Easter holidays

Our stay at Maisonnette Marazul was very nice, the house is beautiful and well taken care of. The house personnel is kind and professional. At night there is a security guard. Concierge service was friendly and efficient. All in all very recommendable and we will be back next year.

Relaxing Beach Front Property

Relaxing house tucked into the landscaping with a great view of the beach. Being next to Flora Blanca is also an added bonus for an easy coffee, food and bar drinks. Excellent service from everyone involved with the property management.

The absolute best experience

Maison Marazul was simply the most wonderful property we have stayed in. It is located at the north end of Santa Teresa, so away from all the noise of town. The property itself has been immaculately maintained and is even better in person than in the photos. The main house has a spacious kitchen, dining room and living room for all to congregate. The dining room and living room open up to the patio and pool area and this makes for a wonderful indoor/outdoor living space. There is a spacious master bedroom in the main house, and the other two rooms are each located in an adjacent cabana with full bathrooms. The kitchen is well appointed and there are basics provided such as oil, spices etc...An extra welcome bonus was the daily cleaning service, including laundry, which is included in the price. The beach in front of the property is quiet with very few people. It is rocky and so no surfing or swimming, but the tide pools are fun for scavenging. A short walk away (5-10 min) you will find a beachside restaurant and waves to surf and play in. The drive into town is quick and there is easy access to restaurants, shops etc... Tania, the property manager is absolutely delightful. She always responded quickly, from the time we landed in Liberia to our departure. She is available by email, phone and WhatsApp. Tania made sure everything was in working order and every detail was attended to promptly. She had excellent recommendations for cooks, massage therapists, fishing charters and surfing instructors. We will happily return to Maison Marazul again!

Spectacular trip and locale!

Our family of 4 (2 adults, 2 teens) and my parents just spent an amazing 10 days at Maison Marazul and it ranks as one of our top trips ever. Why? 1) The house and location were incredible. Maison Marazul is a wonderfully cared for property on a spectacular beach. Very private and hidden away and very low key. Just the right size for a smaller extended family with 2 suites with separate entrances and 1 master suite in the main house. The kitchen was well appointed and had everything you needed for cooking or barbecuing. The dipping pool was great to get refreshed after spending some time swimming or exercising at the beach. The outside showers were fabulous. The location is excellent; slightly off the main beach of Santa Teresa, but a 5 minute beach walk for good surfing/boogie boarding (and 15 minute drive to Playa Hermosa). 2) The concierge, Tania, did a wonderful job of helping us to arrange a great assortment of activities: from a daily private yoga lesson to start off the day with Valentina to excellent surf lessons with Gero and Esteban (we have taken our fair share of surf lessons and these were by far the best ones yet), a boat excursion out to Cabo Blanco for fishing and snorkeling and very fun zip lining in Mal Pais. She also shopped prior to our arrival and arranged for us to have a chef both cook at home and bring in prepared meals to cook. We also had some excellent meals out from sushi to tapas to drinks and dinner at Florblanca next door. Santa Teresa has a lot of really good food options. She also arranged for our rental car to be there upon our arrival. She was really a turnkey solution to a very relaxing, restful vacation. AND, there is nothing like reading and napping in the hammocks and have the monkeys pass quietly overhead. Very cool! We look forward to returning and exploring even more: the waterfalls at Montezuma, some more hikes, exploring the inside of the Nicoya bay.

