Convenient, comfy and quiet

This apartment was our best during our stay. Ideally located, steps away from the subway, very quiet. We had a great stay !

Our family loved the location of this spacious apartment. It was just a short walk to the subway, buses, and the north side of Central Park.The beds were comfortable and there was a full set of new, good quality pots and pans in the kitchen.The street got a little noisy on a couple of the nights of our stay (this is to be expected in most parts of NYC) so if occasional night time noise bothers you, bring earplugs.This apartment was very reasonably priced and we would be happy to stay there again.

Neighborhood is very sketchy and NOT safe

Although this apartment was very clean and spacious and looked like the pictures as advertised, we had to leave and find a different apartment a few hours after checking in and exploring the neighborhood. The neighborhood was so bad and we felt very unsafe, especially because we had our teen daughter with us. This apartment is located in Harlem, on the north end of Central Park. We did not realize how bad the location would be and we should have researched it better. We ended up forfeiting our entire payment and we found a different place in lower Manhattan, thank goodness. So just beware: like I said, the apartment itself is very nice and clean (although it only has a mini-fridge with no freezer other than a tiny box in the mini-fridge that was a little bit colder, something we were surprised about), but if you are looking for a safe, nice neighborhood close to cafes and restaurants and shops, this is not the place to rent. The host was responsive and said she would try to rent it out again for the remainder of our dates from July 24-30, but told us she was unable to.

Grimy, broken, and scratching

When we looked at the pictures online, this place looked great, but when we showed up, we realized how much was left out of the pictures. Every nook and cranny of the apartment was covered in grime and it just felt gross to be in there. Several things were broken included radiator covers and the bathroom faucet. The sliding closet doors swung freely and could fall on a young kid. Also we heard scratching noises in the walls. In NYC, you can guess what that was. The building is not well maintained (dust and grime everywhere. The elevator up to the apartment felt like a subway elevator). It's a shame, because with a fresh coat of paint, pest control, and regular maintenance, this could be a decent place. I wouldn't stay here, or recommend it to anyone unless they were desperate. Also, when we brought our concerns up to the host, and asked if we could leave early and get a refund, they said, "you didn't book a 3 star hotel." I've stayed in over 30 Airbnb's and VRBOs and never left fewer than 4 stars. This place was awful.

Top apartment

Lovely apartment. Very spacious for Manhattan. The subway is very close so it was very easy to get to Time Square and mid town in general. Really enjoyed my morning stroll in central park as well. Host is very responsive, I recommend.
