Explore the Black Hills from this centrally located oasis just north of Custer.

Eight year old rental home only 1.5 miles north of Custer about .5 mile off of Sylvan Lake Road (Highway 89) on Elk Valley Road. Home is in the pines and has beautiful views in every direction. Relax on the deck or in the hammock on the lower level patio and watch the deer and wild turkeys who are daily visitors.

The host requires you to complete the following before checking out:
Load and start the dishwasher
Strip any used beds and gather used towels
Remove personal items, remove leftover food and drinks and take out the rubbish
Turn off the lights and lock the doors
Please return both main floor & lower level thermostat settings to 55 in the spring, fall & winter and A/C to 80 in the summer.
On the fireplace thermostat please move the switch on the side to the OFF position.
Start a load of towels in the washer before leaving and bring used bedding to the mudroom in the laundry baskets provided in each bedroom closet.
Failure to complete these may result in a negative review from the host.
No daily maid service. Adult must be present with minors at all times. Fireworks are not permitted in the Black Hills.

We had a great stay at this home! The location was ideal—close to everything we wanted to explore in the Black Hills and easy to get to. The kitchen was well-stocked with cookware, utensils, and even our favorite Keurig coffee pods. Our kids loved spending time in the basement, which was perfect for games and movie nights. We also enjoyed watching deer and turkeys wander through the yard each morning. It truly felt like a comfortable home away from home, and we’d gladly stay here again!

This house was so lovely! From relaxing on the back porch to playing games in the basement, we had a total blast! The house has all the amenities, is in a great location near Custer, and you can see local wildlife from the home! This home was above and beyond our expectations! The Burger's were the best host's and their property exceeded our expectations. They had almost every single accommodation we needed, except a bedroom fan which was immediately brought to the house upon asking Shirley if she had one. The location in custer was centrally located to so many great attractions and just a 5 minute drive to the downtown. The location was so peaceful and we saw a beautiful deer family right by the property everytime we drove back and forth. I would highly recommend this property!!!

A great home away from home

The house was amazing and made a great trip even better. It was the most well stocked house we have stayed in with all of the kitchen essentials that are frustrating to have to buy on vacation. Very clean and comfortable!

Good place for Black Hills vacation

My wife and I enjoyed the house immensely. We made good use of the kitchen and outdoor dining area, and thoroughly enjoyed watching the large flock of wild turkeys that often roamed through the yard and down to the neighbors pond.

Wonderful accommodation and location!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The property is located close to the town of Custer, Sylvan Lake and many other hiking trails and sights for visitors to see. From relaxing on the deck, playing games in the backyard and in the game room in the basement, to the impressive organization and supplies available in the kitchen/bathroom/mudroom...the owners thought of practically everything to make our stay memorable. It is very peaceful place to stay and one we plan to book again someday.

Family vacation to Badlands

Custer is the perfect location to experiene all that is to offer in the area. this house is like new, is well stocked with all the essentials and only 2 minutes from town. Would definately stay here again.

We have always enjoyed vacationing in the Black Hills with our children over the years. As we near retirement we chose to build this home in the Custer area to be closer to our children and grandchildren who now live in Colorado.

Why they chose this property

We spent about 5 years searching for just the right place to build this home and hope you will enjoy it as much as we do. It is close enough to Custer, Hill City & even Rapid City for all of our needs, and yet secluded enough to provide the peace and quiet that we long for as we near retirement.
