About this property
Chateau between the Lakes with modern amenities to include WiFi and A/C
Welcome to Chateau Between the Lakes
Your Northern Michigan getaway starts here. This fully remodeled, bright and breezy 3-bedroom, 2-bath home offers modern comforts—Wi-Fi, cable TV, air conditioning, gas fireplace, laundry, and outdoor grill—while putting you right in the heart of year-round adventure between Grayling and Kalkaska.
Winter Wonderland
Strap on your boots—you’re in the snowbelt! Hop on your snowmobile and ride directly out the door onto the Blue Bear Trail, no trailering required. Prefer skiing? Hanson Hills is nearby for downhill runs, cross-country trails, and tubing. Afterward, warm up by the cozy gas fireplace with a cup of cocoa—the perfect ending to a snowy day. Not too far from Boyne Mountain either.
Summer on the Lakes
In summer, the water calls. Across the street, Cub Lake is perfect for kayaking, paddleboarding, and swimming with the boat launch steps away. Just around the corner, accessibly by a nearby trail, Bear Lake invites you to drop anchor at the sand bar or cast a line for fishing in the Turtle Pond. When the day winds down, cool off in the air-conditioned home or sip a drink on the patio as the breeze drifts through the trees.
Fall & Spring Adventures
Every season shines here. In spring, enjoy mild days hiking or biking at Hartwick Pines. In autumn, the colors burst to life—no need to drive to the Tunnel of Trees when the beauty is right here. For even more breathtaking foliage, head to Alden or Bellaire for a scenic drive and a stop at a charming café. Hunters will also love the easy access to state land just a short walk in either direction down the street.
Day Trips & More
Traverse City and Petoskey are within easy reach for wineries, breweries, shopping, and dining—making this home the perfect balance of peaceful retreat and lively adventure.
No matter the season, Chateau Between the Lakes is your place to relax, recharge, and explore Northern Michigan in style. Book your stay today and start your adventure!

About the host
Hosted by Maggie Andersen

Hi! We’re Maggie and Darin, Metro Detroit transplants who fell in love with Kalkaska over 20 years ago. What started as a weekend retreat quickly became our family’s sanctuary, and we’re so excited to share a little piece of that with you.
Why they chose this property
We chose this property because it offers the best of both worlds: peace and quiet tucked away in nature, but still close to everything Northern Michigan has to offer. Out the door, you’ll find snowmobile trails winding through the woods, and just a short drive away are some of the most beautiful lakes in the state—perfect for boating, fishing, or simply taking in the views.
When you’re ready for a bit more action, you can head into town to enjoy a delicious Michigan craft beer, explore the local shops, or venture a little further to Traverse City or Petoskey for even more dining, entertainment, and seasonal festivals.

What makes this property unique
What makes this place truly special to us is the balance—quiet mornings surrounded by nature, afternoons exploring lakes and trails, and evenings spent enjoying the vibrancy of nearby towns. Whether you’re looking for outdoor adventure or a cozy, peaceful getaway, you’ll find it here.
We’re thrilled to host you and hope you’ll enjoy this retreat as much as we do!
