Nearly ideal week. My only issue was with the adjacent property/construction and a generator that was running day and night for several days that we stayed at the property.

Thanks Linda for your review. As for the Generator issue, we have worked tirelessly with the Police, the Vidanta resort and the Ambient Protection Agency to have this issue dealt with… We can Thankfully Report that the “Generator” has been Shutdown (Permanently), we are so grateful we were able to eliminate this frustrating and annoying matter, thanks
you for your patience and understanding…. Take much care as always!! Warmest Regards Chantel and Clayton
One of the most amazing views of the Pacific Ocean from the pool to the master bedroom. You could hear the ocean crash against the rocks you were so close. We watched the whales migrate from the pool with binoculars. Please note you will HAVE to rent a car. A small SUV is worth the extra dollars as you have a two mile (rough) dirt road. Also San Juan is about 25-30 minutes away from the house. If you are looking for seclusion especially if it is a romantic vacation then I highly recommend this home.
My wife and I were excited to return to Zacatito's after having the home we had previously visited many times sold. Casa Kiefer is a private, well loved home on the edge of the neighborhood with access to the water directly in front of the home. We enjoyed the uncrowded beach for walks and a week of quiet surroundings. Everything about Casa Kiefer was comfortable from the bed to the lounge chairs by the pool, to the living room furniture. The kitchen is well appointed with everything you could possibly need. The rest of the amenities such as beach chairs and kayaks are there for your use if motivated. Don't miss the small soaking pool at waters edge in the gulf at low tide or a trip to Zai Sushi, a short drive up the coast. Zacs, a short walk from the casa, is a wonderful restaurant/bar as well. We can't wait to return. Thanks to Chantel for great communication in arranging our stay,

Thank you so much Steve for the wonderful review of our Casa. We are delighted that you guys had a great stay. We are also looking forward to some well deserved quiet solitude on December 31st. I hope you think of us again when booking your next vacation.

Stunning house. Stunning beach. Loved the community and Zac's and the Farmers Market. The donkeys! The whales! The new Thai restaurant. The sunrises and sunsets; the hills behind the house. The rocky path to the secluded beach.
The house is bigger than it looks in the pictures. It is quite a place.
All the reviews of Casa Keifer are spot on.
There is that monstrous structure being built that you can see and hear. It is a shame but the beauty of the house and area shine.
Thank you Chantal and Clayton. Thank you Lisa and Russ.
Not knowing what to expect when traveling out of country is nerve wracking. This place is truly a place to stay. Quiet, friendly small community away from the hustle and busle of Cabo. Wish we would have booked more nights here and less in Cabo. Paradise in Mexico. Do yourself a favor and dont hesitate to book your vacation here. Cant wait to come back since we know what to expect now. Amazing views, great house, donkeys, chipmonks and wildlife around. Cant say enough about house and small community. Not many places left you can leave the screen doors open and not lock the house. Till next time thanks Chantel and Clayton. Go Predators by the way. We love hockey too. Thanks again
Quiet getaway -- perfect for couples looking to RELAX
What an awesome place! The location is fantastic -- at the very edge of a quiet community, with a fabulous beach view. The house is just a 50-yard walk to the public beach access; the Sea of Cortez is beautiful, but had some big waves and strong currents, so we only waded. We spent the majority of our time on the covered lanai, lounging on the outdoor couches and beach chairs and in the pool. Sleeping on the hanging bed outside, under the stars, was absolutely amazing, and definitely worth the few bug bites we got. It was a week of pure relaxation, peace and quiet. Exactly what we needed.
This is a perfectly sized beach house for a couple or two couples who really like each other (there's not a ton of privacy for 4 people). The house is fully appointed with everything you need -- dishes, appliances, food basics (olive oil, coffee, etc.). There is a generator and machine shed just below the house, which was mildly annoying at first, but we quickly became used to the white noise (you can still hear the waves over it).
My only wish is that the pre-trip communication would have been a bit better. I had to reach out to ask for directions and check-in instructions; the owner and hosts were responsive, but I would've liked them to be a bit more pro-active. I would have appreciated a head's up about the road into Zacatitos, which is ROUGH. I would've rented a better car had I known that. There also weren't substantial check-out instructions, so I hope I left everything okay!

