Family Beach House With Beautiful Views, Huge Yard, Mooring Buoy, And Kayaking
Are you looking for a serene waterfront setting on a picturesque island in the San Juan Islands that's also close to the mainland? Do you want to wake up to beautiful ocean views with a private beach to explore tidepools and watch the local wildlife? Come and stay at the “Crabbin’ Cottage” for a great romantic getaway or vacation with the family.
Our house is on a 3/4 acre waterfront lot with over 80’ of private waterfront. Lummi Island is the most accessible of the San Juans, and our house is a short bike ride away from the ferry, the Islander Store, and the Beach Store Cafe. Feel free to launch your boat a short drive down the road and use our mooring buoy in front of the house. In addition, it's a great spot for kayaking, biking, hiking, and beachcombing.
The house is set up with an open kitchen that includes stainless appliances. There are two fireplaces (firewood is NOT provided) and a large deck to watch local boats and the Alaskan Ferry as you sip a hot cup of coffee or a glass of wine. There are 2 bedrooms with queen-sized beds. In addition, we have a spacious daylight basement which includes a wet bar and allows accommodations for up to four more people with a bunk bed and couch.
This cozy house is equipped for both a short or long stay. We have a large, Smart TV with many movies to choose from, as well as games and books available for entertainment. Our hope is that our house will provide a place for you to make amazing memories with loved ones.

The beach access was ok for young adults, not so good for young & old. That's typical for Lummi Island as everything is on a hill! The view was great and that giant Cedar tree amazing!! Thanks for everything!
The location and property are amazing! It's great they allow dogs. The bunk beds were broken, so the top one was unusable. We let the owners know so hopefully it's replaced for the next guests.
Everything was perfect for our weekend getaway on Lummi Island. The views are stunning, private beach access was fun, the kitchen had everything we needed to cook (and lots of extras like coffee, oil, and spices), the TV room is super cozy, and the beds were comfortable. Our dog loved the large backyard, though not fully fenced so thankful that she isn't a runner. We're so grateful for the wonderful dog-friendly and welcoming stay!
Clean and organized waterfront home with peaceful sunrise views. Stay here, you’ll love it!

Great place to take the family, with easy access to private beach and stunning water views. Nice big backyard to play in with deer walking through after dusk. Downsides were a bunk bed that was literally falling apart and some damaged window screens.
What an amazing location! Wonderful views from house and deck/yard. Private steps down to secluded waterfront rocky beach area. Really convenient to the restaurant and store on the island. House is stocked well and comfortable. Lots of games and thoughtful gift of wine/chocolates. Would definitely book again!
At least in April, Lummi Island is remarkable for its silence. We heard birds, and an aircraft far away, and the occasional crinkly sound of the tires of slow moving “traffic.”One thing important for guests to note: The charming ferry can hold about 16 cars or one semi. Islanders leave in the morning 6-9-ish (I think to go to work, the sad souls) and return 4-6 ish. Those are busy ferry times. If you need to be someplace, get it the ferry line early. And please shut off your motor while you wait to protect nearby residences from excess exhaust fumes, and so you can hear the birds. The description of this property is a bit low-key relative to the beauty of the place. Mt. Baker. Glorious sunrises, and 10 minutes away a place to view the sunsets as well. Nice yard, beautiful trees, and a sense of seclusion. My ratings are accurate about our stay. I don’t take them lightly. We had great interactions with our host beforehand, and also with the housekeeper, who served us well.
Such perfect rental on a perfect island. Cannot recommend this house enough. Perfect size, view and location. Only advice is to bring all supplies as the grocery on the island is pricey
Four of us rang in the New Year at this fabulous location. Nice and quiet with gorgeous views. We couldn't have chosen a better spot.
Love the quick access to local trails and cozy warmth of the accomodations. Well appointed kitchen and enough space for 4 adults (and one dog) to relax comfortably without being in each other's way!
Would definitely stay here again!
Everything about our stay was top-notch. The house/property was exactly as described on website, kitchen well-equipped, beds very comfortable, and the thickest towels ever in the bathrooms. House was immaculately clean.
The stairs to the rocky beach are necessarily steep, fantastic views from the yard.
Communication with the host was the greatest possible.

Great views on Lummi
We stayed for a weekend with our kids and dogs. It is a great piece of property and the beach is really fun to explore. The house had everything we needed. The internet did not work which was not ideal but it forced us to get more creative with our time. Overall I would recommend this house.
Wanted a place by the water to celebrate mine and my brothers birthdays. This was great! Enough room for 6 adults and an 8year old. We brought board games but didn’t need to, had fun playing chest with the Asian chess pieces!
Overall it was the relaxing weekend we all needed!
Will definitely recommend and will hopefully stay again
We LOVED the Crabbin' Cottage! Great location, gorgeous view, comfy house for the whole family. Only challenge was that there were two different codes given for front door key box. I suggest you check the VRBO site and your email communications to make sure everything matches. Thanks for a wonderful weekend!
A group of 4 of us picked this property for a friends getaway weekend and we couldn't have been happier with our choice. The property was perfect for the four of us. Great location, great views and access to the beach. The house was comfortable and had everything we needed. Our hosts, Robb and Marea, were super helpful, supportive, responsive and accommodating. Truly could not have been better, they were so thoughtful - thank you ! You both really helped make our getaway perfect. Would 100% recommended staying here.

About the host
Hosted by Robb and Marea
Robb and I (Marea) have had the privilege of owning this beautiful, waterfront cottage since 2012 while we were living and working overseas. As international teachers, we came home to Whatcom County each summer, and we wanted our own place to "call home" that we could also vrbo/airbnb during the many months we were not home. This place was PERFECT for our hopes/dreams and lifestyle! In 2020, we moved back to Whatcom County to be near Marea's aging parents. Though we have the typical busy American lifestyle juggling work and family once again, we occasionally get to enjoy The Crabbin' Cottage on scenic, serene Lummi Island. We feel so blessed to still be able to own it, and we are thankful our airbnb/vrbo guests get to come enjoy it, as well.
Why they chose this property
Lummi Island is an amazing place to relax on the Puget Sound. Enjoy tidepools, campfires, and the fresh smell of the ocean. Well behaved dogs are welcome.
What makes this property unique
Mooring buoy, large back lawn/yard overlooking the ocean, stairs to private tidepools/beach
