Going crazy in the City? Get the heck out and into the country away from the craziness and into tranquil fun!
Mid-Century motif blends with incredible views, country quiet and relaxed luxury. I was told that this place has the most amazing view in the Capitol Region with gigantic deck, pool, two person jacuzzi tub. Minutes from Albany.
The house is powered by a 12 kilowatt solar array, out of sight in the lower meadow where you are welcome to take a look.
Note that pool is not heated before Memorial Day or after Oct 1, and is not open at all before May 15 or after Oct 15.
Note also that I do live on the property and, while I will endeavor to give you as much privacy as you would like, you will likely see me on a daily basis, maintaining the pool, deck and other common spaces. If you are looking for a completely private getaway, you should consider another property.
Thank you, Aaron

The accommodations were exactly what we needed! The property and views were spectacular. The house was spacious and comfortable, especially the huge bedroom suite and bathroom. The pool was beautiful and well-maintained. The host was extremely responsive and accommodating to anything we needed. Was a great, peaceful and relaxing vacation for us!!
We had a wonderful stay in Aaron's home! He was very attentive to make us comfortable and went out of his way to ensure that we had an enjoyable vacation. He was especially good with our kids and they really liked him! His pool is amazing, the views are breathtaking! It truly is an oasis, we would love to come back!

Victor and his wonderful family were a joy to host and I hope they return. What great kids!
My partner and I spent a short week away here. The house was unique, property was beautiful and quiet. It was the perfect place for a getaway, we were able to work remotely and enjoy the luxury of the pool, mountain view, etc. Aaron was an amazing host, he treated us to our favorite bagels, fruits and juice, even got us flowers. While the host is on the property we still had privacy and were given space so it was no issue at all. Would definitely come again.
The place is unique and serene. We came in winter which is not the best season, but you can still appreciate its natural beauty. The property is somewhat old, and definitely showed its age, but it's uniquely designed and well equiped. The host Aaron made us feel at home with lots of thoughtfulness. We thoroughly enjoyed our shory stay on our short vacation. Thanks Aaron!
A must-do, easy hike with stairs is the Thacher Nature Center's Indian Ladder Trail, which starts from the center. Ask about taking the upper trail back to the center. It overlooks Indian Ladder, and there are restrooms and picnic tables nearby. Don't miss the Indian Ladder Farms, which has outdoor music, beer tastings, and a cute shop.
Check out Secret Caverns (about 40 minutes away) for a great tour (lots of stairs down). Cooperstown is a great day trip (1.5 hours away). There's the baseball museum, the art museum (which is well worth it), and a farm museum across the road from it.
We had the best time!! It was exactly what we wanted: time to relax and hang out, very peaceful and so much fun. My 5 y/o daughter probably spent more time in the pool than on land the whole week we stayed at the house. The view is just stunning with the mountains in the background and we say beautiful fireflies at night! Aaron was so great, detail oriented (beautiful flowers in the kitchen on our arrival, the most delicious bagels and fruits in the fridge!) and has the sweetest pups. He had the perfect floaty (Princess Celestia!) blown up and waiting for our daughter to play with when we got there. The home itself is spacious and cozy at the same time. Perfect for our family but definitely space for more people as well. We would definitely come back!

Thank you for the kind words! I hope you do come back!
The house is exactly as described! Very nice place with beautiful views. Aaron was very accommodating if we needed anything! We would highly recommend!
We had a great stay at Westview. Aaron and his two dogs, Seamus and Rosie were great hosts! We were there on a ‘working vacation’ but we all enjoyed everything this house and property has to offer - the pool is perfect temp, large and clean (Aaron tended to the pool every morning!), the seclusion and the view were amazing, the house was cozy and there are so many comfortable places to be with your family or have some individual downtime. Great location - nearby to John Thatcher State park, amenities (supermarket, liquor store, takeout, farmers market), 20 min to Albany or other shopping (if needed). Overall, great getaway for our family and hope to come back soon!

