About this property
Extended stays are well discounted 1 bedroom apartment NOT an IKEA showroom!
This newly constructed building is in historic Chinatown.
This area of Vancouver is special, food, people, history. Our area of Chinatown is connected to historic Strathcona an area with many historic single family homes, parks and neighbourhood coffee shops. 650m away is Vancouvers seawall, a waterfront walk which connects several iconic waterfront locations,(Yaletown-Olympic Village-Granville Island-Kits Beach-English Bay-Stanley Park).
The changing atmosphere of Chinatown and its “lower rent” opportunities make Chinatowna great spot for innovation especially with food options . . Michelin Stars and Michelin Bibs are plentiful. But don’t leave without sampling the traditional and bbq duck!
A NYC lower east side vibe.

About the host
Hosted by Michael

I really like to wake up and make my own coffee. That’s pretty much why I have used rental platforms since they began.
Recently too many of these platforms have become IKEA showroom suites. They have zero character. I prefer to stay where people have actually lived. Where people have cooked meals and where everything necessary to do this is of a decent quality.
Original art, comfortable furniture, hand made solutions to constraints imposed by modern design.
Also a personal and real communication with someone rather than with a corporate host who has multiple listings.
Stay here, ask questions, receive prompt and personal responses.

Why they chose this property
Chinatown is an old area that has had an important influence on Vancouvers development.
It’s where gentrification is being both “promoted” and discouraged.
Promoted by the city that sees gentrification as a way to mitigate the societal issues of homelessness and substance dependence problems that usually have trauma at its root.
For a traveler this can be a vibrant and varied community. One that provides wonderful places for food and social gatherings. Bars, restaurants and secret back room “speakeasy” cocktail bars.
However for “tourist” this area can prove to be too challenging. Staying here requires an ability to be non judgmental about peoples situations. I think Travelers understand what I am saying.
Come stay, ask questions, enjoy great food and wander through the streets of historic Strathcona.

What makes this property unique
All of what is contained in this apartment has been collected over years of living in Vancouver and traveling around the world. From art to books. Very little could be considered as being “off the rack”.
We have great unobstructed views of the city centre and the north shore.
Beautiful ceiling fans in both the living area and the bedroom. Other than a few plates, nothing is IKEA. That’s the best way I can think to say that this apartment is a comfortable and unique place to stay. When you come off the elevator you are face to face with a view. You’re outside and not in a hallway. This is better than most places available for short term rentals.