A little bit of heaven off the (literally) beaten path

My 18 year old daughter, her friend and I just spent 10 heavenly days at Maison Marazul. The house and property were wonderful and perfect for our little group. The two suites are set up quite independently of each other and gave us the space an adult and two teenagers require. The property is right on the beach, with just the right amount of landscaping to keep the house private but still be able to see the surf. From the comfort of our loungers we spied iguana, geckos, monkeys, squirrels, parrots,magpies, heron and hummingbirds . Every evening we sat on the loungers at the beach and marvelled at the stunning sunsets. We had a mix of active days and relaxing days. On the relaxing days the hardest part of my day was choosing my spot! Chaise by pool, chaise on the lawn, chaise on the beach, arm chair on one of 3 porches or the hammock (pick the hammock!!!). Hide tide or low tide the beach was always great. At low tide you can walk the beach for hours in either direction. The tide pools are so interesting and big enough to relax in! You can't swim right in front of the house, but there is a small swimming area two minutes away ( in front of Florblanca resort) or Santa Theresa beach is a 10 minute walk away. The kitchen is completely equipped with everything you need to prepare full meals. They had salt, pepper, sugar, oil, vinegar and lots of spices available for use. Generally we ate breakfast and lunch at home, then went out to many wonderful restaurants for dinner. There is a binder full of information in the house with great restaurant and activity suggestions. Our concierge Tania set up two great excursions for us, zip-lining in Mal Pais ( the family who runs it are so much fun) and a snorkelling/touring/fishing tour with a great guide named Micho. The girls had a great surf lesson with Taylor (expat Canadian) from Surf 360 in Santa Theresa. We rented a 4x4 Daihatsu Bego ( arranged by Mario the property manager) and wouldn't have enjoyed the vacation as much without it. With the car we checked out Hermosa beach, the falls at Montezuma, Santa Theresa and Mal Pais. There was so much more we could have done but it was hard to leave the wonderful house! I would love to go back....right now! The 3 house staff deserve a big thank you. They keep the house and the gardens clean, beautiful and safe. I don't recommend the house for families with young children as the second and third rooms are accessed from outside the main house.

An iconic house in a unique location

This was my first visit to Santa Teresa, my wife having explored the area several times prior. Maison Marazul and its surroundings are stunning, whether its your first time or are a seasoned Costa Rica villa renter. The house gives a genuine sense of understated luxury and indulgence. The mix of Costa Rican influences and US mid-century indoor-outdoor living makes this a place truly fit for James Bond - owners personal touches evident throughout. A house and landscaped surroundings with care and love poured into every detail. The quiet breach front property is private, yet with quick access by foot to restaurants, yoga, surf breaks. The plot next door was constructing a new villa at the time of our visit, but this was screened off and did not affect us in terms of noise nor traffic. The house is located in the quiet and most authentic end of Santa Teresa. A car or quad bike is recommended to get into town (5 mins away). The house manager (Mario) helped us with everything we needed and the owners were very transparent with regards to all our queries. We very quickly relaxed and let the beauty and positive energy of Costa Rica and its people embrace us. We would recommend Maison Marazul to people who appreciate good taste, quality materials & design, a beautiful quiet location, and immediate access to the surf and nature.

Bliss in Santa Teresa

Having rented homes in numerous parts of Costa Rica before we were looking forward to trying a new area. Santa Teresa is a delightful town and a wonderful place to hang out. Maison Marazul is everything it appears to be on the website. The home itself could not be nicer and indeed the photos do portray an honest reflection of what you get (and will love!). The owner/management team were very straightforward and easy to deal with in the transaction....no curveballs at all from them and all payments/refunds etc were handled in an honest and efficient manner. In summary I would highly recommend this home...you will not be disappointed.

Paradise in Beach Haven

Maison Marazul is situated in paradise on a beautiful piece of coastline, walking distance to both Flor Blanca and Pranamar Villas. So without getting in your car you can enjoy the finest food (at Pranamar), yoga at both, and excellent beaches. Mario, the manager, made all the arrangements so easy--he has the patience of a saint, and delivers exceptional advice and service with competence, efficiency and professionalism. In addition to making all our housing arrangements at the house, he reserved accommodations and transport for our party of 6 in San Jose and up North. We love Mario! And Tania provided excellent concierge services, including arrangements for paddle-boarding and massages. Now back to the house--it could not be more beautiful and comfortable. Five days was not long enough to try out all the different outdoor seating areas. We watched the monkeys playing in the trees from the comfort of our lounge chairs--a National Geographic experience in the front yard! We enjoyed the beach sunsets, the sounds of the birds and cicadas, the iguanas , the hammocks, the pool and even the bats. The beds and house could not be more comfortable, serviced daily by a housekeeper and grounds person. For food we would highly recommend The Bakery in Santa Theresa (try the coffee and crumbled cheese cake), Mary's Restaurant in Mal Pais, Pranamar's restaurant. When we go back to Costa Rica, we will certainly arrange our trip with Mario.

