I’m a proud native of Dubuque, Iowa, where I’ve lived most of my life, and I’m thrilled to share a piece of my journey with you through this special rental. I purchased this property in 1991, which included a charming barn built in 1944, and over the years, I’ve poured my heart into restoring it into what I like to call a modern rustic gem of the Midwest. It’s been a labor of love, blending the barn’s historic character with today’s comforts, like the adjustable beds, LED lighting, and that cozy 4-seasons room with its wood-burning stove. Every beam and detail tells a story, and I hope you’ll feel that warmth during your stay.
Now retired, I find joy in the simple things—spending quiet afternoons with my black Lab, Lydia, who’s my constant companion. We love exploring the nearby 2-acre city park, taking long walks, and soaking in the peaceful surroundings that make this area so special. Hosting has become a new passion for me, especially welcoming traveling professionals and their pets. I understand the need for a comfortable, home-like retreat after a long workday, and I’ve designed this space with that in mind—fully furnished, pet-friendly, and secure with seven cameras for peace of mind.
What I enjoy most about being a host is meeting people from all walks of life and hearing how this place becomes their home away from home. Whether it’s the park views, the rustic charm, or the convenience of parking steps from the door, I love knowing guests leave with a smile.
