About this property
Luxury Maine Living on Peaks Island at Water's Edge
Water's Edge is a stunning newly built, 3 bedroom/3 bath modern home on Peaks Island Maine. Peaks is the closest island to the city of Portland, the most populated, and serviced regularly by ferry.

Peaks Island is located in Casco Bay, and reached by a 15 minute ferry from Portland, or water taxi. Peaks is home to about 1000 year round residents, rising to a bustling 4000 in the summer. A stay on Peaks Island can be one of relaxation, or the jumping off point to explore Casco Bay via kayaking, lobster boat tours, sunset schooner trips and restaurant/bar hopping in Portland.
Water's Edge is a 5- 7 minute walk from the ferry landing. There is an island taxi service which meets most ferries. The frequent car ferry, requires no reservations but often has lines, and is pricey. Check the Casco Bay Lines website for schedules and pricing. Once on the island, it is easy to get around by bikes or golf carts, both available to rent on the island.

The home is a 1 minute walk to Sandy Beach, a picturesque, protected small public beach.

OUTDOOR TOYS AND ADDITIONAL INFO
We live next door, so as your hosts we are often right there to answer questions, etc. We also have 2 kayaks and 4 stand up paddleboards available to borrow, plus life jackets. We often have badminton set up in our yard, and bocce ball which guests are welcome to use. Water's Edge has a hammock hanging outside the lower level . Depending on our schedules and weather, there may be an opportunity for a short jaunt aboard the Annie B III, our 23 foot power boat. Zipping around Casco Bay is one of summer's great joys !

Frequently asked questions
About the host
Hosted by Anne
We have lived in Maine for 40 years, and love its coastline, mountains and lakes. John is a retired medical professional, and Anne is a creative entrepreneur who has worked for non-profits and her own businesses over the years. Having traveled extensively, we have stayed in so many places with helpful hosts, and we hope to emulate their hospitality.
Why they chose this property
Peaks island is small enough to bike around in less than an hour, large enough to have 4 restaurants, and quaint enough to host Fourth of July parades with decorated pick up trucks and golf carts. In the evenings, one can watch the sunset overlooking Portland from the front of the island and if you are an early riser, you can watch the sunrise from the nearby backshore. The island is home to around 1000 year-round residents, and in the summer swells to almost 5000. The island is a stone's throw from the city of Portland, with its unique walkable Old Port shopping district and many award-winning restaurants.
What makes this property unique
Water's Edge is an architect designed modern home, finished in 2025, located right on the water above a rocky beach. Though a short walk to the ferry and bustling "Down Front" , the sits on Brackett Point, offering privacy and quiet. It appeals to the traveller wanting more modern accommodations, rather than a cozy cottage stay.
