Door County Creamery in Sister Bay-artisan goat cheese and gelato

Al Johnson's Swedish Restaurant in Sister Bay-the famous goats-on-the-roof spot, 15 minutes south

Day trips and easy drives:

Washington Island ferry from Northport (10 minutes away)-a 30-minute ride to Wisconsin's oldest Icelandic community, lavender fields, and Schoolhouse Beach

Sister Bay (15 min south)-shops, galleries, waterfront park, and restaurants

Fish Creek and Peninsula State Park (30 min south)-Northern Sky Theater, Eagle Bluff Lighthouse, and miles of trails

Cana Island Lighthouse (45 min)- one of Door County's most photographed spots

Seasonal highlights:

Spring: cherry blossom season across the peninsula in mid-to-late May

Summer: kayaking, beaches, farmers markets, and fish boils

Fall: peak fall colors typically the first three weeks of October-Door County is one of the top leaf-peeping destinations in the Midwest

Winter: snowshoeing at Newport State Park, ice formations along the shoreline, and the hot tub going under clear winter skies

A small grocery store and a couple of cafes are in Ellison Bay village itself-a quick drive from the house. Sister Bay has a larger grocery store (Piggly Wiggly), pharmacy, and gas, all about 10 minutes away.

This property was incredible for our family of seven! We were able to enjoy all the amenities…hot tub, movie room and the wonderfully large kitchen. Even though we were there before the season officially opened, we were so close to so many great places. The home was clean and comfortable and the host was so fast to answer questions ( usually around 20 minutes). We all loved this place and hope to return!
