About this property
Charming, updated 1930's beachfront cottage with stunning sunset views
Come relax on the Eastern Shore in our charmingly updated 3 bedroom cottage. Perfect for families, friends groups, or couples traveling together, each bedroom has an en suite bath. The master bedroom on the second floor features french doors which open onto a large balcony overlooking the cove, with a cedar bench for 2 that is perfect for enjoying your morning cup of coffee or tea. The en suite master bathroom features a claw foot tub lit by antique sconces and a separate tiled shower. The second bedroom which is on the main floor features its own en suite bathroom with a tiled shower, antique armoire, and guest laundry. This bathroom also cleverly functions as the home's powder room with entry through a hidden door/bookcase in the adjacent living room! The third bedroom, cozy under the eaves of the second floor has beautiful water views and features a daybed and a brass twin bed. The master and third bedrooms are separated by a lovely library nook with water views and features a large desk and a comfortable chaise lounge, making it the perfect quiet spot to catch up on work, do a puzzle (we have many to choose from!) or relax with a good book. This space also provides great privacy between the bedrooms. Downstairs there is a living room, den, and kitchen, all of which face the beautiful cove. One of our very favorite things about our home is that you are almost always looking at the beautiful bay. Seeing the sunlight on the water and the ever changing sky above it is truly breathtaking. The kitchen is well stocked for enjoying a traditional crab feast, whether you cook it all up yourself or bring it in (the crab cakes at Clark's Seafood cannot be beat). You'll find all of your basic spices (Old Bay!) and oils and plenty of pots and pans. Enjoy your indoor meals at our cozy built in nook in the kitchen, at the island bar, or at the dining table off the living room. If you prefer to eat outside, we also have the latest infrared electric barbecue grill on the deck just outside the back kitchen door so it's easy to move from the kitchen to grill to nearby picnic table. The den features a wall to wall built-in cabinet original to the cottage. Here you will find plenty of games and puzzles; fun things to do on a rainy day! There is also a flat screen smart TV here. Off the living room there is a large screened in porch facing the water that has two beautiful vintage wicker chaise lounges and a loveseat making it the perfect spot to watch the sunset and spot the herons and eagles that fish daily in the cove. There is also a gate-leg table on the porch that provides plenty of space to set out cocktails and snacks (don't miss the wonderful selection at Chester River Wine and Cheese Co. shop-they are always our first stop when we come home). When you are ready to explore out of doors we have 2 bikes and 2 kayaks for your use. The Old Coast Guard Station has a public beach and is just 2 miles away; it's a great place to take a picnic, catch some rays and watch the boats go by. Then come home to our quiet cove and nap in the hammock beneath the shady oak trees. Our cove is at the end of Still Pond Creek so it is a wonderful place to kayak. Launch the kayaks right from our private beach and enjoy exploring the many different coves along the creek as you head out to the Bay. Our beach is also a great spot for fishing. If you would like to bring your own jet ski or small boat we have plenty of parking at the cottage and there is a public boat launch just around the corner. At the end of the day it's fun to gather around the fire pit and recount the day's adventures or toast some s'mores!
David and I love spending time at our cottage on the shore and we hope you will feel as much joy as we do while you are here. We look forward to welcoming you to Cove Cottage!

About the host
Hosted by Diane Oliver

I’m a southern girl, raised in Atlanta, but I’ve spent most of my life on the move as a Navy wife. I’ve always loved seeing new places but I’ve also always longed for a little cottage somewhere peaceful where I could go and just be still. Cove Cottage is this dream come true. I now also enjoy time in Seattle, where my 4 grandchildren are, and Hawaii, where my husband’s family has deep roots.
Why they chose this property
I have been enchanted with this corner of Still Pond Creek ever since I first laid eyes on it. Although we have owned Cove Cottage for 9 years now I always feel as though all of my worries drop behind me when I cross the little bridge over the creek and see the expanse of the cove open out in front of me. Still Pond is removed from the usual hustle and bustle but still close enough to Chestertown, Rock Hall, Easton, and other Eastern Shore towns to easily enjoy their restaurants, marinas, and events.
What makes this property unique
I think our private west facing beachfront and having no neighbors on either side of us makes the cottage feel very peaceful. I also love that we were able to save many of the original 1930’s elements of the cottage even as we updated it to take advantage of the beautiful water views. When you stay at Cove Cottage it feels as though you are staying at a friend’s home.
