Shambhala Mountain Retreat: A chalet surrounded by forest. Relax & unwind!
Escape to this delightful chalet on 10 private acres in picturesque Ulster County for winter, spring, summer or fall! This peaceful property boasts 4 bedrooms, including 2 queen beds, a bunk bed, and a murphy bed. Even a pack'n'play for your littlest ones or cozy crate for your pup. With 2 bathrooms equipped with showers, guests can relax and unwind in comfort. Enjoy amenities like a washing machine, WiFi, AC, and heating. Our place is equipped for both long or short stays to make your holiday one to remember. Experience the magic of the Catskills at our charming remote home!
We have a number of things in place for families with babies and toddlers, including but not limited to stair gates, pack-n-play and changing pad. We've done major updates to all the stairs and decks which were not previously to code, so you (& we) can feel safe with your kiddos.
Fur babies are welcome too. Our dog uses a crate as a safe space which yours can use plus food and water bowls. Be aware we have a lot of wildlife in the area, so if your pup is known to sprint without listening, we recommend keeping them on leash outside as we are off a major roadway.
There's plenty of firewood already cut for the indoor wood stove and outside fire pit. We ask our guests to follow fire safety protocol for both. Please do bring your own coal for the grill.

Place was dog friendly in a lovely area close to some of the best hikes in the Catskills. Also great farms and villages around. Host was very communicative and helpful.
The property was in a perfect location. Just far enough out of the hustle and bustle but close enough to still have fun stuff to do. The kitchen was carefully outfitted with unmatched accommodation for those with dietary restrictions. The host was so gracious as to send a very detailed list of check in instructions, directions to the property, wifi connections, emergency contact information and even some suggestions to local attractions. We were a reasonable distance from the Kaaterskill falls where we hiked, and then took some much needed respite, enjoying the movie selection and a cozy wood stove to warm us. Would 100% suggest to anyone looking for a wonderful get away even if they're on a budget. Thank you so much for hosting our group!! It was lovely!! Our sweet pup very much enjoyed himself and we are so glad he was welcome!

What joy this brings me as this is exactly why we fell in love with the property all those years ago! It's tranquility offers respite and coziness but there are amazing places to visit for day trips. We're so pleased you all enjoyed your getaway and we hope you come back (maybe to experience it in another season!)
We had a great stay. Prepared a Thanksgiving feast. Hidden Gem.

About the host
Hosted by Brianne Muscente-Solga
Our home is the perfect escape from our busy lives. A weekend away enjoying the sounds of the forest and fresh air reinvigorates us! It's a place we enjoy with our friends and family so there are toys for younger children, DVDs, arts and crafts, books, picnic baskets, and stadium chairs to gather around the fire pit. We also have an inflatable pool for hot summer days and a projector for outdoor screenings.
Why they chose this property
What we love about our home is it's proximity to things while offering a real opportunity to disconnect if you so choose. It's under 2 hours to NYC. Ellenville is 15-18 minutes drive, which has new restaurants popping up every year and recently the Borscht Belt Museum was added to the historic offerings in town. You'll find many farms and orchards nearby. Our favorite cidery is 25 minutes away nearby a brewery that also does live concerts. Even closer is the Catskill sugar house and Peekamoose trails or blue hole. In the other direction, about 40 minutes away, is Bethel Woods and Neversink reservoir. If you just need the quiet adult time or want a quaint family gathering you can get that here too. The firepit allows you to enjoy the late summer evenings and the wood stove makes the home super cozy in the colder months. There's so much to offer in every season!
What makes this property unique
We are the second owners of the home. It was built in the late 70's by the previous owners and has a lot of interesting architectural elements. For instance, the cantilever feature from the foundation to the upper levels of the home stops snow from resting against the sides of the house!
Additionally, the current owner has celiac disease so the kitchen is equipped for gluten free cooking and serving. There are two sets of pots, pans, plates and utensils. We even have two charcoal grills! Everything is marked accordingly so it's clear to guests what to use or not to use.
