Convenient home base for COS area
This well-equipped home fully met our expectations. The location was very convenient to Colorado Springs, points west of town, and the local shopping/tourist district.

Lovely comfortable home.
This home suited our needs very well. It is spacious, light and airy, clean, comfortable, and convenient. The kitchen (and really the whole house) was very well equipped, and it was nice to have two bathrooms in a home this size. I would definitely stay here again if the chance arises. I'm not sure who the neighbors downstairs were, and they most certainly did not disturb us, but when I realized I could hear someone downstairs yawning, I worried a little about disturbing them.

We are so glad that you found everything you needed. You were staying in our home away from home and we have it equipped just the way we like it.

Wonderful getaway!
We celebrated a late Christmas with our adult children who live in COS, and we fell in love with this place. It is charming and well maintained. The views of the mountains from the living room and sitting room off the master bedroom are stunning. There is a nice TV, and we were a little taken aback because there was no cable/dish, but it ended up being perfect because we hooked it up for a few movies and spent time with each other instead of with the TV. The owner was very responsive for all of our questions. We will definitely be back!

Glad you enjoyed your stay! Hope you will have a chance to get back again in the future.
What we liked: We were very happy with the location. We were half a mile away from Old Colorado City and could walk to restaurants and shops. The house was spacious and comfortable. As another reviewer stated, the pictures did not do it justice. There is a fenced yard for the dogs and parking in the alley was easy. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed.
Be aware that it is a upstairs/downstairs duplex. We could hear the tenants below and smell when they were cooking. I'm sure they could hear us walking around too.
I only gave it three stars for cleanliness because there were food splatters on the lower kitchen cabinets, dirty splatters and handprints on some of the doors, and the can opener was a joke. We had to finish opening a can with a knife. This was more like a typically lived in home than a super clean house I usually rent. All that is pretty minor in the scheme of things. Overall, we enjoyed our stay.

I'm so glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay in our rental house. I'm sorry that it was not as clean as you might have liked (or as we expected it to be). We have addressed this situation with our cleaning company and hope to have it rectified for the next guest. Thank you for letting us know about the can opener! We only know about things when guests communicate with us! A new one is on it's way. We'd love to have you back next time you are in the Springs!
You will fall in love with this quaint safe neighborhood and the charm and coziness of this home. My favorite things were the large windows and backyard to sit in looking at the mountains. Hosts were kind and responsive. Highly recommend
We loved our stay! We had everything we needed. Excellent communication with the owners. We would stay here again and highly recommend this place. Thanks Brie and Bryan!
Could not have imagined a better location for our vacation in "The Springs." 2 minutes by car to grocery, gas, pharmacy, liquor store, etc., plus a great old-school burger shack. 10-20 minutes by car to Garden of the Gods, Red Rock Canyon, Pikes Peak Cog Railway, Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, etc., etc. Lots of restaurants within walking or very short driving distance. The elementary school playground two blocks away was a great spot for our toddler to romp around in the afternoon. Comfy beds. Two full bathrooms, both updated recently. Background, front porch, and reading nook all boast nice mountain views. Best of all, the hosts were great at staying in communication.
A/c issued on arrival day. Owners were proactive, called for repair same day. Notified me as FYI and followed up. Repaired same day. Good location, great experience. Deer outside back yard!

So sorry you had to deal with the AC problem! Glad to hear you were still able to enjoy your stay!
I totally recommend this property. The whole process was easy start to finish. Bryan answered me immediately, sent recommendations on restaurants etc. The house is charming and tons of room, we stayed in the upstairs of the house. We were in need of nothing there. They even provided a book of things to do/see and planes to eat/shop. The property is in walking distance of cute shops and places to eat. Would stay here again!!! Lisa Chase
This house has a great location--within walking distance of the Old Colorado City restaurants and with easy access to hiking. The space is roomy and pleasant with good natural light and great storage, especially in the kitchen.

Excellent Location, great facility for the price
I ended up picking this home for the location and price, but was even more impressed when I arrived. About 50 feet away from his front porch is one of the most beautiful view of Pikes Peak. Better than the view in Manatou Springs. The location was amazing- great little shops in Colorado City and some of the best affordable restaurants in the city. Easy to get to Mannatou Springs or Fort Carson or Garden of the Gods.
Most importantly Bryan the owner is incredibly responsive. If you need help or advice he is around to assist.
The kitchen is huge and has lots of space and all sorts of cooking supplies. Would recommend bringing or renting a bicycle in warmer months. Very Satisfied with my stay.
One note - recommend coming into the parking place (which is incredibly convenient) from 18th Street , since the road is wider on that side.
Highly recommend for the location and price.

