About this property
Unique Chic Eco-Retreat in beautiful Zacatitos - designed by J. Campos
Kick back and relax in this calm, stylish space. Casa Leluya is located in Zacatitos, a true off-the-grid experience with a refreshing pool and great wireless internet connection. Remote, peaceful and quiet, yet only 20' drive from buzzing downtown San Jose Del Cabo with its art galleries, high-class restaurants and 5-star hotels. Pristine Playa del Zacatitos is a 10' walk and one of the few swimmable beaches in the entire Cabo area.
This is true indoor/outdoor living in a unique landscape. The unique design accommodates ambient airflows from the environment. The 2 main bedrooms are upstairs separated by a hallway. IF YOU BOOK FOR MORE THAN 4 GUESTS, WE WILL OPEN UP THE NEWLY ADDED ADD-ON CASITA WITH AN ADDITIONAL BEDROOM, A QUEEN-SIZE BED AND A PRIVATE BATHROOM (for additional fee). Please understand that we only open access if you pay for additional guests beyond 4.
Zacatitos is a very safe neighborhood, but for extra peace of mind: we have year-round 24-hour security in form of security guards in our community. They check who goes in and out through the only access road , and check the perimeters in regular intervals by foot or vehicle. No theft or any other security incidents were reported in 2023.

**THIS IS A NO-SMOKING HOUSE - BOTH INDOORS AND OUTDOORS**
Other than that, we let our guests and their reviews tell the rest of the story.
- Don, January 2023 - 'The quality of the home goes without saying, spotless and an architectural gem. We’ve been visiting Zacatitos for almost 20 years. If you like your cocktail served to you as you gaze across a manicured lawn, don’t come here. If you like swimming in the ocean first thing in the morning, then picking up some fresh seafood from an actual person who caught it as you walk back on a gravel road to the house past donkeys… Doesn’t get any better! Thanks!'
- Koko, September 2022 - 'This is a really cool house. We loved being off the beaten path, the unique lodging, and the gorgeous beach at Zacatitos. The place is remote but incredibly well stocked with all the necessities, and the bed is so comfy.'
- Nicole, August 2022 - 'We love this house! The architecture is stunning; we love the indoor-outdoor living and that the pool is central to the living area. We love that it's solar powered and off-the-grid. You can hear the waves in the distance, see the stars clearly at night, and you're not too far from Flora Farms, Acre, etc. Thomas and Rachel were very responsive to our questions, as was Lisa the property manager. Overall a great stay and we highly recommend this house!'
- Marion, May 2021 - '[The] place was a great escape from the hustle and bustle. It was nestled in a quiet, friendly neighborhood and unbelievably close to a beautiful beach. This home was clean and the pictures are accurate. The wild donkeys that roamed around the area stole my heart.'
- Elizabeth, August 2022 - 'Look no further this place is all that and more! What an incredible home and location. Imagine a architectural gem that is cozy and modern in harmony with the beautiful natural surroundings. Indoor/ outdoor living so thoughtfully designed to create a respite in the dessert while remaining intertwined. The views are incredible from every location from the mountains to the sea. A great spot for a morning or evening walk, near beaches, Zac's restaurant and convenient location to San Jose surf spots and all the treasures of the east cape. You won't want too leave!'
- John, October 2020 - 'Such a beautiful happy place in an expats beach neighborhood. People are very nice and the place is a ten minute walk from a spectacular beach. Can't recommend it enough.'
- Andrew, June 2019 - 'A lovely house that's just as good if not better than it looks on the photos! The design allows for afternoon breezes to flow through the house, and it's just extremely comfortable as a whole. Great stay! Highly recommended !!!'
- Peter, May 2018 - 'This is a perfect place to go shut off to the world and relax. Definitely found my home on the East Cape.'
Isabella, November 2020 - 'This place is incredible! So close to the beach and so many wonderful things to do. Exactly what we needed and I will definitely come back.'
This architectural masterpiece has been featured in many articles and magazines (*). Designed by renowned Canadian architect Javier Campos, it's a stunning centerpiece in the East Cape integrated into the desert landscape.
'We tried to create forms that are very simple and mirror the desert. The houses have the most minimal but essential sense of domestic luxury. It's all there; it's just very pared down' [Javier Campos, Architect]
The house is eco-friendly with stunning 360 views of the ocean and the desert. It runs 100% on solar power. It does not require air-conditioning, because the unique design allows for cooling airflows throughout.
It has all the modern conveniences - washing machine, dishwasher, refrigerator with ice-maker, freezer, barbeque, high-speed wireless internet, and cell phone signal. There is no TV, but there are books, games, and a beautiful swimming pool. There is also a gas fire pit which is great in the evening when the sky is full of stars.
It's a 10-minute walk to the beach and a 5-minute walk to Zac's Bar & Grill. Halfway to San Jose is Buzzards for great food, and Drunkin Sailor is located in La Playita. Flora Farms, Acre and Tamarindos are other great eating establishments nearby.
Zacatitos has a small Farmer's Market on Wednesday morning. Just ask someone and they will direct you to where it is. Get there early enough to get fresh veggies, eggs, chicken, tamales, bread, etc. There’s a much larger market in San Jose on Saturdays (starting in November) and the famous Art Walk every Thursday evening right in San Jose.
20 minutes to the west is San Jose, the nearest town with art galleries, great restaurants, and entertainment.
Further to the east (about 30 miles) you reach Cabo Pulmo National Park with its coral reefs and sea life (Jacques Cousteau called the Sea of Cortez the 'aquarium of the world' ). Great for scuba diving and snorkeling, and you will pass some of the best surf spots in all of Mexico on the way.
ENJOY your stay in Casa Leluya !
(*) The house was featured on the cover of the April 2013 issue of Canadian Architect Magazine and also in Wallpaper Magazine and New York Magazine in 2014.
