Inspired by a family trip to Montana, The Ranch at Happy Valley blends refined Western elegance with modern comfort. Nestled on 6 private acres in historic Boalsburg, enjoy walkable dining, world-class fly fishing, skiing, and a 6-mile drive to Penn State & Beaver Stadium. Thoughtfully curated furnishings and serene surroundings create a truly elevated escape.
Guests will have full access to the entire house, including all living areas, bedrooms, and outdoor spaces. Please note that the garages are not accessible during your stay.
Guests will enjoy full privacy on the property. While you’re just minutes from town, you’ll still get that authentic countryside, mountain feel—occasional visits from deer and wild turkeys included. The home is equipped with high-speed Wi-Fi, and modern comforts.
The road leading up to the ranch and the driveway are gravel and are plowed in winter. However, during snowy months, we strongly recommend a 4-wheel drive vehicle for optimal access.

What an amazing weekend! The house was about 10 min. from campus yet feels like you are off the beaten path- nice and secluded. Location- great! Amenities- great! The host- great! We were a party of 6 adults and will definitely be back!

Thank you so much for the kind words, We welcome you anytime.
Such a beautiful home! We had a wonderful weekend stay while in town for a PSU game. The house is laid out very nicely to allow for socializing as well as ample space when trying to unwind for bed. The furniture and decor looks authentic and you truly feel like you are out west at a ranch! We cannot wait to visit again when we have more time to enjoy the adorable little town of Boalsburg. Our hosts were super friendly and responsive and made us feel so welcome. Highly recommend booking this home when you visit State College.

Thanks so much for the kind words! Come on back. :)
We recently stayed at “The Ranch At Happy Valley” to attend the outdoor Penn State hockey game. Matt was amazing from the time of booking all the way throughout our stay. Very communicative and quick responses to messages. The house was very clean, inviting and cozy. Upon arrival we found a wealth of information of things to do in the area as well as a “special” welcoming gift to help keep us warm during our stay. After being hit with a big snowstorm prior to our arrival, Matt made sure the driveway was plowed and sidewalks shoveled. We have stayed in other places but none as nice as The Ranch! We will definitely use this place again on future trips to State College! Thank you so much Matt for your amazing experience!

Thank you so much for choosing to stay with us! Welcome to the Ranch family!
Our son has been attending Penn State for the last four years. We have stayed in many rental properties during college visits, game day and this time for his graduation. This property is an absolute gem. Probably the nicest property that we have stayed in Penn State. The location is fabulous. Just a short drive away from town. Close to every amenity. Recently renovated the interior of the property is breathtaking. Exposed wooden structure with Italian Leather couches. Every amenity is provided and best of all our host was incredible. Very communicative and helpful. Amazing.

Thank you so much, Jonathan! Really appreciate you and your family. Come on back!
Our stay at the Ranch was wonderful. Matt was very communicative and responsive. We were able to check in easily and on time. The kids liked sleeping in the bunk beds and the queen and king beds were very comfortable. The first-floor bedroom is in its own suite with a pull-out couch and bathroom, which was really nice. Everything looked to be carefully and thoughtfully renovated and curated including the new kitchen (with personalized glassware/mugs), leather and cowhide furniture, and new wooden stairs and railings. I was expecting to see at least some spiders or insects in the house, seeing as this is a log cabin in the woods. We didn’t see any at all - the place was impressively clean. My one recommendation is that if you have a car that sits a little lower, to take the gravel road very slowly — especially at the bottom. I can’t wait to book the Ranch again, we had an enjoyable stay!

Thank you so much for the kind words, Elizabeth! We welcome you anytime.
It is very evident the owners take a lot of pride in this house and the rental experience. The accommodations were clean, neat organized with everything we needed. We were in town for a sporting event and our whole family loved it. The house is tucked away and very private, while still being walking distance to restaurants and the town. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a great place close to state college. 10/10 will most likely be back!!
