About this property
Oceanfront 5BR | Hot Tub, Game Room & Kids Bunk Room | Steps to Pacific
Oceanfront 5BR | Hot Tub, Game Room & Kids Bunk Room | Steps to Pacific
Wandering Dunes sits about 100 paces from the Pacific Ocean boardwalk — close enough that you fall asleep to the sound of waves, far enough that you're not eating sand with your morning coffee. It's a five-bedroom oceanfront home built around one idea: that everyone on the trip should have something that's theirs.
The adults get three king beds, a queen, a hot tub on its own private slab just off the back patio, a master balcony with unobstructed ocean views, a Breville espresso machine, and enough space to actually feel like they're on vacation. The kids get something they won't stop talking about.
The Bunk Room Hand-painted murals cover the walls. The theming is immersive — this isn't a room with a couple of bunk beds and a nautical print. It's a genuine kids' space that earns its own reviews. There's also a dress-up closet and a scavenger hunt hidden throughout the house — eight octopuses tucked into unexpected spots. Finding them all takes most of a rainy afternoon.
The House Five bedrooms across two levels sleep up to 12. Three full bathrooms and a half bath keep mornings manageable. The main level has an open kitchen and living space with ocean views, Smart TVs, and fast WiFi. The fully equipped kitchen has everything you need for real cooking — plus an Instant Pot and the Breville espresso setup for the coffee people in your group. The game room has ping pong and cornhole. There's also an EV charger in the driveway.
Outside The hot tub sits on its own slab just off the back patio — open to the sky, which means star-gazing on clear nights and that particular Pacific Northwest magic of soaking in warm water while rain falls around you. The outdoor patio is set up for drinks, conversations, and doing nothing in particular. The boardwalk to the beach is right next door — flip-flop pace, no car required. The beach itself stretches for miles in both directions and is open to dogs year-round.
Summer vs. Winter Summer brings long days, warm sand, fresh Dungeness crab and salmon bought directly off the boats at the marina, gray whale sightings during migration, and some of the best surfing on the Washington coast. Winter is genuinely spectacular in a different way — king tides, storm fronts rolling in off the Pacific, glass floats washing up on the beach, and sitting in an open-air hot tub while rain falls and waves crash in the distance. Westport is one of the few coastal towns where off-season is actually worth it.
What's Nearby Downtown Westport is about 7 minutes away — marina, charter fishing, fresh seafood shacks, the Grays Harbor Lighthouse (tallest in Washington), surf rentals, and the Maritime Museum. Razor clamming season draws people from across the state when the dates are released. Five state parks are within a short drive. It's a small town that earns repeat visits.
About the Neighborhood Wandering Dunes sits in a residential area just steps from the beach. The neighborhood is part of an active development — new homes are being built nearby, so there may be some construction noise during weekdays. Crews are respectful of standard working hours, and the property itself remains a wonderful place to unwind with the ocean right there.
Good to Know Smart lock self check-in — code sent before arrival once rental agreement is signed and security deposit is placed. Private driveway fits 4 vehicles, no street parking. One owners-only closet upstairs. Pets welcome. EV charger available (adapter required: EVOCHARGE 32A).

About the host
Hosted by Lauren
Shoreside Sanctuaries was born from our personal need to find a space where we could escape & truly unwind. As two young professionals navigating the challenges of economic downturn, we found ourselves completely burnt out. Life became a juggling act—balancing work, family, friends, and the little time we had for each other & ourselves was impossible. We were exhausted, unhealthy, and disconnected from the things that matter most. So—we made the decision to leave the chaos behind. We committed to saving, quit our jobs, and spent time with family while figuring out a better way forward. After a very long search, we began to lose hope—but on the last day of our trip to WA, we found our unicorn! A home overlooking the stunning Puget Sound, with Mt. Rainier watching over us in the distance. Every day, I woke up feeling grateful and in awe of this place we now call home. That’s when the idea to share this experience took root. We wanted everyone to find the same peace we found here, with the soothing sounds of water and the beauty of nature all around. We started by renting out our home when we traveled, then expanded with Wandering Dunes. Wandering Dunes has a charm all its own, with magical murals and a bunk room straight out of Peter Pan, everyday is an adventure, rain or shine. For us, it's all about creating spaces where families can make lasting memories and find true relaxation. We’re passionate about these sanctuaries. Come stay with us—you deserve a little peace, and we’re here to help you find it.
Why they chose this property
Because most beach houses make you choose — great for kids or great for adults. Wandering Dunes doesn't. The bunk room with hand-painted murals and the hidden octopus scavenger hunt take care of the kids. The hot tub, king beds, espresso machine, and master balcony overlooking the Pacific take care of everyone else. Add a game room, a beach boardwalk literally next door, and a town that delivers fresh Dungeness crab off the boats — and you have a trip that works for the whole group, not just the loudest members of it.
