About this property
Charming Log Cabin on Big Wood Pond in Jackman, Maine
Welcome to this cozy log cabin in Jackman Maine located directly on Big Wood Pond with spectacular views of Sally Mountain and panoramic views of the lake!
This welcoming cabin features 2 bedrooms, with 1 queen and 1 full size bed, an open loft with a twin size trundle day bed, washer/dryer, full kitchen and dining area with seating for 4, full bath with tub and shower and WiFi. Sleeps up to 6 but a party of 4 would be more comfortable.
Referred to as the Switzerland of Maine, Jackman is an outdoor enthusiasts dream! In the winter the area draws snowmobilers from all over for its extensive groomed and maintained trail system that accommodates every skill level. Trails connect to the Forks in the south, Greenfield (Moosehead Lake) in the east, Canada to the north and Eustis and Rangeley to the west.
If ice fishing is what you like, you can walk down to the lake from the front of the cabin (please note; it's a tad steep with no maintained pathway) and you're right on the lake! Big Wood Pond is known for trout and salmon action throughout the winter. Night fishing for cusk could land you a whopper!
Like snowshoeing? Strap on those snowshoes and experience the quiet and serenity of a snow-covered landscape. Cross the frozen lake and explore the undeveloped, conserved side of Big Wood Pond. It's magical.
Want to do some sightseeing? Jackman is only 2 hours from Old Québec City. Old Québec is the most intact fortified town north of Mexico, retaining its colonial architecture for over 400 years. It is the historic and cultural heart of Québec City, and the birthplace of French North America. Don't forget your passport!
The cabin is conveniently located in town with an easy walk to Bishop's convenience store (best pizza around!) and local restaurants. You can access the snowmobile trails off of Main Street by driving only a quarter-mile to a half-mile from the cabin in either direction.
The cabin does share a driveway with neighbors on Main Street, so please be respectful of their parking and be respectful of driving sleds over any bare pavement. Plowing is provided and stairs to the cabin are cleared but may be slippery so please use caution! Please park vehicles at the top of the driveway (near the shed) to allow access for clearing snow.
The weather in Jackman is a little like living in another world. It's extremely changeable and extremely exciting. Unfortunately, for that reason, we cannot accept last minute cancellations with a refund due to storms.
Monthly discounts available. Please inquire.