Great location
If you want a centrally located property in Colorado Springs in a quiet neighborhood this is the property. Just a short drive to Pikes Peak, Manitou Springs, Cheyenne Canyon Park, Air Force Academy, rafting in Canon City, Old Colorado City, Royal Gourge, and whatever else you want to do. There's a grocery store, pharmacy, and coffee shops you can walk in 5 minutes or drive to 2 minutes. If you like BBQ, don't miss Front Range BBQ. Owner was very responsive and easy to deal with.

Quaint house, wonderfully set up
The house is lovely setup. It is great for 2 couples. The two bedrooms are wonderfully setup with the reading nook directly off one. The thing that surprised us the Most though was the deer walking through the yard in the morning. What a great way to be awoken.
It is a great place to go for quiet, relaxing getaways. Best of all, it is near to downtown Old Colorado City, Garden of the Gods, Manitu Springs, and other great destinations. We arrived with bikes and would have loved to use them but snow on the ground did not help.
Note: For this property, you must really park in back since you only have "keyed" access to the back door.

Family getaway
We enjoyed our stay at this residence and have no real complaints at all. It is roomy, and had every amenity we needed for our family of five. It is a few blocks from a great shopping district, and is in a quiet, pleasant neighborhood. The only liability might be that there is a little too scant sleeping space for a larger family--it is better suited for 3 or 4 people. The air mattress for my son was defective, but Brian reimbursed us for a new one. Great reading library, and a well-lighted porch on which to read. It is an older house, but not decrepit at all--it has charm.

The unit has two queen sized beds and we had previously offered an inflatable mattress for additional capacity, but this has proven to be unsatisfactory and unreliable. We hope to find an appropriate sofa sleeper to match our décor and upgrade the living area to have a more reliable and comfortable sleeping space for overflow this summer. We are so happy you enjoyed the library and the reading space!

Parents Weekend charmer
We stayed here over the Air Force Academy's Parents Weekend. It served our needs very well and was quite spacious. The location was central to many of our activities and it was very quiet. Having laundry facilities in the basement was wonderful. We enjoyed our stay immensely.

LYNNE FROM PHOENIX, AZ
CONVENIENTLY LOCATED TO I-25; OLD COLORADO CITY, DOWNTOWN, PIKES PEAK COG RAILWAY, GARDEN OF THE GODS, USAF ACADEMY, BROADMOOR RESORT, ETC. OWNER PROVIDED 95% OF WHAT A RENTER WOULD WANT (EXCEPT NO CABLE TV). HOUSE IS VERY ROOMY INSIDE - DINING/LIVING/BEDROOM HAVE LOTS OF SPACE.
WE WERE TWO FEMALE ADULTS (POST 65 YEARS OF AGE) SO CANNOT SPEAK ABOUT YOUNG CHILDDREN OR TEENS UTILIZING HE FACILITY WITH PARENTS. WE SPENT TWO WEEKS AT 1816 W BILOU ST AND ENJOYED OURSELVES VERY MUCH. CAN RECOMMEND EDELWEISS RESTAURANT, FLATIRON RESTAURANT AND THE TAVERN AT THE BROADMOOR. THE GOLDEN BEE AT THE BROADMOOR WAS A DISAPPOINTMENT.
TWO OUT-OF-TOWN DAY TRIPS WERE MADE TO CRIPPLE CREEK (WINDING ROAD AND HIGH ELEVATION) AND CASTLE ROCK (DO NOT MISS THE BARN, CHIC ANTIQUE STORE). MANITOU SPRINGS IS FUN TO ROAM AROUND, BUT METERED PARKING IN TOWN IS MANDATORY.
BOOK AND HAVE A GREAT TIME.

About the host
Hosted by Bryan Carlson
We are a family living in Fort Worth, TX. We found Colorado Springs when we attended Colorado College over several summers to get our Masters' Degrees and fell in love with the city! We bought this house in our favorite area, Old Colorado City, and have spent the past summers enjoying, updating and decorating it!
Why they chose this property
We love the area. Walking to shops, concerts and parks is a great way to relax and slow down for a break. The unique touches in the house such as the vaulted ceilings, original push-button light switches, charming reading nook, open layout and just-the-right-size comfy-coziness!
What makes this property unique
The house has retained its original charm and has the benefit of an eclectic and vibrant neighborhood. We love that you can walk to so many activities, stores and restaurants! It's all right there, including I-25 if you need to go exploring via car! We couldn't ask for a better vacation home and we hope you love it too!
