About this property
2 Minute Stroll To The Beach From The 'Beach House'
At the top of the road you can ride the bike path as it winds past the old settlers' cemetery, or walk up the road into Algiers City Park. Four houses down Southwinds is the private beach access to the Gulf of Mexico beaches.
The beach house is freshly painted, and the large, soft turquoise master bedroom has a king bed, and a reading/TV watching area with leather Lazyboy recliner. The Master Bathroom's spa-like shower, in tumbled travetine and turquoise sea-glass is large enough for two. With your safety in mind our shower design includes a bench and grab bar.
The large guest bedroom, in calming blue, has a queen bed and leather Lazboy recliner and reading table.
The living room has soaring cathedral ceilings, and natural wood trim, adjoining a 30 foot screened porch to enjoy your morning coffee, and your evening glass of wine. Six glass doors slide aside to open the living/dining room to the sights and sounds of outdoors.
The cottage kitchen has dishwasher, microwave, fridge and stove, and lots of pull out shelves and cupboard space. The washer and dryer is on the main level between the bedrooms and kitchen for convenience.
The completely screened downstairs includes the heated pool, several sitting areas to meet your desire to be in the sun or shade. Also downstairs, right beside the pool, is the Gathering Room. This cool room, with a turquoise epoxied floor, has a man door, and also a garage door that opens the room up completely to the pool. You'll find a mini-fridge, plastic glasses and plates, coffee maker, books and games, and a single daybed that makes into a king bed.
Beside the Gathering room is the newly renovated cottage-like bathroom with white subway tile with blue/green glass tile trim shower, toilet and vanity. Wooden racks hold lots of colorful beach towels.
Beach chairs, umbrellas and coolers for your trip to the beach, and a Weber grill on the back deck.
The back yard is Conservation land, affording privacy, and the property is beautifully landscaped with Coconut Palms, Banana trees, and flowering shrubs.
Kick off your shoes, relax and escape to paradise at Southwinds . Life is Good.

Quiet, secure and very clean! So close to the beach & the best shelling on Sanibel!
I have spent several years in Florida and January the last two years at Jean's beautiful home. Sanibel is the crown of Florida and Jean's home is the crown jewel. If you are looking for a quiet getaway so close to the beach, yet a short drive to the shops on Periwinkle, this is it. The screened in porch, the pool and the wind through the palm trees makes this the perfect vacation home. I'd give it six stars if I could!

It is a joy for me to see people enjoy my home and the Sanibel paradise we are so luck to have. The January weather was perfect for enjoying cycling on the bike paths, and lazing in the hammock on the screened porch. You two know how to live life to the fullest. Can't wait to see you again.

It makes me happy to see you enjoy the Island, the neighborhood and the house. You treat my home as your own, taking very careful care of it. The outdoor plants benefitted from your green thumb. Look forward to seeing you next season.

Delightful!
We had a really terrific time here. Sooooo relaxing. The house is just very comfortable, very well maintained and Jean has thought of everything. Great beds, bathrooms and comfy sofas. It's very close to the beach and to the two main grocery stores and restaurants. We went nearly everywhere on the cycles which were in the house.
Each morning, we'd have a dip in the downstairs pool, take breakfast on the screened porch, walk along the beach, watch the dolphins playing and the brown pelicans fishing, and just sometimes interrupt this leisurely snails' pace schedule to make a plan. A Captiva cruise to the Edison Ford estate was well worthwhile. But the Ding Darling reserve was our favourite. The white pelicans were still there. Amazing!
Most of the local restaurants don't do what we think of as cooking, (it's more a production line of burgers, salads, pizza, salads, grilled or fried fish often very carelessly presented) but the Mad Hatter and Sweet Melissa both served imaginative, well sourced real cuisine with some flair.
Our thanks again to Jean and Wil for a wonderful month in the sunshine!

K & C... you two found the perfect balance.... relaxing and exploring Sanibel and the Fort Myers area..... even finding time to take in a Boston Red Sox game. We'd welcome you back when time permits. So happy you enjoyed Southwinds' quiet neighbourhood.... just steps to the beach.

A delightful,Sanibel home
Spent February 2014 in this wonderful house in Sanibel. The living space is very comfortable and spacious. The master bedroom has en suite bathroom, which has a delightful shower. Our miniature poodle loved the house as well as the short walk to the beach. We loved sitting on the screened in deck and relaxing in a fabulous hammock. The owners were very accommodating to all our needs and we're very helpful. I would recommend this place without reservation. We like it so much that we have booked for a. Extra month next year. The weather was glorious.

Great Sanibel vacation home
We spent a fabulous month in this comfortable and spacious home in a quiet residential neighborhood just a stroll to the gulf. The owner was very responsive and helpful in meeting all our needs. Our miniature poodle loved sitting on the screened-in deck overlooking the street. We enjoyed eating out on the deck and relaxing on the super hammock. There's also a heated pool inside a screened lanai, which is very refreshing. The house is surrounded by luscious palm trees where we encountered pilleated woodpeckers, osprey, and ibises. We've been to many places in Sanibel and this is our favorite one. We have already re-booked for an even longer stay next year.

Pleased you easily integrated into our friendly neighborhood, and enjoyed the peaceful setting backing on to the 9 acre sanctuary lands. Glad to hear you sampled the many restaurants on Sanibel, grillied on the back deck, and enjoyed the short walk to the beautiful Gulf of Mexico beaches.

Christmas in Sanibel 2013
Absolutely awesome staying at Southwinds felt like home, it was everything we imagined and hoped for. The house is in a location convenient to everything on the island. It was a short walk to some of the best shelling in Sanibel and the sunsets were beautiful. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed and the house was furnished beautifully. The screened in deck upstairs, pool and screened in recreation area downstairs were great. Our two sons and their family's including our 5 year old granddaughter joined us for Christmas week the 5 year old was thrilled to be there. Jean and her friend Wil were very accommodating, informative and helpful. Given the opportunity we would definitely rent this property again.

Art and Melinda;
It was such a joy seeing you embrace all that Sanibel has to offer -- local cuisine... boat rides to surrounding islands...golfing... the beaches and shelling. I'm delighted to hear that Southwinds made your family Christmas merry!
