We had a fun long weekend with our family and the fall colors were amazing and it was a convenient location to many different towns. However, we would not recommend this VRBO. There were many things in a state of disrepair, many things broken, and it appeared there were a lot of DIY remodeling and remodelers that had done different projects that don't flow together. There were many windows with no blinds or curtains, including all the bedrooms upstairs, as well as windows on the main floor with broken blinds or no blinds at all. We tried to close one of the blinds and the entire blind fell off the wall. One window is broken in the living room. The upstairs bedroom has a giant piece of foil over the window, not sure why. It advertises sweeping views of Lake Charlevoix. It is visible way in the distance with a small view between two trees. The sofa bed is broken and we couldn't use it. It wasn't incredibly clean. The outside landscaping is not taken care of at all and covered in weeds. There are multiple stairs and uneven flooring throughout the main floor, so if you are using a walker or cane, this house would be a giant fall risk. Also for young children, there are stairs just to get into the living room or kitchen. There is also a Michigan cellar basement with a door that doesn't lock. This would be dangerous with young kids wandering around. This house has a lot of potential, and Chip and Joanna could do amazing things.

Thank you for sharing your perspective. While we’re glad you enjoyed the fall colors and central location, we do want to clarify a few points for future guests reading this review. The renovations and updates in the home were completed by licensed professionals, and we’ve consistently received very positive feedback regarding the condition, layout, and charm of the house. It did feel as though this stay began with a high level of scrutiny, though we did address the blind issue immediately once it was brought to our attention.
We also want to note that we do not advertise sweeping lake views, and the steps and varied floor levels are typical—and part of the character—of an older farmhouse like this one. We appreciate all feedback and are always working to maintain and improve the home, but this style of property may not be the right fit for every guest. We wish you the best in your future travels.
Our suggestion is a hot tub. property was clean. Beautiful and the perfect spot close to boyne spa for a girls get away.

Hi, I’m Adam. I’m passionate about my work in AI engineering, where I focus on keeping drivers safe on the roads, but my heart truly lies with my dogs, especially my German Shepherd, Zeke. They bring so much joy to my life. When I’m not working or spending time with Zeke, you’ll find me staying active—whether it’s exercising, playing sports, or working on projects with my hands. My biggest dream is to own vacation homes, so my fiancée and I can travel the world, experience new places, and make lasting memories together. Every day, I’m working toward that goal, and I can’t wait to see where the journey takes us.
