Beautiful

This place is magic! The property is absolutely stunning and you CAN NOT BEAT THE VIEW! Great location, close to town but feels very secluded. Do not hesitate on booking this. Plenty of space to spread out so you don’t feel on top of each other and the kitchen is amazing! The only thing was very small parking (2 small cars in garage), but we knew that before booking so it was not an issue for us at all. Loved this stay!

Huge house and deck with a spectacular view

Maria was a fantastic host in helping me coordinate a family get away that impressed everyone who was able to see the spot. The guests were thrilled at the character of the house and view is to die for. Plenty of deck space (but we only had one dry day :/ ) Kitchen is huge and great for homemade meals when hosting. Lots of utensils but if you need anything specific, just bring it with you (tough to get familiar and sometime items were a little dirty) Bring dishwashing pods and paper towels or be sure to check what they have stored when you arrive to make your check out / clean up process quick. Review the whiteboard in the kitchen on arrival for helpful tips and FAQs. Garage is tight for 2 RAV4s so if you are hosting guests for a dinner they will have to park off of Chuckanut which is just off the street (~3cars). Overall was a beautiful stay even in rainy weather. Overlooking teddy bear cove and Lummi Island is chefs kiss

Perfect place to get away and relax! Loved my stay and the view was spectacular.

I was a little worried when I first arrived the home is located right off of Chuckanut Drive, but one you pull in the drive way and go down the stairs it feels like you leave the world behind. The home feels huge and the kitchen has everything you could need and much more!, but we ended up eating down the road at the Oyster Creek Inn which was 5 star! The master bedroom is also quite large with a shower that peeks out to the waterfall it was very cool. The home was very clean and well furnished, although you can tell that the owner is working on finishing details on the home, it was very comfortable. We were a couple, but I could see having a whole family or group of friends over it is ideal for a large group as well. We went for walks everyday the interurban trail entrance is just a bit up the road as well as the public beach, all within a 10 minute walk. The rental manager Stephanie was very helpful and helped us with all of our questions. We would come back again! It is one of the nicest places we have stayed on VRBO. Oh, I almost forgot, the train did wake me up the first night, but I slept through it the second night. Bed was very comfy.

Great location for cooking

Loved the kitchen-the house was interesting-great view of the sound however it rained a lot and the house had leaks—we found it hard to get hold of the owner/also in the kitchen it’s hard to find things—nothing was in the place marked—we searched and found what we needed

Blissful retreat on Chuckanut Bay

a breathtaking experience with friends and family, this property is dreamy and amazing. The waterfall coaxed us to sleep in on rainy mornings, and nearby teddy ear cove was a quick and enriching hike down to the water. Check in was tough, wasn’t able to contact our host despite calling, the caretaker was able to help us get in after some effort. Also we tried all of the keys in the home but none of them worked for the front door, which wasn’t ideal. Parking is max 3 smaller cars, this did create some logistical headaches, but nothing we couldn’t work out. Other than these small details, we had an enchanting and highly recommended stay.

Beautiful view, but house/yard not well maintained

The view is unmatched; this area is gorgeous. But there were many things that were neglected in the house that were slightly irritating (and some just plain hazardous), especially considering the cost per night. There was a broken floor vent that easily slid off and away, exposing a significant hole in the floor right in front of the refrigerator in the kitchen - it's just waiting to break an ankle. We actually put a large box over the hole all weekend (in the middle of the kitchen) in an effort to prevent injury. The walkways into/around the house have not been maintained and are very slick with grime (be careful when walking into the house). The yard is really more of a swamp on a slope, which is not unexpected through a PNW winter, but we paid an extra fee for our dog to come with (who I made clear had just gone through knee surgery, and would be sedated and mostly immobile) & we had to walk a flight of stairs and go through the garage to get to Chuckanut Drive (which is narrow, with almost nowhere to walk) in order for the poor guy to use the restroom. I would not recommend staying here at all if you plan to take pets with you as there's really nowhere for them to go without a big production. The television doesn't work. There's only one bathroom on the main floor and it seemed to be struggling; it just ran the entire time we were there. I understand and like the idea of a rustic cabin but there are some things (tending to holes in the floor of the most trafficked area of the house, dangerous walkways) that should be tended to. The view was gorgeous but overall we were somewhat disappointed considering the price and relative lack of upkeep.