Thank-you for your kind words and the wonderful review you posted about your stay with us…we appreciate the candid reminder that we are indeed located in rural Off Grid community, and the last 3 kilometer drive into Zacatitos is off of the paved highway. As a community we do our best to maintain this short and sometimes bumpy portion of the road.
In regards to the "Generator", we are Pleased to report that with the help of the San Jose Police and the Department of Ambient Protection Agency, this matter has been eradicated, and the Generator has been “Shut down permanently”! Thank -you for your patience and understanding….
We Love Mexico; even though we have discovered that these kinds of issues are not simple to address, but; with perseverance can be achieved. We look forward to continuing to share our Little (Once again) “QUIET" Piece of Paradise with all… Thanks again Heather for choosing to stay with us you are welcome back anytime!
Warmest Regards

My husband and I traveled to Zacatitos looking for quiet and relaxation away from hustle and bustle. That is exactly what we found!
I can not speak more highly of Chantel who was more than accommodating to our highly specialized situation. We recently had a death in the family and were just trying to make our planned vacation work for a couple of days. She allowed us to move our vacation forward two days to help us. The home was cleaned and ready for us 48 hours before we were scheduled to arrive. That was with less than 48 hours notice. Amazing!
The home and area were exactly as described. We enjoyed a few nights at Zac's, totally within walking distance of the home.
My only issue was the generator that runs quite frequently which is right outside the front of the home (we were also prepared for this from previous reviews). The last night we were there it ran the entire night and since the home doesn't have A/C (which is advertised so not a surprise) it was quite disruptive all night for sleep. Honestly, it was more the smell of the generator as opposed to the noise for me. However, my biggest issue is that I think the photos need to be updated. The arial photos of the property indicate that you have a completely clear view of the ocean and that is not the case. A fairly large wharehouse/workshop has been built partially in front of the home along with the generator. The current arial photos show all sand and beach in front of the home which is not accurate.

My girlfriend and I greatly enjoyed our week here. The house has many wonderful features. And the setting is magnificent! I'll try to clarify what may be confusing from previous reviews. There is no longer a generator running nearby, as apparently there was several years ago. There is, however, a building right next door (in fact, partly between the house and the beach) owned by the Vidanta Resort, which is about a mile away down the beach. The building is a staging area for the resort's construction supplies, and we were told it might also contain their water desalination machinery. Besides not being attractive, it didn't bother us during our stay. The kitchen was wonderful, and we enjoyed cooking here. If there were any shortcomings, it would be that the ants in the kitchen were ubiquitous, and that the oven does not get very hot. But those are small stuff. Overall, the place is great. Relaxing on the covered deck with the pool was the best.
This house is SO beautiful, and the photos barely do it justice! It is comfortable, welcoming, well -appointed, and close to San Jose del Cabo, as well as the local restaurant, Zac's. It is very centrally located to other resorts and homes to stay in, as well as to numerous lovely beaches and mountain vistas - not to mention the beautiful beach right down the hill. We truly felt like we were coming home every evening after our excursions, and jumped in the pool multiple times a day. We saw many burros, iguanas and birds, and very few people (in the good way). We also visited the local farmers market, where we had breakfast, and a fascinating conversation with a local about sustainability and off the grid living. I have read reviews of this home where people have complained about the construction - we never had any issues. There is construction going on, but it is during working hours, and the workers are just doing their jobs. They were respectful and non-invasive. There are still gorgeous views of the ocean, and will continue to be after the new build is finished. Communication with the owners was always on point, and I felt comfortable going there, knowing would have a great place to stay. This exceeded our expectations. Do not hesitate, and book this now, you will not regreat it!
We loves this comfortable set up with all the things! Great pool and outside lounge area. The only issue were the sounds of construction, but that's just life! A wonderful and enjoyable stay!

