With a pool behind this building that you can see from the deck, this is a great unit for family with kids! Completely renovated. Immaculate condition. 2 bedrooms, 2 full big bathrooms. 1 queen, 1 queen, 2 twin bunk beds. Full kitchen: microwave, dishwasher, glass top stove, refrigerator, front-loading washer/dryer. Free high-speed WiFi. 40" HD TV, Blu-Ray player and Roku in Living Room. HD TV and Roku in main bedroom. Southwinds is a family friendly ocean front condominium complex with two swimming pools, grills, and additional laundry facilities on site. It is a short drive down the road or a short walk down the beach to get to Fort Macon State Park. No smoking and no pets! Southwinds does not allow trailers or boats to be parked here. Includes bedroom linens and bath towels. Family friendly and great for kids in the summer. In the Spring/Fall, great for romantic getaways and slow relaxing.

We enjoyed our stay at this property. Great location and it was comfortable for the three of us. Only complaint was that the mattress pads in the guest room were really dirty so we washed them. Otherwise, great place and great location!

Both myself and my sister were able to book with Michael, he has 2 units and it was perfect for us to have our own space and routine but be able to do all the things we wanted to do together. There was space for everything we needed. Plenty of beds! We were over looking the pool and just a quick walk through the parking lot to the beach access! This was the perfect location and had everything our kids love about beach vacations.

Communication, Communication, Communication. Clean, and Comfortable is our specialty. Please, please, please. Communicate with us. It's essential to do this up front. Tell us what you are looking for. It's in our House Rules #3. Maybe #4. Tell us about your vacation. Honesty is the bedrock of every relationship. Honesty. Fact: Southwinds is an ocean front complex as described in the headline. Very large beach front with two ramps over the dunes to the beach and on the quiet end of island. Check Google Maps and GIS maps. Do your due diligence, please. Fact: First floor units have a smaller ocean view compared to the second and third floors. I'm looking now. The deck overlooks one of the pools and green space with picnic tables and grills which is great for parents with kids. And less stairs. If big ocean views are THE most important, then please tell us. We would suggest our third floor unit or recommend you to another unit or complex on the beach. We don't want unhappy guests. Everyone has Personal Opinions and Expectations, so tell us up front what you are looking for and we will accommodate and adjust. We asked this guest 3 times to tell us about themself or their vacation. We got silence. That is everyone's opportunity to say what you are looking for and change your plans if necessary. Our most important house rule - Communicate, communicate, communicate. And we will accommodate best as possible. Peace be with you all and may your feet touch the salt water often :)

My daughter and I moved into this condo unit when she was 2 years old. We lived here for 7 years. I renovated the unit to make it comfortable to live in year-round or one week at a time! Everything is new, easy to use, and easy to clean. New AC/heat, new appliances, new washer/dryer. Wall was moved in master bedroom to allow a full-size bathroom that two people can use at the same time. Maybe the only such master bathroom in Southwinds. This also added closet space in the master bedroom. I chose Southwinds because it is a family oriented complex and kid friendly. My daughter has made many friends with kids coming down during the summer. She learned to swim in the pool by trying to keep up with the 'big' kids while shunning my advice. Usually there are some kids at the pool or beach to make friends with. However, it never gets too crowded or noisy that you can't relax and have a romantic getaway.

Why they chose this property

Southwinds is at the quiet end of Atlantic Beach near Fort Macon. From the Southwinds beach to the left is a 200-yard walk to the bath houses at Fort Macon State Park with a full concession. Freezer pops and ice cream used to be only 50 cents. Walk a mile further to Beaufort Inlet and Fort Macon - the actual Civil War brick fort that is full of cannons and reenactments. Friday night concerts are held in Fort Macon during the summer. During the day, bunny rabbits run across the front lawn. Sometimes large turtles crawl across the lawn. At night you may see foxes trot across the Southwinds parking lot, but they are shy and run away quickly. Bring a flashlight to the beach at sundown and look for ghost crabs along the edge of the surf. Sea turtles come to the area and lay their eggs during late Spring / early Summer nights and hatch during a full moon in the early Fall. Sea turtle nests are wired off and protected. Volunteers monitor the nests close to hatch time and the public can watch the turtles hatch if you are lucky enough to be there at the right time.

What makes this property unique

From Southwinds beach to the right is a two mile walk to the Oceana Pier, the Atlantic Beach circle and main public beach. Amos Mosquito's Restaurant is only half a mile down the road from Southwinds, with other restaurants just a little further down the road.
