About this property

Peaceful Island Retreat with Water View

Peaceful island retreat with view of Mud Bay! Enjoy the forest, hiking, biking and fabulous sunsets on Lopez Island, part of the San Juan Islands!

Our home features 2 bedrooms and 1 bath with a nice large deck out front with large trees and views of the water through the trees. The 'kids' room has a full/twin bunk bed (140lbs max for top bunk) and another twin bed. The primary bedroom has a king bed. The place sleeps 6 people maximum per night.

Our family has been on the island since the early to mid 90’s after our BFF family friends moved to Lopez. We set up this delightful little cabin in the late 90’s and we have been visiting ever since! We recommend hiking at Glacier point, Agate Beach and around the Village.

Details of the Property: There is 1 Ring camera installed on the front of the building by the front door that faces the parking area. There are no other surveillance devices on the property. There are large swaths of forest on either side and it is very private. We have provided basic amenities such as toilet paper, dish soap and always fresh clean towels and sheets. We use "artificial fragrance free" detergent for those with sensitive skin or allergies. We make the place very comfortable for your stay. We have a full kitchen with essentially everything you need to make a great home cooked meal. We also have nice new pillows and sheets and we continue to upgrade items. There is a new wifi modem, and the fiber optic cables are currently being routed to this side of the island! As soon as that becomes available we will have Lightning fast speeds! WiFi internet is available. There is a smart TV with a nice sound bar and a nice sectional couch in the living room. Bolt lock at front door, exterior LED perimeter lights at night, and heaters work very well! We have a Bluetooth speaker here for you to use. The primary bedroom lamps have usb and usb-c plug ins.

Safety: There is a fire extinguisher under the kitchen sink and another in the primary bedroom near the book case. There is a first aid kit under the bathroom sink. Each window has 2 locks and a screen. Please undo both locks to open and then re-lock both locks again after usage. Please turn off all heaters and appliances, and lock the Bolt lock before leaving the home each time. Please also be sure to lock the sliding glass door.

We have done Thanksgiving as a family in the cabin, crabbing, gooey duck hunting, island hopping and Mt. Constitution hikes and more! Please reach out If you would like recommendations on exploring the area!

The Islander restaurant in the village has a pool table and pinball machine. Sometimes live music!

Isabella’s in the village has amazing Americanos and espresso, sometimes the taco truck is out front and they are delicious! There is also a pizza truck. The village has a more standard grocery store and also a higher end “natural” grocer. There is a skate park in the village as well. There is also a golf course on the island. Be sure to wave at locals on the road! Just a finger or 2 acknowledgement will do!

We recommend visiting the South Side market when coming in and out of Mud Bay Area for any snacks, ice cream, or last minute things that you need to complete a meal back at the cabin!

We have a property manager on the island who is very responsive and helpful. The cleaning fee is comprehensive and when you arrive it will have been professionally cleaned before your stay. Also, as an island community, all waste is brought to the dump by the cleaning crew after each guest. There are large bins outside the kitchen sliding door. Please contact the owner directly and we always do our best to resolve anything that may come up.
Enjoy!

The property is tucked away on Lopez Island, it’s private and secluded with beautiful view of the water through the trees. We had four adults in our group, the property worked perfectly for us. It was clean and well kept, we had an enjoyable stay.

Lovely cabin. Everything we wanted was there. Clean home. Nice launching point for a bike ride around the island. It is about a 20 minute drive to the village and 25 mins from the ferry, but pretty scenery so we didn't mind.

A great base to explore Lopez Island

My friend and I had an enjoyable, comfortable stay here. It was a great location to explore the rest of the island. We especially enjoyed Watmough Bay and Point Colville. We saved time at the end of the day to enjoy the sunset on the deck with a glass of wine and appetizers. When we had a question for the host, he got back to us very quickly, and we appreciated his tip to walk down the hill to see the bay from a couple of adirondack chairs even closer to the water. We wished we could see the water a little bit better from the deck, but you could see a peek of it through the trees. (Perhaps the photo from the deck in the listing where you can see the land on the other side of the bay was taken in winter?) We certainly enjoyed the peace and quiet of the area, and the beauty of the forest. We would definitely recommend this home as a great place to stay.

Surrounded by lovely trees

This place has everything we needed! It was lovely to stay on the deck and watch the trees and wildlife. We heard many types of birds including a woodpecker, and saw deer every day! We biked and hiked all over the island and saw stunning views! Great vacation!

The house was exactly as advertised. Clean, neat, shaded. Lots of privacy and quiet. Plenty of room for 4+ adults. Easy access to anything on the south end of Lopez Island. Relaxing view of Mud Bay through the trees on the front deck.

A bit hard to find the driveway when arriving late but love the secluded feel. There were so many mosquitoes surrounding the property which I thought was odd but overall still loved it.

A great place to stay! Nice area with so many places to go and adventure! A perfect place to come back to after a day of fun. The only disappointment was that there were dirty towels in the washer from the previous occupants. I'm sure that is not typical though.

Daniel manages rain tanks and gardens. Dan has a Landscape Contractor's License. Taylor is a Solar energy contractor. We are based in the Monterey area. We love to update the cabin and keep it fully stocked, safe and comfortable for our guests!

Why they chose this property

Our family has been a part of the Lopez Is community since the mid 90's when our good family friends moved up there full time. The property has since been handed from Mother's to Son's, and remains in the family. It is a very special little corner of the world. We have always loved visiting over the years. We especially enjoy day trips over to Friday Harbor and hiking Mt. Constitution, then making it all the way back by ferry at the end of the day.

What makes this property unique

This cabin was built in the 90's, and as such, compared to many other properties in the area, it is much newer. The heaters work very well, the septic works very well, the water is very hot, and the place is very cozy! We are very attentive owners, and we also have an on-island property manager who lives very close by. We can personally take care of anything that may arise during your stay. In the past calendar years of 2022-23, we have added multiple sets of new sheets and towels, new cookware, a new french press, a new knife set, new pillows, new throw blankets, new solar powered exterior security lights and touch up interior painting. We came in April 24 with fresh towels, cleaning supplies etc and there is a new linen duvet. We hope you enjoy the peace, tranquility, solitude and beauty that the space offers!
