Great place for families! Cabin was super cute and comfortable. My kids loved the loft area with the beds. Appreciated how the bathroom was laid out so multiple people could be in there and still have privacy because there was only one bathroom. Would stay again if ever back in the area.

What a joy to hear that Long View Cabin was such a great fit for your family! The loft is always a hit with kids, so we love knowing yours had fun up there. And you're so right about the bathroom layout — it was designed with exactly that in mind, so families aren't tripping over each other during the morning rush. We'd absolutely love to welcome you all back if your Utah adventures ever bring you this way again!
The property was lovely in every regard. The website description is accurate, but it doesn't convey how absolutely charming this cabin is! I was concerned when the host said I would receive check-in instructions the day before we arrived. I thought we might not have cell phone serviceat the time. The host sent me the information before we left home, so I could make a hard copy. So accommodating. We saw deer and a flock of wild turkeys on the grounds. Wish we could have stayed longer!

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience at Long View Cabin! We completely agree that the cabin's charm is one of those things you really have to *see* to fully appreciate, so it means the world to hear it exceeded your expectations. Those deer and wild turkeys are practically locals at this point, and we love that they made an appearance for you! We're so glad we could get those check-in instructions to you early and give you peace of mind before you even hit the road — that's exactly the kind of thing we want to get right. We hope it won't be long before you find your way back for a longer stay!
Everything was amazing. We didn’t have propane for the grill and they brought us a tank right away. Definitely coming back.

So glad you had an amazing stay at Long View Safari Cabin! That's exactly the kind of experience we aim for. When that propane situation came up, we were happy to get a tank out to you so nothing got in the way of those grill sessions. We can't wait to welcome you back for another adventure in canyon country!
This was prefect for what we wanted. Away from crowds, but close enough to see the local sights.

Thank you so much for this wonderful review! We’re so happy to hear your family had a great stay and that the kids loved the loft area. It’s great to know the cabin felt cozy, peaceful, and well stocked for everything you needed. We’re thrilled it was the perfect getaway for your family and would love to welcome you back anytime!
We enjoyed our stay at Canyon Lands property. The views were amazing and the property was great. The google maps directions were spot on. We enjoyed the outdoor grill and patio area. I would definitely return.
Unclean, unkept, cob webs all over and dog hair on furniture... outside furniture and cushions are filthy and also have animal hair on them....not to mention spiders in the house!the smell that comes from the water in the sink smells of sewer and drains into a 4 ft weed right off the back deck...now wondering how long ago the pictures were taken of the cabin.... Other cabins in the area appeared to have old weathered furniture out on their porches as well.I did appreciate the labeling of the kitchen drawers. We dropped off luggage and ran to town to find something to eat... We were probably gone a total of two hours.... Then, on our arrival, again, we noticed all of this and decided that it gave us the hibbie jeebees and and couldn't talk ourselves into staying... I sent them a message as we drove the fifty miles to the next town to get a hotel requesting a refund... Their response, after a few days was that they would return 40 to me. Because I waited two hours to report the issue...Save yourself the drama..... Just DON'T with this place.....My mistake is I didn't take pictures... I just wanted to get out of the place... lesson learned!!

We're genuinely sorry to hear your stay began this way, and we understand how disappointing it must have felt to arrive with high expectations and not feel comfortable settling in. That experience matters to us, and we take cleanliness and property condition seriously at every one of our properties.
That said, we want to be transparent with future guests reading this: Long View undergoes professional cleaning between every stay, and our team conducts regular property inspections. When we received this guest's message, we reached out promptly and worked to address the refund within the parameters of our cancellation policy — a partial refund was issued based on the timeline of the reported concern, as the property was vacated and the issue was communicated the next day without documentation or an opportunity for our team to inspect or remedy anything on-site. We always encourage guests to reach out immediately so we have the chance to make things right in real time.
Regarding the water smell — southeastern Utah's water supply can carry a naturally occurring mineral scent that varies by season and source, which is common throughout the region and not a sewage issue. We do understand that can be unexpected if you're not familiar with it.
We genuinely wish this visit had gone differently, and we remain committed to making Long View a place guests love returning to. Future guests are always welcome to reach out to our team directly before or during a stay — we're here and responsive.

