About this property
1798 - Spacious - Sleeps 10 on the Ocean
Set on Morgan's Bay at the end of a private road, 1798 provides a quiet retreat for families, remote workers, artists, and writers. With floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the ocean, the main floor has a modern kitchen, living and dining rooms that open to the spacious ocean-side deck, and primary bedroom suite. The views are stunningly beautiful. There are 3 wood-burning fireplaces for use when the weather turns cooler. There are 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms on the second floor, and a large family room with 65" TV, fooseball table, and full bathroom in the walk-out finished basement.
Relax on the spacious 50' deck with spectacular 180-degree views of the bay and inner islands, dining ocean-side, or relaxing in the comfortable seating area. The house and deck are well - suited for families and small groups to enjoy time together, while watching occassional passing schooners, lobster boats, and a variety of sealife, such as bald eagles, osprey and seals.
1798 sits on a gently-sloping hillside and has a finished, walk-out, light-filled basement where the large family room is located, with a 65-inch TV, fooseball table, and assortment of games and toys. There is also a full bathroom and laundry room on this level, as well as a quiet office space with desk, comfortable chair, computer and printer/scanner.
Behind the house and facing the bay is a fence - enclosed unheated swimming pool, available June through late September, with an inviting stone patio and seating area. A solar cover helps warm the pool water during the summer.
1798 is child friendly. It sits at the end of a private road and has an outdoor play structure with swings, slides, a tower, and sandbox. One of the second - floor bedrooms has a bunk bed plus twin bed.
Located a mile from the charming village of East Blue Hill, the house is 5 miles from Blue Hill Village, and 13 miles from the larger (small) city of Ellsworth. Guests have easy access to grocery stores, many choices for dining out, and a variety of small shops, galleries, and more to explore. Curtis Cove, a popular swimming spot, is a beautiful half mile walk on a quiet side road, and Blue Hill Heritage Trust maintains beautiful walking and hiking trails throughout the area. Acadia National Park is less than an hour's drive away.
This is a great choice for families, small group retreats, remote workers, and artists and writers looking for a quiet, beautiful space to foster creativity.
