The Neighborhood:

Commonly known as “Foodie Row,” the Hawthorne/Buckman District places you within walking distance of a wide variety of top-notch local flavors—with plenty to explore. Explore the Cartopia food cart pod or share a pie at Apizza Scholls.

But Portland isn’t just for foodies. The vibrant indie spirit of Hawthorne is alive with a multitude of made-in-Oregon shops and boutiques, making it a true hipster haven. Catch a movie at Bagdad Theater and Pub, a revamped 1920s theater turned view-and-brew venue serving local McMenamins food and microbrews.

If bar hopping through neighborhoods isn’t your idea of recreation, head up to Mt. Tabor. This 176-acre city park, located atop a dormant volcano vent, offers miles of hiking trails and incredible panoramic views of the city, providing a perfect escape into nature right within the city limits. Whether you're a foodie, a nature enthusiast, or someone who loves exploring unique shops, the Hawthorne/Buckman District has something special for everyone.

Getting Around:

🚶 Walking — This neighborhood sits between the Division and Hawthorne corridors, two of Portland's best streets for dining and shopping — both within easy walking distance.

🚌 Bus — TriMet Route 15 (Belmont) and Route 14 (Hawthorne) serve the area; check current stops and schedules for your trip.

🚲 Biking — Check BIKETOWN for current bike-share locations and plan a route that suits your trip.

🚗 Driving — Free street parking available (read signs for restrictions). Rideshare pickup times vary.

✈️ Airport — Plan your PDX trip around current traffic or transit schedules.

Other Things to Note:

🌡️ Climate note: The apartment has Cadet wall heat.

Note that street and neighboring-unit noise may be audible, including at night. We are happy to provide earplugs and a noise machine on request.

The building entrance has about 10 exterior stairs, followed by an internal staircase to the apartment. The clawfoot tub has high sides and can be slippery when wet.

Info online said no AC but there was a window unit that did not adequately cool the unit. There were no fans and Portland temps were in 90s and high 80s. Only 2 windows had screens. They only opened about 10 inches and one had to be propped with a book. No communication with a human.
