About this property
Holiday home in medieval wine town.
The Stone House is located in the beautiful town of Prichsenstadt in Germany. We offer Self-Catering accommodation ideal for family holidays in outstanding surroundings. The house has 3 bedrooms and sleeps up to 7 (max. 4 adults), infant facilities are available. The house offers all you will need for a comfortable holiday, a perfect place to relax, a base to explore the surrounding towns and countryside, or somewhere to hang up your riding or hiking gear at the end of a fabulous day! There is something for everyone. Of particular interest is the food, wine, history and culture of the area.
Prichsenstadt is in Franconia (or Franken in German), Northern Bavaria and is the 6th largest of the 13 wine producing areas of Germany and the only wine producing region in Bavaria. The area has a wonderful sunny, warm and dry climate suitable for vine growing, and is steeped in history and tradition. Tourism and agriculture, particularly viticulture, are the primary industries in the area.
There is plenty to do nearby and in the region, explore Franconia, the wine is a huge attraction to the area, there is a reason why the Germans keep the good stuff to themselves! Prichsenstadt is at the start of the “Romantische Straße” (Romantic Road), Germany's most popular holiday route, passing through many historic, beautiful medieval towns including Rothenburg, Dinkelsbühl, Nördlingen, ending in Füssen and the majestic Alps.
The Franconian 'Bocksbeutel Straße' is another tourist route through the area (Bocksbeutel is the bottle shape synonymous with Franconian wine). The Bocksbeutel Straße is a wine trail that runs through all the major wine producing villages and towns of which Prichsenstadt is one. Prichsenstadt is close to many beautiful ancient towns such as Rothenburg ob der Tauber, Bamberg, Nürnberg and Würzburg to name just a few. Bamberg Town and the Würzburg Residence are both UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
Prichsenstadt itself is a uniquely preserved medieval town retaining over 70% of the town walls, watchtowers, moat and town gate, it really is like staying in your own medieval castle. The town, which in reality is smaller than some of the surrounding villages, has all you will need.
Surrounded by open vineyards and beautiful peaceful countryside Prichsenstadt offers a perfect getaway, and the chance for a genuine Bavarian experience. Even though rural and quiet the town is still very much a working and thriving community with six winemakers, all happy for you to sample their wares and five cosy traditional Franconian restaurants all serving a delectable range of seasonal Franconian Cuisine.

This location and the town are both amazing. Perfect for a family vacation and an excellent location for many excursions. It is a wonderful spot to come back to after a day trip. So much to explore in beautiful Bavaria. This town is picturesque at every turn, and everyone we met was kind and helpful.
We really enjoyed our stay. It was nice that the home was traditional with modern updates to the kitchen and bathroom. We were too busy to get to the restaurants in town, but the bakery was delicious and the town was beautiful to walk through. We appreciated the welcome bottle of wine, bread, and hanutas! The 6am clock tower bells caught us off guard, but after a couple days we were able to sleep through them. Overall we're so happy with our stay and would highly recommend to others!
This is a top location.
Me and my friends had a realy good time in Princhsenstadt. If you visit this litle very pittoresk town, don t forget to visit the restaurant on the other site of de road from te bakery. They serve exelent foods and wines out of the region.

An amazing holiday in beautiful Bavaria
Prichsenstadt is a beautiful village with easy access to the rest of Bavaria. There are several good places to eat & the local people are very friendly. The house is clean, comfortable & full of character. There are many places to visit within an hour's drive. We particularly enjoyed the boat trip from Volkach along the river Main, the town of Rothenburg ob der Tauber, the Tiergarten in Nuremberg and the treetop walk in the Steigerwald. We would love to return one day.
Super Tage in mittelalterlicher Kleinstadt
Gruss Stefan
Driving through the city gates to get there was magical. Walking the vineyards was so romantic and the central location to other amazing cities make this place a gem. We were able to see Bamberg, Bayreuth, Wurzburg, Rothenberg on day trips and made it home for dinner. Only concern was spotty WIFI but who needs internet when you live in a medieval village?

Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, location
Disliked: Communication
Sonst alles in gebrauchsfähigem Zustand.
Wonderful and charming walled town with a welcoming community and warm home. We felt home .
Bells awoke us to two bakeries a few cafes. We walked everywhere. Through cobbled roads and stone paths to see vineyards, restaurants and ancient homes. Well groomed and maintained town.

About the host
Hosted by Mark Wolff
We live in Surrey with our 2 young children and co-own our holiday home in Germany with our parents. We travel here several times a year to enjoy the region and always return feeling refreshed. This property was bought because we love the area and we wanted to share it with our family. We always enjoy it and we hope you do also.
Why they chose this property
We have been coming to Franconia since 1999 when a family member retired in the area nearby. We all fell in love with the region and in 2007 we had the opportunity to purchase this property in this very remarkable town. We have been having happy family holidays here ever since. This area is easily accessible by car or air. We drive most often as it works for us.
What makes this property unique
There really is something for all the family in the area. The town is quiet and traditional and a chance to sample the outstanding food and wine that Franconia has to offer. The surrounding countryside is simply beautiful, the vineyards, orchards and fields around the town are all open to explore. The area is perfect for cyclists and hikers and includes the Steigerwald Nature Park, just a few kilometers away. For those needing more excitement there are several nearby bigger towns and villages to explore and one of Bavarias biggest theme parks just 7 km away.
