About the host

Hosted by Joelle Waterkotte

Host profile image
We’re Joelle and Peter—hosts who genuinely love creating beautiful, welcoming spaces for others to enjoy. Hosting is something we’re deeply passionate about, and we approach it with the same care and attention to detail that we value when we travel ourselves.

Outside of hosting, we love being active and connected to nature. You’ll often find us hiking, kayaking, or out for long walks with our two Wheaten Terriers. We also enjoy quieter moments—reading, watching movies, and spending time with our family, especially our two grandchildren, who bring so much joy to our lives.

Professionally, we’re both in real estate, which naturally extends into our love for thoughtfully designed homes and meaningful spaces. Every property we host is personally curated—from the furnishings and artwork to the overall feel—so that it offers more than just a place to stay. Our goal is to create an experience that feels comfortable, inspiring, and a little bit special.

We’re hands-on owners who care deeply about our guests’ experience. While we respect your privacy and aim to make your stay seamless and easy, we’re always nearby and happy to help if needed.

Whether you’re here to relax, explore, or simply enjoy a change of pace, we hope your time here feels like a true retreat—and one you’ll want to return to.

Why they chose this property

We chose Arrowhead Lake because it brings together everything we love in one place—especially our deep appreciation for nature.

From the moment you arrive, you feel it. The fresh mountain air, the peaceful lakes, and the surrounding forest create a setting that instantly helps you slow down and unwind. In the summer, the cool breeze through the trees is a welcome escape from the heat, and the natural beauty here is something we never take for granted.

We’re drawn to an active, outdoor lifestyle, and Arrowhead offers so many ways to enjoy it—hiking, kayaking, pickleball, biking through the community, or simply spending time by the water. It’s also a place that feels safe, welcoming, and family-friendly, which was incredibly important to us.

And beyond all of that, there’s a true sense of community here. Whether you’re taking a dip in the pools, enjoying the lakes, or just exploring the neighborhood, it feels like a place where people come to relax, connect, and recharge.

And yes… it really is all about the nature!

What makes this property unique

The Blissful Bear Lakeview Chalet offers a rare combination of space, views, and thoughtfully curated design that truly sets it apart within Arrowhead Lake.

Set on a spacious double lot, the home feels open, private, and surrounded by nature—rather than tucked tightly among neighboring properties. From the front deck, you’ll enjoy picturesque sunsets over the lake, a daily moment that never gets old and often becomes a highlight of our guests’ stay. A brand new Wellis Houston Hot Tub (up to 7 people) with chunky cedar gazebo with metal roof (available July 7th and after) .

Inside, the chalet is filled with natural light from large windows that bring the outdoors in, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere throughout. The kitchen is a standout feature—far more elevated than what you’d typically expect in a second home. It’s generously sized, beautifully finished, and designed for gathering, whether you’re preparing a quiet morning coffee or a full evening meal.

What truly makes the Blissful Bear special, though, is the attention to detail. Every space has been thoughtfully furnished and curated with comfort and character in mind—from exceptionally comfortable bedding and layered textiles to vintage woodland artwork and nature-inspired touches throughout. You’ll notice small, meaningful details everywhere, creating a cozy, elevated experience that feels both intentional and unique.

The location is equally ideal. You’re just a short walk to Beach 3, featuring a covered pavilion, playground, and lake access—perfect for relaxing or spending time with family. Just beyond that is the Island Pool, one of the community’s most loved amenities, giving you multiple experiences within minutes of the front door.

It’s the combination of views, space, design, and location—paired with thoughtful, personal touches throughout—that makes the Blissful Bear not just a place to stay, but a place to truly unwind and enjoy.
