Charter fishing boats operate nearby. Take a stroll through shopping streets of town to Chatham Light.
Chatham is one of New England's most beautiful locales, and its unique location on the Cape surrounds it with water, harbors, dunes and sandbars on three sides. A fantastic place to visit, on-season or off-season.
DURING YOUR STAY:
• We especially request that you limit the number of people present while you are at the house to your immediate group or family only, and that you not invite additional persons to visit the house or grounds, so please, no picnics, bar-b-cues, or parties.
• We are also requesting that you limit the number of vehicles parked in the driveway to no more than 3, and refrain from street parking, especially overnight.
BEFORE YOUR DEPARTURE:
• Please strip all beds, and place bed linens and towels in washing machine (in the garage) with detergent, set dial to “regular” cycle/ “hot” water, and pull to run. Please leave second or third loads in the hamper. Thanks!
• Please place all household trash in black garbage bags (provided), and recyclable materials in blue or clear ones (provided). Bags are under the kitchen sink. Gather all together by metal trash can in the garage - we are happy to take it from there. Safe trip home!

About the host
Hosted by Rick Butler
For four generations of the Butler family this has been our favorite home. We maintain our seaside cottage with pride, and welcome visitors from all over the world to share its unique character and locale. Originally from New York and New Jersey, we spend our time tending to the Cottage and visiting Cape friends. Rick attended Boston University and Yale, William IV hales from Princeton, and William III was Sheriff of Essex County.
Why they chose this property
For 70 years our family has owned this cottage and enjoyed watching the Cape change and grow. Our grandparents were antique dealers and decorated the house and gardens in traditional Cape style. Now in its fourth generation, our family takes pride in maintaining the house in the comfortable and hospitable style that our grandparents, Mildred and Bill, intended.
What makes this property unique
As children we played horseshoes and 'hide-and-seek' in the deep woods behind the property, and enjoyed biking, sailing, sun-bathing, and visits to the local theaters. We made day-trips to Province town and slept on the porch, now enclosed. The pine-paneled interior is uniquely Cape Cod-style, and our grandparents' collection of antique furniture and hooked rugs, also their Currier and Ives prints gave the place a special meaning to us. The walls now feature the paintings, prints and drawings of Niamh Butler, artist, our 4th generation!