We are spoilt for life now!

We stayed in Maison Marazul in Feb 2014 as a treat for my birthday. I had been told to pick anywhere in the world I wanted to go, and I picked Costa Rica Santa Teresa. I was in heaven every single second of my stay, and so was my husband and friend. This area is sensational, we have all traveled a lot, but this was the best beach we had ever been to, and the best holiday we have ever had. Maison Marazul looks great in the photos especially on their website http://www.maisonmarazul.com. But the photographs do not do the place justice, this house and location is quite simply fantastic. Its so airy and spacious and everything is absolutely top quality. The vibe is just so good the minute you walk in the door. Everything is so comfortable, I have often been in hammocks that looked beautiful but horrid to be in.... NOT THESE ONES! I would do anything for one more snooze in one of those hammocks! The kitchen was the first rate, it had everything needed and more to cook our own dinners etc, and again everything top quality. An added bonus is Florblanca being a very short walk up the beach .... fantastic food and cocktails. The bedrooms were perfect. So comfortable. We had expected to explore more .... but the house and the beach were just too good to leave. The rock pools when the tide is out such fun to swim in, and a short walk around the corner to the big waves! Last but not least, Mario and the rest of the staff that take such lovely care of the place were great, friendly and kind and low key. Back to real life now! But we will aways have the best memories possible of our stay.

This has it all!

This was our second time to Costa Rica and we wanted to stay in a house rather than a resort. This place was perfect! The house is beautiful and so easy to relax in too. The bedrooms are private, and the private outdoor showers are divine! Being next door to Florblanca is a big plus because you can eat at the restaurant there and do yoga or pilates! There is a daily maid and gardener and a nightly security watchman. We went with two families and loved every minute.

Dreamy Family Reunion

Magical spot for a family reunion with 3 adult children. The house offers an idyllic retreat, beautiful views of the ocean and sunsets, gracious outdoor seating areas for visiting and reading. We did watercolors and listened to music, as well as dipping in and out of the pool to cool off when we were at the house. Cooked our own meals with local fish and fruits and vegetables. The mangos and papaya were delicious!! We went surfing, out to dinner occasionally at local restaurants, and went to yoga classes down the beach in the morning. We left feeling so happy and relaxed. Three cheers for our property manager, our housekeeper, gardener and night guard. What a wonderful team!

MM: The One & Only in CR ... Exceptional!

Wow! We had several options for our vacation in CR and opted for Maison Marazul. The best choice ever! MM is better in-person than the pictures. The property description and pictures provided by the Owner on the maisonmarazul . com website are 100% accurate. The property was well-maintained and supported by the attentive staff. Great Beach House

I stayed in Maison Marazuel for 4 days in the end of January. We had a great time and the house is awesome. The location on the beach is perfect and being next to the Flor Blanca resort is very convenient. Mario and Tania the managers of the house are great and will help you with anything you need while staying in Santa Teresa.

Amazing!!!

The concierge warmly welcomed me and met my every need during my perfect 10 nights of bliss. Hearing the ocean at night and waking up to the monkeys in the trees in the morning was just what was needed to escape and rejuvenate. The house was so much more than i expected and the ocean view was breathtaking, strolling down the beach for morning yoga and breakfast at the small hotel was a dream come true. Oh well, back to LA for a dose of reality!!!