A wonderful house with a stunning view of Chuckanut Bay and the San Juan Islands beyond.

The house is an excellent place for a family gathering in a spectacular setting. It is especially suitable for a family that likes to cook and have meals together as the kitchen is large and well set up. There is also an excellent restaurant nearby--the Oyster Bar--perhaps the best in the area. If you like oysters, a visit to the Taylor oyster farm nearby is also special. For hikers the nearby Chuckanut trails have great views out over the islands. Parking along Chuckanut Drive is a challenge if you have more than the two cars that will fit in the garage, but that is a minor drawback as once inside the house the feeling is of arrival in a private sanctuary.

3 Day Weekend

The location of the property is awesome and the view impressive. The owner was kind enough to let us stay for a 3 day weekend on short notice. We were looking for a get away from the central Washington heat during the later part of the summer and to celebrate my daughters 18th birthday. It was about 11 pm when we arrived and we had a bit of a challenge trying to locate the key for the garage. When you pull up, there is a gate to stairs; however, the garage and parking is down the narrow private road. The garage is the first on the right and is a short walk through a beautiful garden to the house. Parking is very limited and tight with room for only two vehicles. My two younger boys absolutely loved the grounds. Entering the house the layout is great for large groups as there are many different areas to the house and two levels. The TV & game room is isolated with a large sun room separating it from the main living space in the house. Most of the bedrooms are down below on the lower level. We did have to vacuum up a few large spiders prior to settling in, but not a big deal. The bed in the master room was very comfortable and the view was awesome to wake up to in the morning. The lower level beds could use a mattress upgrade. Considering how close the property is to the water, there are RR Tracks running between the property and the water down below, and the trains do rumble by in the evening. Not a issue for me, because I love trains and have lived near them in the past. The views from the deck and from just about every room on the property are amazing. It would've been nice to have a propane fire pit to sit around in the evenings. We sat outside late into the evening 2 of the 3 nights. The only draw back was from the constant hum of the septic tank motor directly under the largest part of the deck. Unfortunately it does detract from the overall peacefulness. Overall, the place was great and I would consider using the property again for a larger group. The cost is a bit high, but we had a great time and loved sitting out on the deck taking in the view of the sound and the evening stars. Thank you for allowing us to enjoy your home.

The view was spectacular. We enjoyed our stay at Klipsun!

The house was great for our family of six adults and four children. Sometimes it was difficult to negotiate the parking with three cars. We saw deer daily. It was fun to see the train come around the bend. The noise was not a problem. Maria, Eric and Genevieve were great to work with.

wonderful place for a women's retreat

We enjoyed our stay at Klipsun. The house is unique and was an setting amazing for a women's retreat weekend - close enough to Fairhaven for yoga, meals and shopping and far enough out for peace and quiet. The kitchen is great for meals at the house and we loved convenience of the gas grill. We had the most beautiful weather and thoroughly enjoyed the views and being outside on the deck. We walked or ran on the interurban trail in the mornings or went down to the beach at Teddy Bear Cove. The photos and description was accurate. The owners were very helpful before, during and after.

