APARTMENT DETAILS:

BUILDING/SPACE:
The building is a traditional walk-up tenement; so guests should be prepared to climb up two flights of steps with their luggage. The flat is perfect for two people, but it can accommodate three or four guests. More than 90% of my guests are families of three or four persons.

KITCHEN
If you intend to cook, you will be pleased because the kitchen is completely equipped. There is a gas stove with restaurant burners, a microwave, a refrigerator/freezer, and several smaller gadgets such as a coffee press, blenders (plural), and toasters. You are invited to any spices or other food things in the cabinets that you may require; simply let me know what has to be replenished the morning of check-out.

LIVING ROOM:
The apartment features a kitchen/living room as well as two wide windows that let in plenty of natural light. There is a split-unit window air conditioner that is among the quietest on the market.

There is a comfortable sofa with a chaise lounge where you can relax while sipping your morning coffee or just relax at the end of a busy day. If you forget your converter, do not worry; the lamps in the living room feature built-in USB connectors for charging your electronics.

BEDROOM:
The bedroom has been placed away from the street, so it is usually fairly quiet. It features a barnyard-style door for privacy. The queen bed is raised, allowing for luggage storage underneath.

The bedroom additionally includes a Midea split-unit window air conditioner (which is incredibly quiet) and a wall heating unit. You will have the complete dresser and half of the closet to store your personal belongings.

BATHROOM:
The bathroom, while not brand new, is in excellent condition and clean. You do not need to bring a hairdryer, shampoo, conditioner, or body wash because I will provide them for you. The majority of guests fly to New York City, and I am very aware luggage capacity is limited.

EXTRA BED:
The extra bed is a double-high Queen air mattress with an integrated pump. The listing includes a picture of the air mattress setup in the living room. The sofa is not a sleeper, and it should not be utilized as an extra bed.

LAUNDRY:
Unfortunately, there are no laundry facilities in the apartment or building. But did you really travel to NYC to do laundry?! If you need to wash some laundry, use one of these local methods: Wash it in the sink, in a laundromat, or pay someone to do it for you (my personal choice)!

I can recommend local laundromats and wash-and-fold services for you. The one I use offers same-day service with free pick-up and drop-off.

ACCESS:
Guests will have access to the entire apartment except for the closets containing my personal belongings. They are not locked, but I ask that you respect my privacy by not opening them.

INTERACTION WITH GUESTS:
When feasible, I try to meet and greet each of my guests. If our schedules do not enable us to meet, alternative arrangements can be made. I am always available via phone or text, and I will check in by text every now and then to ensure that everything is going well. Of course, because I live in the same building, I am always ready to answer any inquiries or address any issues.

OTHER DETAIL:
1. The building is generally quiet. I ask my guests to respect my neighbors and remain quiet in the hallway, especially at night, because the sound echoes in the hall and stairway.
2. This is a non-smoking apartment, and no illegal drugs are allowed; there are no exceptions. Violation of this rule will come with immediate evictions without refund.
3. There are two flights of stairs leading to my apartment. There is no elevator on the premises.
4. The sofa is not a sleeper, and it should not be utilized as one.
5. There is a fireplace in the apartment, but guests are not permitted to use it.

NO COMMERCIAL FILMING WITHOUT PRIOR WRITTEN PERMISSION.

Host profile image
I am a native New Yorker who loves her hometown & willing to share any tips or ideas for experiencing my hometown. Want to shop? I will send you to the area best suited to your needs. Museums? I will tell you which are actually free. Love hip hop? Then I got the tour for you.

My style of hosting is friendly but pretty much going to let you do your own thing unless you tell me I am needed.

Why they chose this property

Neighborhood highlights
The East Village and Lower East Side neighborhoods never fails to keep the excitement going long after other neighborhoods hit the pillow. Join the foodies, dive bar enthusiasts, and vintage-hunters to the east end of Manhattan, where head-turning street style is the norm. Are you considered too avant-garde at home? In the East Village you will fit right in and be celebrated.

THE NEIGHBORS
An eclectic mix of NYC newcomers and long-time residents, this is an racially and economically mixed area. The african-american wall street guy shares his morning coffee with a puertorican feminist pop artist at the hip coffee house that is owned by a jewish lesbian couple, while the middle-age irish lady watches.

WHAT TO EXPECT
A lively neighborhood with an adventurous spirit that defines downtown living. Bargain shopping is still possible here with our many vintage and consignment stores. There is also a plethora of innovative designers with shops in the area. Young chefs are providing innovative foodie experiences and the cocktail is an art form next to traditional old school ethnic food and dive bars with attitude. Small quiet community parks still abound.

THE LIFESTYLE
Quiet during the day and busy at night due to the popular culinary and bar scene. Want to people watch, just pick your cafe or coffee spot.

WHAT NOT TO EXPECT
A quiet, residential area free of street traffic or noise from nightlife outside their doorstep. No big box stores or chain restaurants. Instead this is a small business shopping haven unlike most of Manhattan neighborhoods which can be filled with Gaps and Old Navy.

YOU'LL FALL IN LOVE WITH
The creative, gritty, and independent energy of one of the most iconic neighborhoods in Manhattan that nurtures literature, art and music innovators. Small business owners eager to please and the "You do You" spirit from the residents.

What makes this property unique

What makes my listing unigue is me, your host. This was home for over 25 years and I live in the building, available if needed. I love my home town and neighborhood, I want my guests to fall in love with it too. So I am always happy to give suggestions on what to see and advice o how to maximize your visit.

My love of NYC and the East VIllage is what makes staying in my listing special.
