Excellent location, beautiful and spacious
Sven and Olga'splace is truly lovely. We had a great time with the kids. It is very spacious and has a lovely dining room for family dinners. The location is unbeatable, half a block from central park, with one of the best playgrounds for kids and literally two subway lines very close by. We really enjoyed our stay! Thank you!

Very glad to hear you enjoyed your stay! And thanks for leaving the apartment in great condition!
Excellent location and fun street! Halloween and the marathon were esp fun. WiFi wasn’t ideal
but otherwise, a fabulous stay. Central Park is just steps away as are so many other choices and activities. Super responsive and prepared host.
This was a one-of-a-kind place to stay, being a spacious Brownstone from the late 1800's within a block's walk to Central Park, subway stations, restaurants, grocery stores, and other merchants. Yet it was on a relatively quiet street. Our goal was to stay for a month and "act like residents." We loved this area because it was primarily locals. It exceeded our expectations in many ways.We wanted some extra space, and this apartment offered that. The primary bedroom was in the back and very peaceful. It was the first time we slept in New York City and heard birds chirping in the morning instead of sirens and honking horns. Really, it was that quiet. We did not use any other sleeping spaces - they are mainly pull-down small twin beds in tight spaces that share sleeping / desk space. There were two areas for working - the main level had a nice office off of the dining room with a desk (plus pull-down "bunk" beds if needed), and work desks downstairs (also with twin beds sharing the spaces). Having a wireless printer was helpful. The WiFi connection was shaky at times; however, there were two WiFi boosters that we reset a few times. The kitchen had almost everything that we needed for cooking. The spacious dining room was perhaps our favorite room, as it was so bright with large windows that overlooked the street. This apartment is a personal residence, not a full-time rental property, meaning that guests may find personal items in the kitchen, closets, etc.
From a world class location, to the spacious historical architecture, we were blown away. Most of all Svein and Olga are wonderful, gracious hosts. A thousand star rating.
Our family of five stayed in the apartment for two weeks and had a lovely time. The apartment is full of NYC historical architectural charm, the block is terrific, and the location is ideal, half a block from the 69th street entrance to Central Park. The apartment is surrounded by excellent restaurant options, and there’s a terrific wine store two blocks up on Columbus. Magnolia Bakery with its famous cupcakes is on the corner. The check in and communication with the owners was easy and lovely. All around a very nice stay.
Lovely 2nd story brownstone, 1 block from the park, convenient to shops, restaurants, etc. Nice, quieter neighborhood, good for walking. Smooth and efficient communication with property manager, made it all the better.
We would repeat the stay.
The property was perfect and exactly what we were looking for as a family of 5 to explore NYC for the weekend. Such a clean and well maintained location, so much room, extremely convenient location and great owners who made the process seamless. Would do it 10 out of 10 times again and will most definitely be returning.
It is difficult to say enough great things about both this apartment and its owner/host. First of all the location is outstanding. Three blocks from the former home of John Lennon. Half a block from Central Park. A short walk to Columbus Circle, Sara Beth's, the Plaza Hotel and shopping of 5th Ave. The apartment itself is splendid. At nearly 2,000 square feet you have plenty of room to move around, which is a real luxury in NYC. The apartment is clean, well maintained and offers just the right balance between oud world charm and new world amenities. As for the hosts, both Svein and Olga are teriffic, from the initial request to book the apartment (which was confirmed within about 15 mins, to the prompt return of our security deposit and everything in between they were both perfect host. Just the right amount of attention without making you feel uncomfortable. WE WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PROPERTY IF YOU WANT A WONDERFUL STAY IN NYC.
I can’t gush enough about how lovely our experience was. This was the icing on the cake of a perfect NYC anniversary trip. Thank you!

Gorgeous apartment in great location!
We had a wonderful time staying in this lovely apartment. It's hard to find a place for a family of five in Manhattan, but this apartment is really great. The proximity to the park and midtown is super convenient, and of course, being on the upper west side itself is great with kids. Svein was also very responsive and helpful throughout or stay. I can't say enough wonderful things about the experience.

