About this property

Múlakot 1 - Cosy countryside cabin with a sauna and amazing view´s

We just finished renovating our cabin here in West Iceland. The cabin is quite well planned, open and relaxing with stunning picturesque scenery, as one of a handful of cabins in a secluded area. The cabin is very cosy with a rustic touch, to make your experience as wonderful as possible. With two queen sized beds, a sofa bed in the living room and loft, we can accommodate 4-8 people, so perfect for families and small groups.

Bedrooms:
Two bedrooms with queen size beds (140*200cm). In the livingroom there is a comfy pullout couch 160*200cm and on the attic there is a cosy tv area with a sofa that can be converted into a bed. In total the cabin can accommodate 8 people but for a full comfort, we recommend it for 4-6 people.

Bathroom:
The bathroom has a sink, toilet a shower and a washing machine.
We provide a hairdryer, towels, WC paper, soap, and shampoo

Kitchen:
A full size kitchen with everything you need. An oven, stove. pots and pans and everything you need to prepare meals for up to 8 people. Also a BBQ is privided for our guests. A small refrigerator to store your groceries. Inside the fridge there is a small freezer box. For coffee, we have a french press and Nespresso coffee maker.

Dining area:
Open kitchen area with a dining table with 6 chairs.

Living area:
very cosy with a rustic touch, to make your experience as wonderful as possible. A comfortable couch that can be converted into a sofabed for 2 people. Wifi included.

Loft:
Cosy and comfortable TV area with a sofa that can be converted into a bed for 2 people. The TV has a HDMI cable and some movies on a TV drive.

We provide linen, towels and toilet paper.

We are about 15min drive from a small town called Borgarnes, which has most of the thing you might need when vacationing in Iceland. Grocery store, wine store, petrol station, restaurants, swimming pool, bank, hospital and more. All around us the beautiful nature ready for you to explore!

You will need a car to get to the cabin. In the late fall, summer time and early autumn, a small car will suffice, but your better off with a 4x4 rest of the year.

Easily one of the best rentals we've had through VRBO. Owner was in communication very early through the process, provided access information well in advance (which is great because there have been times I've had to call owners to get access when I'm sitting at the property), and the location provided easy access to the West and Southern areas of Iceland. Well it was just my wife and I, the place was more spacious than I expected, and two couples or a couple with children could easily stay here and be comfortable. The solitude was also brilliant, because it allowed for some excellent night time photography while there. Planning to go back next summer so my wife can see the puffins, and this will be the first place I check to see if they are available when we return.

My husband and I came to Iceland for our honeymoon. We stayed here at the cabin after our trip to the city. It was the exact relaxation that we needed. We were close to near by adventures, and when we didn't want to leave, we have the perfect views to look at. This was the best decision we made in Iceland! This and the secret lagoon!

We would have stayed for a lifetime. Communication could not have been better - truly professional. Follow their directions! House is in a great area for exploring of the Western part of the island. Quiet, peaceful, awesome views, and very comfortable. Would love to stay here in winter as well!

2 bedrooms very Nice. Lots of material for the kitchen. Quiet place and the owner Jon is very nice. The shower is pretty difficult To use and not comfortable. The curtain doesn't really close. The place wasn't that clean when we arrive especially in the kitchen. You have to drive 12kms in a not paved road To get there.

Charming cabin with great hosts

The cabin was charming and comfortable, and the property is surrounded by beautiful wild flowers. The sauna heats up quickly and is spacious. The private setting makes for a great sauna session. We really appreciated the extra towels for use in the sauna. Make sure to take some Nespresso pods with you to enjoy your morning coffee next to the gorgeous big windows. The kitchen is well stocked with supplies for cooking and eating. Despite being in a quiet and somewhat secluded place, there is a town nearby that has a grocery store with everything you’ll need to cook meals. The hosts were quick to respond to our questions and were very kind throughout our stay. Depending on when you travel, there may be sand flies in the region, but this is not something unique to the property. Bring along some replant and you should be okay.

Schönes kleines Häuschen in der Natur

Ein tolles, kleines Häuschen in der Natur. Die Kommunikation mit der Vernieterin war sehr gut und sehr nett. Wir waren zu dritt unterwegs und haben uns wohlgefühlt. Für vier Leute wäre mir das Haus insgesamt zu eng. Die Betten scheinen 1,20 m Breite zu haben. Der Wasserdruck in der Dusche ist sehr niedrig, was scheinbar bisher nicht anders möglich war, aber die Vermieterin arbeitet an einer Lösung.

Lovely and quaint cottage!

This property was wonderful, very clean and well decorated! The property manager kept us informed about weather and road conditions which was much appreciated. The road to arrive at the cottage is about 12 km off a main road, which in normal conditions is no problem. We appreciated the owner arranging for plow services due to excessive snowfall, high winds and drifting. Regrettably, we did have to cut our stay short by a night due to blizzard warnings for the area and concern for missing our flights the following day. Would love to return again to this lovely and serene cottage. The nearby town, Borgarnes, has a couple of charming restaurants and shops that we enjoyed during our stay!

Great cottage off the beaten path

We loved our short stay in this cottage. Jon was available right away to help us out when we locked ourselves out late at night. The cottage has a great view and porch to enjoy it on (was the only time we saw the Northern Lights on our trip). The road in is a bit bumpy but totally manageable even in our small rental car. Would love to go back.

It’s nothing too fancy and very cute. Desolate but quiet and private. If you like ikea decor you’ll love this place. Only complaints would be the shower curtain is aesthetically pleasing but not functional. Washer and dryer didn’t work and hot tub wasn’t functional. If I did it again I’d save myself the driving and stay in Reykjavik
