Why they chose this property
We chose La Ecovilla because it is more than a neighborhood, it is a vibrant, international community. Here, you can join yoga, ecstatic dance, and singing circles, or simply share meals and stories with people from around the world. Families, couples, and world schoolers live side by side, creating an inspiring and welcoming atmosphere. What we love most is the Machuca River is a magical, swimmable river surrounded by monkeys, toucans, and lush tropical nature. English and Spanish are both spoken widely, making it easy to connect.
What makes this property unique
Our property is unique because it blends comfort, sustainability, and community in one space. The grounds are set within lush, highly permacultured gardens filled with tropical fruits and medicinal plants. Guests are surrounded by abundance of nature right outside their door. There is also a dedicated ceremony space featuring a Quetzalcóatl-inspired wood-fired oven, designed for gathering, cooking, or holding meaningful celebrations.
What truly sets the home apart is its flexibility: it is two conjoined units, allowing families or groups to stay together under one roof while still enjoying privacy with separate entrances, kitchens, and living areas. One unit includes accessibility features (ramp access, Hoyer lift, wheelchair-friendly shower), making it inclusive for all travelers, a rarity in Costa Rica.
Staying here means more than just a house; it’s an opportunity to live within La Ecovilla, an established international eco-community with shared spaces like a pool, yoga shala, sports courts, and the magical swimmable Machuca River. It’s ideal for worldschoolers, families, or groups seeking connection with both nature and people from around the globe.
The community features a wide variety of free and paid events such as yoga, acro, workout classes, potlucks and gatherings.
