My husband, Gene, and I met in 1989 when he was putting together his large commercial haunted house, Nightmare on Grayson, inside an old warehouse near downtown San Antonio. It's been a wild ride with two more haunted houses, a relocation to Dallas, and then countless warehouse loft conversions. We finally settled back in San Antonio in 2016 and have been welcoming guests to our warehouse lofts ever since.

Why they chose this property
The former Handy Andy grocery store distribution center sat vacant for a number of years. My husband Gene and I had experience converting old warehouses into Live-Work communities and we knew this one could come alive once again. Rich Gottbrath of VCSH and Johnny Devora of Devora Realty were essential in seeing our vision become reality. The 130,000 sq ft Andy Live-Work complex turned out better than we could have every imagined. The Andy's logo contains a Phoenix, signifying the rebirth of this property. We carried on the sentiment and felt the name Fyrebird Place was fitting for our loft.
What makes this property unique
Tile and block walls, high exposed ceilings and concrete floors retain the industrial character of this building's former life as a large grocery store produce warehouse. Downtown San Antonio is an easy 2.5 mile drive straight west on Houston or Commerce Streets - you can be in the center of things when you want to be - or you can come back to the loft for some quiet relaxation.