Overall excellent location ....too bad for the all day construction noise from the neighboring property. Lisa is wonderful!
This vacation was the best we have ever had of our many stays in Cabo. The house was amazing. It is well stocked with everything you will need to cook during your stay. I loved the hanging bed outside. It was nice to sleep under the stars. It is so peaceful and quiet there. We had the beach to ourselves most of the time. The swimming pool is amazing. The highlight of the week was the animals that you will not see if you stay in town. We feed the antelope chipmunks and iguanas every morning. The chipmunks are so little and very fast. I LOVED the donkeys. They came to the fence and waited on me to feed them apples and carrots. We saw Van Gough (the one eared donkey). We also saw some beautiful horses. If you need to unplug from the world this is the house to stay. It was the best trip! We will stay with you again.

So Very happy you enjoyed your stay and look forward to seeing you again. Lisa
This place is perfect for people who want to be away from the crowds with a gorgeous view and no hassles. We surfed and fished and cooked epic meals. I just wish it was a bigger house so I could bring more friends and family. Definitely my go to place for a 2 bedroom on the East Cape.
The owner and property manager were super responsive and thank you so much for everything! I can’t say enough about our trip!
We had the beach to ourselves the whole week! And the night sky over the water had us outside all night!
We look forward to booking again!
Our stay in Zacatitos was perfect for our anniversary getaway. The home is beautiful and well appointed for our stay. We enjoyed jumping in the pool to cool off and lounging in the shade to read a book. It was nice being so close to the ocean and hearing the waves throughout the day and night.
The only downside that could potentially be disruptive for future guests is the construction taking place directly in front of property. During our stay there were two workers working the majority of the day during the duration of our stay. It wasn’t a big deal as they kept to themselves but they were there. It could become noisier as continue to build.
One recommendation for future guests is that we would highly recommend renting an off-road worthy vehicle. We rented a Jeep and many times were grateful that we weren’t in an economy car navigating the rocky roads to get to and explore around the property.
Overall, our stay was amazing and I’d highly recommend to anyone!

Perfect- Relaxing- Enjoyable
I apologize, I have written several times and it appears you did not receive.
First, let me say that we will be back next year! That should indicate how much we enjoyed ourselves.
Second, as this was our 2nd time staying we took a chance and did more "exploring". Flora Farms, probably was our favorite as it was close and convenient . Taken the drive up the coast to Cabo Pulmo was a beautiful trip.
Third, sitting on your own beach, we saw maybe 10 people on the beach during our whole stay.
Fourth, whale watching right from your own deck was spectacular. ( Although you may want to bring your own binoculars as the ones there are difficult to focus)
Fifth,
Fred C.

lovely, wonderful, so happy to stayed there
The house was a perfect size for my family, the location perfect, the views were beyond perfect. Whales were visible from the deck all day long. Two nights I slept on the outdoor hanging bed under the stars with a very beautiful and bright moon in the sky and reflecting on the water...simply priceless...I camp quite a bit but when we camp it is either too buggy to sleep without a tent or too cold, so this was something special! We enjoyed long walks on the beach, enjoyed exploring walking up the washes coming from the the hills down to the beach, my nine year old thoroughly enjoyed sledding down the sand dunes and seeing the wild horses and burrows. I was a bit nervous about the riptides and such so we didn't go in the ocean maybe as much as had hoped but we ventured down the road to a very safe nearly waveless spot for my nine year olds first snorkeling experience. Without a doubt if we go back to San Jose, this will be the place we stay!

Thank you so much for your kind words, we installed the hanging bed when
we were there in December, I to slept outside and it has to be the best view on the property!! The ocean in-front of our property is safe for swimming, there or no ripe tides or undercurrents that you have to be worried about at all. Please do come back we would love to have you come and stay, next time your son
can feel comfortable with going into the ocean to snorkel without being nervous about a dangerous riptide.
Thanks so Much again!! We love the place as well!!!

