The location is absolutely stunning and the home is very nice and spacious, with two bathrooms, cozy bedrooms and a large living room and kitchen. You can hear the ocean waves and seagulls while sitting in the living room.
Stunning views, comfortable home with everything we needed
This was one of my favorite places I have ever stayed, anywhere. It was extremely comfortable and quiet, with a bank of windows looking out over the bay and a long way down the coast; we spent hours watching the waves rolling in from the sea, the changing tides and weather ranging from brilliant sun to rain, storms, and rainbows over the water. We enjoyed making fires in the woodstove, and sitting outside at the picnic table when the weather was good for that. It’s also
Gort na Cúile was one of my favorite places I have ever stayed, anywhere. It was extremely comfortable and peaceful, with a bank of windows looking out over the bay and down the coast, to beautiful bluffs and mountains above the sea.I was teaching online during our week there and the internet worked well; when I wasn’t working we enjoyed watching the waves rolling in from the sea, the changing tides and weather ranging from brilliant sun to rain, storms, and rainbows over the water. It was lovely having fires in the wood stove, and sitting outside at the picnic table when the weather was good. It’s an easy walk down to the rocky bay below the house and a short drive up to the tip of Malin Head to watch the sunset. It’s also a relatively short drive to many other beautiful places: on various days we swam at Culdaff beach and visited Bocan Stone Circle; drove to the amazing Knockamany lookout point over the mouth of Trawbrega Bay then down to Five Finger Strand; found beautiful rocks at Ballyhillin beach and visited St. Mahar’s church on the north coast. On days with more time we made easy trips to Derry, the Grianan of Aileach hillfort, Inch Island bird refuge, and Beltany Stone Circle; and took a ferry across Lough Foyle to visit Dunluce Castle and the Giant’s Causeway in Northern Ireland. This is a wonderful place to stay alone or with others in all kinds of weather, and our host Kevin was very helpful as well. Highly recommended!