Family Accommodation for Wedding

This home offered the perfect accommodation for our family members for our son's wedding at a local garden venue. It was central to all the wedding activities, as well as provided us with the ultimate down time in a stunning setting of the great natural northwest. The amazing sunsets were enjoyed by all members as we sat on the beautiful decks facing the ocean. All of the bedrooms faced the ocean view and we were awakened by the beautiful sunrises each morning. The house easily accomodated our ten family members, both for sleeping, visiting with each other, and at the dining room table. Our Executive Chef brother-in-law, made full use of the chef inspired kitchen and created sumptious feasts for all. The house surpassed all our expectations and enhanced the whole wedding experience. We couldn't have had a more wonderful time as we created new family memories. It was a magical time in a magical home!

Beautiful but not perfect

The listing was accurate. Beautiful view, very nice inside. However, several light bulbs out and shower vent fan not working. When the wind was not blowing there was a sewer odor outside. Unpleasant. Not mentioned in the listing: a train track runs between the property and the water, with trains running day and night. Owner was very slow in replying to calls and emails. Very frustrating.

Amazing property

The photos of this home are stunning and they don't even do it justice. It is simply amazing and truly an oasis. We stayed here with colleagues for a business retreat and it was perfect. It has a huge kitchen to cook in and plenty of space, indoor and outdoor, to be together, or to get-away. The decks and the outside view of the sound are breathtaking. We had bald eagles flying overhead, and watched the seals and other wildlife in the bay. The home is also very close to the sweet little town of Fairhaven, and shops, restaurants, activities (sailing) and a grocery store. We couldn't have asked for more and were truly in love with this home! Thanks for having us!

Graduation weekend

This was a perfect location for my family to go and celebrate my youngest sons graduation. The view from the double deck was fantastic. We spent most of our waking hours at the home in the deck watching the birds, boats, and seals. The house was very roomy for the seven of us as well as for the other two families that came for the graduation gathering. This is truly a unique home and location.

An Oasis.

From the time we left the garage and entered the walkway - bridge to this property, I felt that we entered a secret oasis. The sound of the waterfall and tropical-like foliage is stunning. Then, entering the house, with that view...well, it's just incredible. We, four of us, used the house as an end point for a Pacific Northwest road-trip. The house is as advertised, and then some. The location is convenient to all manner of outdoor activity as well as shopping in Bellingham, but, at the same time, the house has a remote and secluded feel. Perfect ending to an incredible trip.

Perfect Wedding Weekend Location

My family and I stayed here the weekend of my wedding!! It was BEAUTIFUL despite the rain. The house is spacious and was very inviting!! It felt like a home away from home during the best weekend of my life! Location is nice and close to Fairhaven and it's easy to get to the Chuckanut trail for a walk/run/hike right from the house! Thanks again!

wonderful home

Just a quick note about this wonderful home. If you want to stay on the water, in a home with plenty of space for a family or for 4 couples, go ahead and book this wonderful home. We were here for the week of my daughter's wedding and had maybe the best time of our lives. The home is comfortable and welcoming. My family & friends from Missouri and Kansas who stopped by were all blown away by the views, by the grounds, by the kitchen, by the comfort of this place. The lack of parking is not a problem because people can just park down the road at a trailhead and it's all so beautiful no one cares. We really loved our stay here and hope to come back some day. Thank you Maria and Eric.

We fell in love with this property when we first saw it. We find that it is a very special place, magical and we always relax well there. We live full time in Seattle. We are hoping to retire on Chuckanut, but in the mean time we thought it would be a wonderful place for people to go and relax and enjoy the beauty of the Northwest.

Why they chose this property

Bellingham is a wonderful small town that is just big enough to have whatever you need: endless recreational opportunities including hiking, biking, and skiing. There are several first class restaurants nearby including the famous Oyster Bar just down the road on Chuckanut Drive. There is the classic Fairhaven neighborhood with great shops, pubs and eateries. There is the beautiful Mt. Baker theatre, Western Washington University, Hospital, University, Mt. Baker Theater, and of course, Chuckanut Drive, one of the most beautiful drives the State if not the world. Come enjoy our little slice of Heaven.

What makes this property unique

We encourage you to read the reviews from our previous guests. You will see that we are not exaggerating.