Wow!
I have rented ~ 25 oceanfront homes in the Caribbean (St John, Tortola, St Barth, Vieques, & Culebra), Costa Rica, and on North Carolina's Outer Banks. This home has the best view we have ever had! The home is very well designed and is very well equipped including a large stock of staples. The owner, Chantel, and the property manager, Lisa, were very good to work with. Just a "WOW"
Pictures do not due it justice. I arrived, should have followed directions given rather than use GPS, a male thing! It is a perfect location for relaxation, watching the sunrise with a fresh cup of coffee, the ocean waves rolling in, the occasional slap of the waves, the walk down the beach which was virtually deserted was fantastic.
You can safely swim almost anywhere from the beach, surf fishing was great, WHALE watching from the beach, the deck and even from the master bedroom was great.
The accommodation fantastic, all furniture, dishes including silverware were of good quality. The place has everything you could want, including a Property Manager, Lisa, who was always available if you needed her. Only saw her once in 5 days, but talked to her twice, and both times phone answered on first ring! Just knowing she is close gives that added security.
Zac's restaurant, great food, friendly staff, close enough for a walk, if at night take a flashlight as it is quite dark, really dark. Also remember that Zac's is CASH ONLY!
Hard to believe there is such a great place available.
Internet/ WIFI was excellent. There was nothing you could criticize with the exception that you had to leave!
Make sure you buy just your groceries and drinks, for that is all that is required! Get enough so you don't have to leave, and are able to enjoy every single minute you have there.
ENJOY, and I am coming back!

Wonderful view in a peaceful setting.
The house has a great view and is in the unique community of Zacatitos. For us the only drawback was there was a well being drilled right in front of the property which went on dawn to dark even on Sunday. Ask owners if it still underway before you book. Not super loud but annoying in what would have otherwise been peaceful and quiet.

Such a treat!
We loved our stay at Casa Kiefer! Very private and everything was as stated in the description. Property manager, Stephanie, was a delight and helped us with a minor issue. When we were there towards the end of October, it was very hot for that time of year. It would have been great to have A/C just in the bedroom. Otherwise, everything else was perfect and we look forward to staying there again.

About the host
Hosted by Chantel and Clayton Kiefer
Hi, My name is Chantel Kiefer my husband Clayton and I are natives of Canada, we are both originally from Medicine Hat Alberta. Clayton and I reconnected 10 years after Graduation and; shortly there after and were Married Xmas Eve 1991. Clayton's work in the Oil industry took us to Edmonton, Alberta in January of 1992 where we have been living ever since. We have two daughters and 5 wonderful grand children. Clayton and I both come from big families: so, life has always been busy. Coming from a cold winter climate we have always looked forward to our vacations, which to our delight introduced us to Zacatitos.
Why they chose this property
This wonderful adventure started with a quick 7 day trip to a resort in San Jose in the spring of 2014. After browsing through one of the local Real estate Books, we found ourselves driving through the desert in a Jetta looking for a Grand Casa in a place called Zacatitos. (We never made it that trip!!), with all the buzzards flying overhead and the strange dessert road we were on, we figured that we MIGHT! be going the wrong way. Four months later on our next trip we contacted a realtor, so we could finish what we started. We both fell in love with Zacatitos the moment we arrived at the place. The house in question wasn't for us but, when he took us to this empty lot which seamed to be situated at the edge of the world, we knew; (THIS WAS IT "HOME"). When you sit on that Terrace and gaze out over the Sea of Cortez, and the seemingly endless beach you to, will know why we picked this magical spot.
What makes this property unique
Casa Kiefer's location is situated at the east edge of our wonderfully diverse community. The beaches you will be strolling along are steps from the front door, our coastline is one of the rare swim-able areas in 20 miles. With no neighbors on either side you can Truly experience our unobstructed views of where the Sea of Cortes meets the vast expanse of the Baja Desert. Whether you are lying in bed, relaxing on the terrace watching the desert come alive, reclining on the loveseat, laying on the outside hanging bed, or simply enjoying lunch under the pergola, the view will always be there for you to marvel at.
