Check-in was smooth and easy.The kitchen was made for tall people. I'm 5'2" and had difficulty reaching items on shelves. Had to ask other people to get things down for me and to keep them on the counter for easier access.The dishwasher was confusing to start, but with help from Spencer, we were able to use it.

Family ski trip

We had a wonderful time, the owner and property manager were great and really helpful. Even with a 7 feet of snow we were able to get in the shoveled driveway. Had plenty of room for the 10 of us plus others if needed. The kids loved it. Well stocked kitchen and bathroom supplies. The free Northstar shuttle's door to ski 🎿 area was awesome. I would definitely stay there again.

Didn’t meet expectations

The positive: plenty of room for two families of 5 each. Kitchen was well equipped. Very quiet setting. Easy access to the village and recreation Negative: this place wasn’t very clean. Cleaning person was still working 30 minutes after regular check in time. Lots of things in various stages of disrepair. Nails protruding from handrails & wall. Back porch slider screen was broken. Faucet has hot/cold reversed.

We sincerely apologize for this and worked to make it right with the resolution we provided.We were not aware of the repair issues, such as the nails and porch screen, until after your stay, but those items have since been addressed. While we’re disheartened by the low rating, we genuinely value your input, as it helps us continue improving the experience for future guests."

Buyer beware…

As a rental property owner, and a vacation rental property owner, I feel qualified to say… this property is poorly represented by both the online description and the photographs… the photographs appear to be several years old as the property is entirely different inside….. A few items , fireplace was on usable, and the arcade at the rec center no longer exists…! Prospective guests rely entirely on both the written and photographic description and therefore I think it’s important that they are accurate… on the positive side. It’s a very nice older, multi level cabin in a great location. Unfortunately, the owner has not kept up with maintenance and it shows throughout the building.

We followed up with the homeowner after reading your feedback, and they wanted to share the following:- As seasoned travelers, we know that unmet expectations, whether avoidable or not, are frustrating. We do wish you had reached out during your stay so that we could have assisted you. To future renters reading this response, please don't hesitate to reach out upon arrival or during your stay. We are available to assist you. - We would like to take this opportunity to directly respond to some of your concerns so we can know where we can do better, as well as clarify where there seems to have been some misunderstanding.- The current photographs on our listing are about 4 years old. However, the reason they have not been updated is because over the last year, we have been doing some significant upgrades on the home and we’ve been waiting for those to be completed before we update all the listing photos. - The upgrades include new flooring and carpet throughout the home, new blinds, new couches, chairs, tables, a new BBQ, new kitchen & dining room lighting, new stove, new front decking, new tankless boiler, new heaters in each room, new large television, and more. We are currently working on more upgrades to the bathrooms and kitchen and plan to update all our photos when these upgrades are completed. - We do sincerely apologize for the fireplace not being available and, in hindsight, we should have let you know about this before your arrival. During our yearly fire safety inspection in November, it was discovered that there was a problem with the chimney cap and we were told we could not use the fireplace until that was fixed. This has since been fixed, but unfortunately, your visit occurred at the time between the inspection and the repair.-We wish you had called us about your concern that the Arcade at the rec center no longer exists. Unless something has changed since we visited the property in August of this year, the arcade still exists. - It was upgraded and relocated about a year ago, so it is no longer located near the entrance to the rec center, but instead is located in the back of the building, past the snack bar. The front desk staff should be able to direct guests when they check in at the rec center.- While we do regret our home was not up to your expectations, we’re happy to share that no issues were reported by our most recent guests. - We truly go above and beyond for our guests and are confident that future guests will have a wonderful stay. Plenty of space but needs repairs

First of all the property manager Spencer is the nicest person I've ever encountered at a rental. He was very responsive, genuinely cared that we had a good time and did everything he could to make sure we had a nice stay.The house is large with lots of space to spread out and the kids had a good time.Unfortunately, the house is cluttered and filled with weird stuff (the master bedroom has a Tin Woodman doll as decoration). It is very obviously a family home first and a rental second. Certain house rules aren't conducive to a rental ( no shoes in the house, don't turn the heat above 70). It is an old house (which is fine) but it needs major updates - the kitchen tile is cracking and falling off, the stove is difficult to manage, floorboards are lifting, the furniture is not as presented in the online photos.This would be a fantastic rental if half of the decor was removed and some investments in repairs were made.

Outdated house

The house is plenty big for 3 families. It sleeps 12 which is nice and there are 2 different areas to hang out in. The kitchen is well stocked. The issue is that this house is outdated throughout. In the master bedroom, the heating system is falling apart. Seems like a safety issue. There are closet doors that are barely hanging from their hinges. The carpet throughout the house is really old and looks dirty. The bathrooms are very old. The 2-car garage is a mess and allows only 1 car to be pulled in. There are many light bulbs broken. And the house is generally filthy. There was ice in front of the door making access tricky. We are disappointed. We have stayed in many other houses in Northstar before for less money that are much nicer. This house does not look like it's prepared to be a good rental.

Robert, thanks for taking the time to review this property. The homeowner wanted to pass along the following message: "Robert, we are truly sorry you did not have a better experience at our cabin. While it not a newly renovated cabin, it obviously should be kept clean and in good working order for our guests. It sounds like while Tahoe has had an incredible winter, our full schedule of renters these last few months has also taken a toll on the house. Your specific comments are very helpful to us, and we have alerted our handyman and cleaners to do a deep clean as well as fix the broken closet doors and replace the burnt out lights. As for the garage, we do use half of it as storage in the winter for our outdoor equipment and other items but perhaps we can looking and covering it with a tarp to make it less unsightly. Spring is our slow time, and so it allows us to assess the overall condition of the house and make any necessary more considerable improvements to keep the house cozy and comfortable for our guests. We will look specifically at the carpet as well as the decks and kitchen to see what may need repair or replacement. We have been a part of the Northstar community since 1979, and you are correct, there are many beautiful places to stay on the property. We are grateful for your honest and sincere feedback as we strive to provide a place for families and groups to enjoy all that Northstar has to offer." Best, the Evolve Team

A perfect place for a relaxed family vacation.

A delightful home away from home. There were plenty of towels and paper products, and we particularly appreciated the beach umbrellas and chairs. The Northstar shuttle is always a help so avoid driving. Plenty of room for eight of us, including four kids. The kitchen was well stocked and included all the utensils we needed for family breakfasts. Probably too many stairs for anyone who has difficulty with stairs.

We had a nice stay but this place is very costly for what it is. The location is excellent. The house has been well loved but is in desperate need for new flooring and bathrooms and kitchen appliances. The beds are super hard and it was not fun sleeping. However, if you are not picky about these things you will have a nice time.
