About this property

Nature's Answer to Social Distancing

This is Social Distancing at its finest! Leave the stress of today's world behind and relax in the seclusion of Nature's beauty at Lake Burton. Come fall in love with our charming lakeside cottage located on Lake Burton’s beautiful Moccasin Cove. The home offers a peaceful, cool retreat from the heat in the summer, and in the fall the surrounding mountains will blush with vibrant autumn hues of red, yellow, orange and green. This recently renovated home right at the water's edge features a two story, three bedroom plus loft, two bath floor plan with incredible views of the lake and mountains.

Enter into the great room with fully equipped kitchen, and dining area for eight. The cozy den with stacked stone fireplace is the perfect spot to curl up with a good book during the cooler seasons. The main level master bedroom features one California KIng-sized bed with ensuite full bath, and a fun sleeping loft for the kids. Downstairs, find two bedrooms one with queen bed, and one with three twin beds + trundle, sharing a full bath.

White washed wood walls and hardwood floors create a warm feel in our cozy cottage. Amenities include: Central A/C and heat, ceiling fans, satellite TV, wireless internet, DVD and Bluetooth Surround Sound System, dishwasher, microwave, washer, dryer and gas grill.

Enjoy a cup of coffee on the upper deck or lower deck and witness the morning beauty as fog hangs over still lake waters and the early sun kisses the mountains. Early morning is also the perfect time to ski for the more adventurous! Enjoy a private swim dock and boathouse enticingly only steps away. Bring your own boat or rent one from nearby LaPrade's Marina. Enjoy using our kayaks if you prefer the more quiet paddle.

And, if you want to seek adventures away from the lake, there are plenty of opportunities in Rabun County! Hike a portion of the Appalachian trail only a few miles away or for a more leisurely stroll, hike up to Hemlock Falls just down the street. Explore one of three beautiful state parks located in Rabun including: Moccasin Creek, Black Rock and Tallulah Gorge! Escape into the wild and scenic Chattooga River basin and enjoy white-water rafting or kayaking. Stop through Downtown Clayton, GA and enjoy some wonderful boutiques and shops including: Cage Free, Reeves Hardware and Main Street Gallery. Once you've worked up an appetite, be sure to visit Fortify Kitchen & Bar or the Universal Joint located on Clayton's main street. If you want to dine closer in to your home away from home, check out By Hand Pizza by Chef Tyler Williams or LaPrade's Chophouse.
Then, as twilight falls upon the Blue Ridge, be dazzled by the night sky. Fall asleep to the sounds of the mountains.

Once your adventures near and far draw to a close each day, sit out and enjoy amazing sunsets, skies blanketed with stars and swim in the light of the full moon's glow. Welcome to paradise! You may never want to leave!!

We are an intown Atlanta family with 3 active kids- age 9, 11 & 13. We see Lake Burton as a wonderfully safe and cool retreat from hectic Atlanta life, especially as the kids grow older. They loved their first bit of summer at the lake and got to enjoy tubing rides, kayaks, hiking at the nearby waterfall and just playing together outside. Today we love our getaway from the stress and crowds of the big city.

Why they chose this property

We have loved the unspoiled beauty of Lake Burton since we first visited in 1999. We always dreamed of having a getaway there and finally found a cozy home with incredible sweeping views of the lake and mountains that surround us. We were blown away by the spacious airy feel of the home, the casual beauty of it all. We wanted a home that could accommodate us, our kids, and another family with kids. The bedroom space and dining areas allow for us to invite special friends and family to enjoy making memories together.

What makes this property unique

This home is right on the water, with 180 degree plus views of the lake, Lake Burton is unique in that it is kept at "full pool" year round with the exception of 2-3 months during the winter to allow for maintenance. We were disappointed that other lakes in the area were drained during the peak summer months, especially during drought years. This never happens at Burton.

The home itself is great because with its lofty feel, the house feels very open and spacious without being too big. The downstairs bonus living area lets the kids play freely while the grownups read and chat upstairs. There are plenty of spaces indoors and out to relax and enjoy the beauty and peace of :Lake Burton.
