Beautiful and family-friendly property in a quiet neighborhood

We had a lovely 2-night stay at Susan's. The home was beautifully decorated and had everything we needed for our small family, including my 6 month old. The location was quiet and close to many restaurants and attractions. We were in town for the Ren Faire, which was only 20 minutes from this property. Looking forward to staying here again!

Photos are 100% accurate! This is a little gem of a house. Beds are comfortable lots of beautiful little touches to make this house comfortable. Lots of games to play, music to listen to, snacks, water, washer and dryer, fire pit, porch swing and our door deck with a couch. The owner is wonderful with lots of tips and suggestions for the area.

University Mill House was the perfect location while attending events at Cabarrus Arena. Susan was so responsive from the initial booking stages and throughout the stay. Immaculately clean, so much attention has been given to details of anything you may need from a sound machine, aromatherapy diffuser, dual kitchen decanter/kcup, fast brew hot water tea pot and every utensil imaginable. The gas grill was an added bonus. A basket was provided for the pets, sofa cover and little blankets. The neighborhood is quiet and quaint and perfect for front porch sitting to unwind before crawling into the comfy king size bed. What a treasure we were fortunate enough to find for our stay. P.S. Thank you Susan and Ben for the welcome basket of goodies and cold waters waiting in the fridge.

Adorable Millhouse!

This cute little Mill house is one of 1,600 historic Mill houses in the area and possibly the cutest and most well-appointed one. Susan was a great host and had a basket of goodies and water bottles in the fridge for us when we arrived.After our visit, I believed I had lost an expensive bracelet in the guest room. I told Susan about it and she took an extra visit to the house to scour every corner of the place. This is above and beyond what most would do.I highly recommend her place and hope to stay again while visiting family in the area.

After living in Thailand for 16 years and traveling to many other countries, we returned to the US in 2019 and bought a little 4 acre place where we spend lots of time remodeling, raising bees, dogs and chickens, enjoying our dogs and porch sitting. We love spending time with friends and family and I (Susan) dabble in creating things and I usually have some new project in the works. We love the beauty of nature and lately you can find us at a local rodeo too. After traveling so much and staying in so many types of places, we finally had the chance to fulfill our dream of hosting. We hope we have created a space that you can call home for awhile without worrying about anything.

Why they chose this property

We have always loved history and historical building and were drawn to the Cannon Mill Town area. We love the old time charm of the porches, high ceilings and big backyards. The neighbors are so friendly and the convenience of being right next to downtown Kannapolis makes this the perfect spot for hosting. You can walk to the park for a summer concert or Christmas village yet still savor the quiet of a quaint neighborhood.

What makes this property unique

As you walk in you are greeted by 11 foot ceilings with original molding, hardwood floors, and large windows. We love that the rooms flow nicely into each other but retain their own individual space and charm, each adorned with an unique chandelier. The backyard is big enough to spread out, enjoy some firefly watching in the summer or roast marshmallows in the colder months. The front porch is a delightful place to savor your favorite coffee, enjoy a glass of wine or read a book. Come and spend your time away in a true home.
