WARNING: BEDBUGS. I stayed at a Descansa property in NE Portland in November 2025 and had to evacuate the apartment due to a bedbug infestation. The property managers provided no support during the process of emergency evacuation—which included finding last-minute housing, organizing transportation, packing, and managing infested personal items. Before my departure, a pest control specialist verified the presence of the bedbugs as a long-term infestation, confirming the property managers were in direct violation of basic health and safety standards and did not meet the expectation of a clean, safe, and habitable environment guaranteed by the property listing. Despite this, the managers have ignored my requests for a full refund, implying that it was my responsibility to recognize the bedbug bites when they first appeared on my wrists a few nights after my arrival at the property, and refusing to acknowledge the negative impacts of this experience on my health and work.
