The Most Peaceful Hill Country Cabin with Swimming Hole, Firepit, & Pool Table
Our cozy cabin has this easygoing charm that keeps folks coming back again and again. It’s simple in the best way — the kind of place where you can truly relax, breathe deep, and just *be* for a while.
One of the best parts about staying here? The wildlife. You’ll wake up to birds singing, might spot some deer grazing nearby, and if you sit still long enough, nature tends to show off a little. Whether you're into birdwatching or just love seeing animals do their thing, it’s pretty magical.
The cabin sits on a private ranch with tons of space to roam. Feel free to throw on your hiking boots (or not — no judgment) and explore the land. There’s wildflowers, open skies, and even Jacob’s Creek — just a short walk away. It’s got crystal-clear water and giant limestone rocks that feel like something out of a movie. Perfect for a dip, a photo, or a moment of peace. The creek does go dry when we are experiencing drought. Please message us before booking your trip if you are booking specifically to enjoy the creek. We can let you know the current water level.
Want to just chill? We’ve got you covered. Curl up in the hammock, let the kids run wild, or kick back for a movie night — Netflix, Prime Video, and all your favorite streaming apps are ready to go.
And if your idea of the perfect evening involves a fire, we’ve got a big stone firepit that’s just begging for s’mores and stories. With the stars overhead and the sounds of the country around you, it’s the kind of night you’ll want to bottle up and keep forever.
We’re about a half-hour from town, but don’t worry — you don’t have to go anywhere unless you want to. Walmart, HEB, Costco, and Target all deliver right to the cabin through their apps or Instacart. Super handy if you want to stay tucked in.
If you *do* decide to head out, Hillbilly’z is a local burger spot just 5 miles away and totally worth it. And in the opposite direction, you’ll hit Black Board BBQ — a Texas Monthly favorite and a serious must-try. Plus, Boerne and Comfort are both just short drives away if you’re in the mood to explore shops, art, and small-town goodness. Wine lovers, take note: Hill Country wineries aren’t far either.
So come unplug, unwind, and make some memories. Once you’ve been here, you’ll get why so many people keep coming back.

Lovely secluded place with a large house for a cabin. Met with a few friends for the weekend. Liked that we were able to shoot some pool. The beds were comfortable. It’s a very quiet place and you can hear the birds singing while you sit outside and have your coffee. Kitchen was missing a couple of basic items but nothing to have heartburn over. Overall we had a great time. The owner is very friendly.
Truly peaceful and just as described. Do not skip Hillbillyz, Sister Creek Winery, and Cave with no name. This is the best place to unwind!

About the host
Hosted by Joey Nikolas
My parents and 3 out of their 4 adult kids along with their families all live here on the ranch in the various houses on the property. When possible, we make dinner at the main house and eat together. It’s a great way for the grandkids to grow up!
Why they chose this property
We all moved from Hawai’i two years ago, and wanted to be somewhere in Texas that had its own natural beauty, like we love on Kaua’i. The Hill Country was the obvious choice with its abundant wildlife, crystal clear rivers, limestone ridges, and friendly people.
What makes this property unique
If you watched wrestling in the 80’s or even the film “The Iron Claw”, you know about the grief our dad has experienced in losing all five of his brothers and later, his parents. What the movie didn’t show is the next chapter for him, the one where he is joyful and surrounded by his grandkids either riding the 4 wheeler down to swim in the river, climbing trees or catching snakes…all of his very favorite things. If you meet Kevin when you stay with us, you’ll immediately notice his deep and genuine happiness. His 18 years that God gave him of diving for fish and eating fresh coconuts on Kaua’i are really what put the light back in his eyes. As he would say, “but it’s not Texas.” So we came back to Texas, determined to find a place for him to be surrounded by his family and full of natural beauty and fresh water. We found it. And we’d love to share this next sweet chapter with the fans and friends who went through the harder parts of the story alongside us.
