About this property
Elnan Cottage - A quiet escape
This early 20th century 3-bedroom house has been extensively refurbished and modernized. It sleeps 6 with two double bedrooms and one twin bedded room. There are two bathrooms, (one en suite), a sitting room/dining area and separate kitchen. The house is set back from the road, nestling at the foot of a mountain. A large grassed area at the front of the house provides space for children to play, (but due to a shallow stream on the boundary, young children should be supervised). The village of Ballyliffin is a short distance away with a shop, petrol station, fast food shop and four large hotels. The world renowned Ballyliffin Links Golf Course is visible from the house and less than a mile away by road. The nearest beach, Pollen Bay is a short drive away and is just one of the many picturesque beaches within easy reach of the house. Situated on the Inishowen Peninsula this house is in one of Ireland's most beautiful areas. Opportunities for walking, cycling , golf, surfing and horse riding are all close at hand, as well as places of historical interest.

We loved our stay at the cottage. The location was fantastic, the cottage was well set up and spacious. We already booked it for our holiday next year.

We really enjoyed our stay there. It's in a lovely peaceful area and close to amenities and some lovely beaches and interesting areas to visit. I loved being able to just switch off as we all did. The cottage is very comfortable, cozy and well maintained

So glad that you enjoyed your stay and that the house and facilities met your needs, and gave you the opportunity to relax.
My sisters and I had a great stay at Elnan Cottage, a wonderful place to explore all that the Inishowen Peninsula has to offer. One evening, we walked to Nancy's Barn for traditional Irish music and drinks and had a fabulous lunch there the next day. In the morning, we walked on the stunning nearby beach. The cottage is well-equipped and super comfortable. I'm looking forward to returning!
This is a lovely cottage, beautifully restored. There was everything you could need for your stay. The double bed was a little low for me and the television was pretty high on the wall, but otherwise it was a great place. Susan met us when we arrived and she gave us lots of suggestions for places to visit and also for pubs/restaurants - most of which we went to.
Beautiful location. And the picture of he cottage don't do it justice. The cottage is several hundred years old, but they've done a fabulous job with the remodel. It was warm & comfortable. The kitchen had everything you could hope for and the internet was good too.

Thank you for your comments, so glad you had a comfortable stay and the cottage met your needs. We have plans to update the photos, thank you for pointing that out.
Beautiful location for a lovely cottage. Views were brilliant of the Atlantic Ocean, country fields and nearby hills. My friend and I played the Glashedy Links and the Old Course on the superb Ballyliffin Golf Course. You can see the club's golf course from the front door of the cottage. The weather was amazing for the time of year 13th to the 16th of November. Our wives enjoyed driving around viewing the area and the great scenery. We all had a great time and looking forward to staying there next year.

So glad that you enjoyed your stay and the house met your needs. Susan and Philip do a brilliant job looking after the place for us. Thank you for your comments. Hope we can welcome you back in the future.

Lovely family stay in the Elnan Cottage - Ballyliffin
Fantastic cottage with loads of space to relax as a base for a visit to the area for a wedding.
Comfortable home with lots of space and plenty of extras in the cottage.
We had great weather so did not use the heating but this was all explained upon arrival but having WiFi definitely helped for the kids to get connected. There was also lots of games, books, dvds etc for you to make use of.
Great check-in and check-out process and we would definitely stay again to visit the surrounding area.

Stayed for 1 week and it was a lovely location. Had all mod cons but still had character. Short drives to many scenic areas. Near restaurants, shops and takeaways. Thanks to Susan, Phillip. Looking forward to staying again in the near future.
The cottage is clean, cosy and well kitted out, very well located and Susan and Phillip were more than welcoming.

So pleased that the cottage is considered to be well equipped and meets guests everyday needs. Our hosts do an excellent job of looking after the property and welcoming guests in our absence.
About the host
Hosted by Pat & Barbara
This was my parents house, and where my mother was born. I have been going to this house since I was six months old, and when I inherited the house and surrounding fields, I couldn't bear to part with it. One day I hope to retire here and enjoy the peace and tranquility of the area.
What makes this property unique
This house was built early in the 20th centuary, and I remember the big open turf fire where all the cooking was done, along with going out to the small stream that runs beside the property to get the drinking water. It has now been brought into the 21st centuary, but you can still see signs of the old building layout.
