Palm Springs has a strict citywide noise ordinance for vacation rentals, which applies to all homes in the city and is actively enforced by the City—not by neighbors or hosts. These rules are designed to protect residential neighborhoods and require that outdoor areas remain quiet, particularly in the evenings. The ordinance includes clear decibel limits and potential fines that are issued by the City when exceeded. To ensure transparency, these rules are clearly posted in the home and provided to guests multiple times—during booking, prior to arrival, and again in the house guidelines—so guests can make informed decisions before their stay. The vast majority of our guests stay comfortably within these guidelines and enjoy the home and outdoor amenities without issue. That said, we understand how receiving a reminder from the City can feel unsettling, even when no disruption was intended, and we regret that this impacted your ability to fully relax during your vacation. Your feedback is valuable, and we appreciate you sharing your perspective.

We’re truly sorry to hear how upsetting this experience was and understand how stressful it must have felt to have your stay end this way. That’s never the outcome we want for our guests, and we appreciate the opportunity to provide some clarity. Palm Springs has very strict short-term rental regulations that are enforced citywide. The City investigates reported complaints and may issue citations when they determine an ordinance violation has occurred. The City does not evict guests; when a citation is issued, ACME is required to ensure compliance in accordance with local regulations and the guest rental agreement. To help avoid situations like this, all guests are informed of these ordinances in multiple ways before and during their stay — including within the rental agreement, posted inside the home, and through a reminder call on the day of arrival reviewing noise, occupancy, and quiet-hour requirements. We understand how frustrating and unexpected this felt, and we regret the stress it caused. While our team must follow local regulations and agreed-upon policies, we truly wish this experience had been a more positive one.