Phoebe, Charles and their two young boys were absolutely the BEST guests and we were really sorry to see them go. Hopefully it will only be until we see them again next year!
This was an absolutely beautiful stay. We enjoyed it immensely. Really recommend the hammock area. Nice views, beautiful kitchen and unique aesthetic. The sleeping situation is as pictured- best for families- though not great for anyone with back problems. Aaron was very nice and made himself available to us as needed- although we had originally been looking for an air bnb with total privacy as it was for our anniversary- and it was not as private as we expected. This is a great retreat and perfect for someone looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. Thanks Aaron!

Thank you for the kind words, and congratulations on your anniversary. I’m sorry that it was not as private as you hoped for but we did communicate extensively on that topic ahead of time, so it should not have been a surprise. Necessary daily maintenance around the deck and pool makes some contact unavoidable.
For others reading this review, if what you are looking for is total privacy, since I do live onsite and do have to maintain the common area on a daily basis, you should choose another property.
We had a very good stay with Aaron. He's very friendly and helpful and has two cute little dogs our son liked to play with. The house has gorgeous views and inside an enormous amount of space. We could easily unwind and relax and loved the outdoor deck and swimming pool. Overall we would recommend to anyone. One remark if you are booking the house. The whole place is a combination of Aaron's house (left from entrance) and guest house (right from entrance). This means you will also see and encounter Aaron once or twice a day. For us no problem at all but if you are really looking for something private and idyllic than you might want to reconsider.

Thank you for the kind words and clarification. I try to give guests as much or as little privacy as they desire, subject to the limitation that I do live on the premises and need to water plants and maintain the pool. You probably saw more of me than guests in previous years as a result of my working from home during the pandemic.
Needing to get away from in all I recently stayed here for a week. I will definitely be back.
Aaron went out of his way to accommodate my stay and was only a text away. The home is unique, cozy and well maintained. The deck and its views are amazing. The pool is clean and well maintained, pool towels were provided.
Room by room. The kitchen is well stocked and has plenty of workspace to prepare meals. The living has an abundance of places to laze around with a good book.. The bedroom/den pod was open and very spacious. The beds and linens made for very comfortable sleep. Lots of closet space and a nice desk to work at. The den portion has a very comfortable sectional and nice big tv. Just outside is the pool with plenty of deck chairs and such. The bathroom pod is unbelievable. The sunken jacuzzi is a treasure.
I was looking for a place to just relax and decompress and this place was perfect. I love to read and the are plenty of quiet outdoor and indoor places to snuggle up with a good book.
The location is perfect very convenient to shopping, movie theatres and grocery stores.
Thank you Aaron for a great stay.
Wonderful spaces, views and quiet location. So great to find a gem like this one. Great stay, clean, amenities galore, excellent communication with owner. Cool spot that many folks should be able to enjoy. Close to lots in the Capital District. Had a relaxing stay.

Beautiful property
The view is amazing and the pool was such a treat! Aaron had purchased some fruit and OJ before we got there, which was really appreciated. And he was very accommodating as a host. The porch, pool, and view are as advertised and the place was very clean and well kept. We bumped into Aaron a few times, but he is a nice guy and it wasn't an issue at all. We spent a full day by the pool and it felt very private.

The house was wonderful but the "Crown Jewel" of this location is the view!
We enjoyed our stay. Aaron and Rosie (his little dog) were great hosts. As I mentioned previously, the views from this house are incredible. The only "negative" is that the pool was listed as Private, when in fact you share the pool with the owner. We didn't use the pool a couple of times as it was being used. The house is unique in its setup. The pictures of the house/property/amenities/view are "spot on". We will book again. Hopefully next fall!

I appreciate the kind comments. The listing explicitly states (and has always stated) that the pool is shared with the owner. I am sorry if my use was inconvenient for you.
