Bishop Mountain Lookout

The Space:

Nestled at the top of the hill, this home has amazing views of the nearby Bishop Mountain and surrounding area. Enjoy your coffee on the front porch with the mountain scenery, or relax on the back deck with the trees surrounding you. This brand new, beautiful home is located in Hill City and convenient to all the Black Hills have to offer. Guests can spend time exploring the back yard which is bordered by National Forest, or sightseeing the nearby attractions. The Bishop Mountain Lookout is completely furnished, including towels, linens and kitchen cookware. This peaceful retreat is cabin styled with room to sleep 8 guests, boasting an open floor plan, gourmet kitchen, and relaxing evenings on either deck; you'll never want to leave!

Please note, only 4 vehicles can park comfortably and there is no room for parking trailers at this home, please plan accordingly. The road to the home may be difficult for motorcycles. Not a problem for vehicles, it's just gravel and windy. While vehicles are able to drive on it fine, it can be a bit rough as the county maintains it and it’s not maintained often.

Stayed with my best friend and five children. We had a wonderful, peaceful time and appreciated all the thoughtful amenities. Even though the weather ended up foggy and cool (in July!) we enjoyed the deck and got great sleep. One note (and i may have missed this), the road to the house is dirt/gravel with a few deep ruts and the final approach is quite steep. A minivan handles it if you’re brave but i’d recommend an SUV type vehicle especially in winter.

Gorgeous views!

This was a wonderful property! The house felt new, clean and the view from the front deck was absolutely amazing! The kitchen is stocked and the beds comfortable. The property views all around were just spectacular. The only small cons- you do drive on a bit of gravel. This is clearly a rental only- so there wasn’t extras- for example in the bedrooms there are beds and nightstands. But no chairs, headboards or lamps. We loved this place! The deck was the best! We absolutely would stay again!

Overall this property was ok at best. It’s like the owners either don’t care or have never owned a rental property before or are trying to be very cheap. Here are the primary issues:There’s no lamps! There was one Edison bulb exposed lamp in the living room which is terrible table lamp since it hurts your eyes. Imagine only an overhead lamp in every bedroom?! Early morning coffee - you have to turn on the overhead bright lights. Seems trivial but honestly so annoying.Dead flies all over - I know it’s fall but still, hadn’t been cleaned or used in awhile. They make you strip the beds which is such a pet peeve for me - why do I pay a big cleaning fee then? This is not my friends house, it’s a paid rental. Also they don’t want the blankets washed which I found kind of gross since they’re very washable. There’s no dressers or anything with a drawer to put your clothes away. Again, just annoying to have to live out of your suitcase. No door on the upstairs bedroom which is set up as a kids room so it makes the living room unusable after kids go to bed (especially since there’s no lamps and you’d have to have the ceiling lights on!)Positives - great view, beds were decent for a rental, location was central to black hills attractions