A wonderful Home on the Upper West Side
We recently stayed in this Brownstone since our daughter was dancing in NYC for the week. I must say that renting this place was the best decision that we could have ever made. This Brownstone is not in the crowded and noisy areas like Times Square or even Hells Kitchen. The Brownstone itself is a wonderful place to stay so that you have plenty of space and amenities and not just a hotel room. There was plenty of room for our family of 5 to sleep and to have space to spread out. The kitchen had everything that you could ask for with a nice stove and a sub zero refrigerator. The bathrooms were clean with very nice showers and were very good sized. It was also nice to have a washing machine and dryer on site! All of the beds were comfortable and had their own air conditioners so that we were comfortable when we slept.
The neighborhood was amazing to us. Within a 4 block walk you had almost any type of restaurant you could could ask for. We ate Italian, Chinese, Japanese, Mexican, and burgers without having to walk more than 3 or 4 blocks. There is even a coffee house and Starbucks close by. Central Park is less than a block away and there is a subway a block and a half away that you can catch to get you to midtown in only 3 or 4 stops. It is also a 10 block walk to the Museum of Natural History and even less to Lincoln center.
The owners were amazing to work with. They could not have been more helpful or pleasant if they tried. We were given wonderful instructions and helpful hints for groceries and for transportation. We remained in contact with them and they responded quickly to any emails of messages we sent. Our security deposit was returned in a few days after vacating the brownstone!
In closing, we loved this place for it's quiet out of the way location, the cleanliness and amenities within the home, the stores and restaurants that were nearby, the ease of which the rental took place, and the amazing owners. I would not think twice about staying there again in the future. In truth I would have a difficult time staying anywhere else!

Wonderful Central Park location!
Our family of 6 had a wonderful stay at this property. This brownstone is located within a half block of Central Park and within easy walking distance of the subway. Explore the park, easily walk to the Guggenheim and the Met, or visit the natural history museum - you're not likely to run out of things to do! Many shops and tasty restaurants in this area as well. Trader Joe's is just a few blocks away so we were able to buy food for several meals and save a little money. The New Years Eve fireworks in the park were amazing!
We have been treated extremely well by the owners who ensured that we had everything that we needed. The property was just as advertised and I highly recommend it to anyone looking to visit NYC.

New York Beauty
Hey Svein & Olga, thank you for opening your warm and welcoming home to our family. We slept well in the warm and comfortable beds and we loved the eclectic touches that gave the apartment its soul. Our kids enjoyed playing in your little fairylight filled garden when we weren't exploring the nearby Central Park and other convenient delights of New York City. I hope we can return one day. Thank you again for your hospitality. Best wishes from The West Family, Western Australia.

New Year and early Jan in New York
We had an absolutely fantastic time on 82nd West!
Apartment is so close to everything you need in the local vicinity. Central Park only 100m, subway just around the corner and great food/drinking places on Columbus and Amsterdam. So easy to get downtown and into good party districts such as Meatpacking and the East and West Villages. Museum of Natural History and the American Historical Society nearby. Plus the USS Intrepid which we were all very impressed by, especially the aircraft (space shuttle soon to come)!
The apartment is everything you could hope for. Clean, comfortable and plenty of space. Outside garden perfect for the summer or some fresh air.
Svein and Olga excellent for questions about the area and very easy moving in and out of the apartment.
Wish we were still back there, epic epic week! Enjoy!
I’m a New York-based entrepreneur and world traveler. While I spend more time in Europe and the UK visiting my now-grown kids, I rent out my home when I’m away. It’s the kind of place that’s almost impossible to find short-term—comfortable, well-located, and designed for people who actually live in New York, not just visit.
Why they chose this property
You won’t find a better location—this is the rare combination of charm and access. Like staying in a British cottage tucked into Manhattan, you’re within walking distance of the city’s most iconic cultural institutions and just a 15-minute train ride to SoHo. It doesn’t get better than this.
What makes this property unique
It’s a true New York home on a real New York block—tree-lined, quiet, with block coffee parties and neighborhood charm. Unlike a sterile rental, this is a lived-in brownstone duplex just steps from Central Park and Lincoln Center—private, spacious, and filled with natural light.
