Corea Cove Retreat

Nice house with 3 bedrooms and good wifi. Fantastic location in walking distance to a great lobster shack and Sand Cove beach. Shampoo, conditioner, and body wash were all included as well as a small amount of laundry and dish soap.

While the home has a good layout with three bedrooms and two bathrooms and would typically be a good place to stay, a few problems arose. Namely, with the cleanliness of the home. There were wads of hair/dust found in several rooms, the microwave was dirty, there was dried food stuck to the outside of the dishwasher, empty boxes piled up in a corner from former visitors, worn and uncomfortable sheets and blankets with odd stains, amongst other signs that the home was not properly cleaned. Presumably due to the uncleanliness and lack of proper pest control, there were spiders and cobwebs everywhere. While some level of spiders and cobwebs can be expected, the amount that got into the home and that surrounded the front entryway was more than expected. When we reached out with concerns about cleanliness, the company that owns this property, Vacasa, referred us to their “local team” that never got back to us. Despite the convenient layout and location along with some provided amenities, I’d recommend looking elsewhere for your next stay.

Please don’t get me started, as a very positive person I feel terrible writing this but this property need a deep cleaning and some upgrades. The furniture is from the 70’s: one dresser in the master and it doesn’t open, the mattress is paper thin, the bedding was disgusting and OLD and smelled so bad. I washed the comforters to make us feel somewhat ok about where we were sleeping. The comforter in the downstairs bedroom was filthy and so stained - I washed it and put it over the disgusting couch so we had a place to sit. We did not use that room bc it smelled so bad. The other upstairs room has steep attic like stairs and no light to get to it at night until you are up there. There are 3 doors on the bottom floor so anyone with small children, you will want to do what we did and carry the mattress and box springs upstairs with you to the master. Thankful we brought our daughter a blanket and felt somewhat comfortable she had a semi decent sleeping area. The floors were so dirty I used a whole box of wet mop pads from the swiffer we brought. Cleaned the bathrooms and kitchen sinks and counters. The toilets were brown and there was soap scum in the sinks. The kitchen sink had food stuck on it and the dishes were put away dirty with grease and food on them. The soap dispenser in the dishwasher does not deploy so you have to put the soap in without closing the soap door, we washed every dish/pan we used before cooking. Cleaned the fridge and windows were so dirty you can’t see.

House is adorable and newly renovated, located in a quaint fishing village. Fun and quiet place to explore, away from the Bar Harbor hustle and bustle. Really enjoyed being here! Nice to have access to kitchen and laundry. The only improvement we could think of is the check-in process; instructions weren’t fully accurate and had to work with local host to troubleshoot. Quick responses though, so easy enough to navigate. Might be easier on the host to just update their check-in instructions for future guests.