So much fun and beautiful property. We will definitely stay again when we are in the area. Great access to national and state parks.
This cabin suited me and my husband really well. It's in a beautiful setting, thoroughly stocked, and had a very comfortable king bed. We really enjoyed it!
Secluded property, great porch and back yard fire pit area. TVs not working, portable heaters not working. A little late on check in waiting on cleaners. Overall pretty good stay. Great location. Thanks
The cabin was clean and quiet. Kitchen had all the utensils/dishes you would need. Location was great! We could drive easily to Monument Valley; Valley of the Gods; Canyonlands; Arches Ntl. Park from the cabin. It was just the two of us but the cabin could hold plenty more people. Great stay! Thank you!
We spent a fabulous weekend in the Africabin. It is far enough away from Moab to be nice and quiet and close enough to visit Bluff, Blanding, and Moab as well. Very comfortable and owners were super helpful. Highly recommend!
Great one night stop for our family of five! Clean and comfortable, kitchen well equipped, comfortable beds. Kept us warm as the temps dipped into the 20s and several inches of snow fell overnight. Great location! We stayed in Moab most of our trip, but this cabin about an hour south allowed us to make a day trip to Monument Valley, Goosenecks SP, and the Needles district of Canyonlands without having to drive all the way down and back in the same day. Definitely recommend!

Quiet, peaceful and tucked away
The Africabin was a lovely and quiet place to stay. We felt at home and enjoyed the patio and outdoor living space after our long hiking days. Thank you to the Murdock's for the hospitality they showed us during our stay. This was a great base for activities in Southeast Utah.

Nice stay at the Africabin!
My family had a wonderful stay here at the Africabin. It's a lovely home in a quiet area that is an easy drive to major sights from Canyonlands to Natural Bridges and other interesting historical sights in between. The home is comfortable, clean, and well stocked with everything anyone could possibly need.

The location of the cabin was very beautiful. There wasn’t any issues finding the location and checking was easy. The long view cabin has a great view and the actual property was perfect. Had a great time with my family roasting marshmallows on the fire pit and looking at the canyon from the porch.
Would definitely go back again.
We loved this gem. Such a great feeling of peace and solitude. Best stocked kitchen for a vrbo. Beautiful inside and out and a breathtaking view in the morning. We will be back!
We really liked the cabin and had a wonderful stay. The dishes, pots and pans, and dining table were greasy and dirty. A good soapy wash of everything and the shelves are due. New measuring cups and spoons would be nice that reflect their measurements. Everything else was clean. The bed in the master is a little lumpy but ok. I wouldn't say the house overlooks a canyon. The canyon is really across the main road a half mile away. We would definitely stay here again though.

Thank you for your message. We did receive your messages during your stay and confirmed with you that the cabin is equipped with a Smart TV for streaming only. There is no traditional cable or satellite service. The internet in the cabin supports streaming apps, but traditional channels are not available.
This place did not disappoint! I was needing a break from life and to disconnect from work and kids etc.. The “Africabin” was exactly what I needed to recenter and connect with nature. I recommend this place to anyone looking to do the same. It was clean, updated, easy to find and the location is gorgeous.

About the host
Hosted by Canyonlands Vacation Rentals
Jerry and Tina Murdock and their sons built this Cabin for travelers to enjoy the Canyonlands area. We are the proud parents of many children, and even more grandchildren. We love riding horses, ATV's, and Jeeps on the trails, mountains, and canyons in the area, and the hiking trails are absolutely amazing. You will love it too!
Why they chose this property
This cabin has a full kitchen and living room/dining room areas along with plush sleeping areas. We are centrally located among 12 National Parks and Monuments. This beautiful cabin is secluded, quiet and private, yet is accessible to the highway for easy visits to sites of your choice, or just relax on the covered patio and enjoy the scenery and quiet. The sunrises and sunsets here are spectacular, and the star gazing is out of this world. You are sure to enjoy the cabin and all of its western luxuries. Thank you, Jerry and Tina Murdock
