Liked: Check-in, communication, location
Disliked: Cleanliness
Quirky, historical cabin in a picturesque setting with lots of wildlife. Appreciated the homey, grandfather-built atmosphere which is not updated beyond recognition.

Thank you sir much for staying with us! Glad you had a great time
We have been staying here for 5 years. We like the "camp" feel of the property, yet appreciate the amenities. The owner is very responsive and has made improvements over the years. Looking forward to our next stay, next summer!

So nice to have you return year after year! Thank you so much for staying with us!
We are returning guests and have a great time when we stay here. Communication with the owner was excellent. We love paddle boarding from the dock. Weeds seemed to be worse than other years in that section of the bay but there were weed cutters at work. Overall, we had a wonderful stay and look forward to returning again.
This cottage was great!! We loved every minute of our stay. It was so spacious! We enjoyed boating, swimming, fishing, and just sitting on the deck enjoying beautiful views. Pt

So glad you had a great time with your group! Come back and visit anytime! Thank you for staying with us!
We had everything we needed and appreciated the ability to keep our sailboat at the dock, launch kayaks from the property, proximity to Fairhaven, restaurants, state parks, and, of course, the bay and the lake. The owner was excellent at answering questions we had. We enjoyed the house and grounds, and plan to be back the next time we have a large group wanting to sail and be on the bay/lake.

So glad you had a nice visit. Would love to see the sailboat in person someday. Thanks so much for staying with us!
This place was perfect for our family vacation. The views of the bay are beautiful. We went swimming and fishing and had a blast. There was plenty of room for all ten who stayed. We will be back again. We made some special memories here. Thanks.

So glad you enjoyed your stay! You’re welcome back anytime!. Thanks for staying with us!
I believe I can speak for all of us who stayed. Well kept, plenty of space, everything worked well, very comfortable. The view from the deck was awesome!
We had a large group and this home meet all the needs to have a large group stay all in one place. The owner, Mark, is very nice and readily available to answer any questions or concerns. He was very nice to work with and very accommodating.
If you appreciate traditional cottages, you'll love this one!
Mark was a fantastic communicator from the start and throughout our stay. The cottage is a beautiful blend of updates and traditional styles that can comfortably sleep many. The large deck was perfect for eating meals together or just reading a book while overlooking the bay. Lastly, we have a jets ski so the dock was a huge perk for us. Highly recommend.

So glad you could be there for the fireworks and wall of fire. Thanks also for leaving the place spotless. We’d love to have you back!
We enjoyed our stay very much. The house was nice. The View was spectacular. He has everything that you would want if you are camping. My nephews had fun fishing on the dock and they caught lots of fish. It has a beautiful sunrise. Only one criticism, the beds in the basement smelled a little musty.
We had an amazing time in Fair Haven. We were there for my niece’s wedding at Collaca Estate winery just a mile down the road. We had a great cookout on Sunday night on the deck with my family and brother-in-law.
Evenings were great as we fished off the dock catching lots of bluegill and some good size bass. After dark we enjoyed campfires on the bay and family games later inside.
The bedrooms were great, plenty of hot water for showers. Overall a great place to stay and I would look to stay here again in the future if we head up that way again!

I’m so glad you had a great time there! You left the place in great shape. Thank you for staying with us
A terrific stay. Everything was as advertised and it exceeded my expectations as far as roominess and amenities. I was hoping to be able to dock my little boat and was glad to find a REAL durable, permanent dock with 2 sets of working electrical outlets on the dock posts. I caught a ton of largemouth bass and northern pike. Nice fire pit in the evenings. Rain or shine (and we got both) we were comfortable and spacious indoors as well as out. I would have no reservations about booking here again.

camp in fair haven
nice cottage on the water older has the feel of a cottage .Mark was easy to deal with an called to see if there was any problem . Good location to all events I Fair Haven. Quit not to close to many neighbors. Bed room situation a little bit different but your at camp an everybody is close nit. great deck and dock a little hard to put kayaks in mite have to get wet.
Wonderfully convenient. Great deck overlooking the bay. Great dock and Shore Anchor boat hoist. Waterside fire pit. Probably less than a mile to downtown Fair Haven. This was our second Labor Day weekend in a row at this rental and we wouldn't have booked it again if it didn't exceed all of our needs. I brought my small boat for the excellent largemouth bass and northern pike fishing all around the bay. It's a great port of safe harbor with super convenient access to the big water for those looking for trophy trout and salmon as well.

So glad everything worked out for you! Thanks for staying with us!
Great setting on the bay. Home was as described. Bedding (blankets and comforters) were not clean and didn’t have enough for each bed. Dishwasher filter was clogged, so had to wash everything by hand. Some dishes were dirty upon arrival. Overall home was comfortable and was a nice place to relax after a day of fishing.
We rented this house because it was 20 minutes away from the speedway! Great location. Owners of house are very friendly and very accommodating! We got there the first night and it was COLD... Took the house a little bit to heat up, being October, but once it did it was PERFECT! They usually don't have people stay in the fall so we understood completely. Right on the lake, so beautiful. Nice to wake up to geese, ducks and swans swimming right at the dock. Very clean and LOTS of places to sleep. 3 bathrooms were nice since we had 9-10 people. Made our stay very easy! Thank you and we will rent again!!!

About the host
Hosted by Mark Brockman
West Bay has been in our family for 4 generations. What started as a one room bayside retreat has grown over the years to combine the rustic charm of the original cottage with the modern amenities which make living here comfortable.
'Sant Cottage' as it was originally known has been the summer retreat for one of Fair Haven's founding families. Generations of the Sant family still live around Little Sodus Bay.
West Bay was built for Raymond S. Sant, one of the most influential figures in the development of Upstate New York. Ray Sant was a soldier and educator whose foresight converted rural New York's one room school system into the the centralized school system that exists today.
Ray Sant's interest in Fair Haven and Sterling lead him to chronicle its' development in several books tracing the history of families and businesses in the area.
West Bay is where he found his inspiration.
Why they chose this property
What makes West Bay special? It's the slower pace, the relaxed atmosphere and the abundant variety of activities.
