About this property
Family Friendly Mountain View Bungalow w/ Hot Tub in beautiful Ashe County
Super family friendly, lots of toys, games, and opportunities to make memories!
Bluebird Bungalow is the perfect place to get away for rest, reflection, and recreation. It’s a cozy (three-bedroom, one-and-a-half bath) bungalow-style home nestled on a picturesque hillside in the mountains of Ashe County, North Carolina. Enjoy hiking in the trails off the Blueridge Parkway (just 20 min from the house) or one of the several other hiking trails and Parks in the area, fishing/kayaking/tubing in the New River (one of the world's oldest rivers), and restraunts & shopping in downtown West Jefferson or downtown Boone!
The House
Bluebird Bungalow is located in Fleetwood, Ashe County (10 Mins from the New River, 12 minutes from downtown West Jefferson, and 25 minutes from Boone). The house is accessible via a gravel road in a picturesque neighborhood away from the main roads. The views from the multilevel deck are stunning and the house is surrounded by beautiful trees and incredible plant life. You can even pick an apple off the apple tree during the fall or grab some wild blueberries or blackberries in the summer.
The house is full of charm and character. On the main level you’ll find a completely stocked kitchen, a full bathroom, the master suite, and an open concept dining room/living space (complete with a wood-burning stove). Upstairs, you’ll find 2 bedrooms with a half bath in between. The owners have put a lot of personal touches into the house, and you can feel it whether you are sitting at the hand-made dining table or rocking in the custom-crafted cedar rocking chairs on the deck.
The multilevel deck is accessible off the main level living space and is adjoined by a screened-in porch with comfy seating and binoculars for incredible views of the night sky (the kind of views you just can’t find in the city). On the lower level deck you’ll find a 6-person hot tub and seating area with string lights for ambiance.
The house sleeps 6 comfortably. The master bedroom and front bedroom upstairs have queen beds, and the kid’s room is equipped with 2 twins + a trundle bed. The kitchen is equipped with a full-sized refrigerator, microwave, toaster, coffee pot, range/oven, tea kettle, pots, baking and pizza pans, wine corkscrew, and much more. The master bathroom is equipped with a hair dryer, plenty of towels and wash cloths, and extra toiletries (just in case you forget your own).
The house is also stocked with tons board games and toys (duplo blocks, a doll house, and other creative toys) for indoor fun, or you can pack the whole family up and take them down the New River (just a short drive away) in the tubes (6) and kid-sized kayaks (2) that the owners have stored at the house for some outdoor fun.
There is an iron and an ironing board in the master closet and the hosts also keep toilet paper, paper towels, trash bags, tissues, laundry detergent, and other consumables on site but depending on the duration of your stay, you may need to replenish some of those items.
Other Important Info
Cell Phone Signal - Cell phone signal is sparse at the house. The house is equipped with high speed (500 mbps) internet and wifi so you can make calls that way but traditional cell service will be little (if any). A landline is available to receive calls and dial 911 in an emergency.
Guest Access - The back door is equipped with an electronic keypad and you will receive a unique access code before your arrival.
Heating and Air Conditioning - The house is equipped with a multi-zone mini split system for heat and air conditioning. This means each room can have its own temperature settings!
Security Cameras - There are two (clearly visible) exterior security cameras and a ring doorbell that the hosts use to keep an eye on the property.
TV - The living room is equipped with a smart TV so you can stream your favorite shows and movies.
Winter Weather - The house is at 3200’ elevation so there is a decent amount of snowfall during the winter months (particularly in January - early March). The owners will do everything they possibly can to make sure the house is accessible in the event of wintry weather, but please note that access can be impacted by severe winter storms.
