Happy Mermaid-1 Story Cottage on 30A-Fabulous Reviews-Short Walk to Beach

Located between Seaside and Destin in beautiful Santa Rosa Beach, Happy Mermaid is a 3 bedroom, 2 bath cottage that is part of a small neighborhood of only 75 cottage style homes called Old Florida Village, on the north side of 30A. A community pool directly across a private drive makes keeping tabs on those loved ones especially convenient and beach access is a short stroll (approximately 550 yards or .3 mile).

The property has a nice covered front porch that leads into the main living area which has a 40' flat screen HD TV, and DVD . Queen bedroom, 32' flat screen HD TV & private bath. Dining area seats 6. Kitchen has granite counter-tops, stainless appliances & small bar. Laundry room with stacked washer/dryer. There is bedroom with 2 twin beds & shared bath. Another queen bedroom with shared bath.

Covered back porch overlooks natural preserve with small lake.

Old Florida Village is just a short ten-minute drive to Silversands factory outlet mall as well as all the family and adult activities of Sandestin. Across the street is Goatfeathers, a great seafood restaurant, and other great restaurants, shopping boutiques, summer concerts, artist fairs and continuous entertainment options at gulf place which is just a short walk. The quaint villages of Grayton Beach, watercolor, and seaside are just 4-8 miles down the beach highway. Old Florida Village is ideally situated within a quarter mile of 2 public beach accesses with clean public facilities and plenty of parking.

Ideal 30A Vacay Spot!

We’ve stayed at the Happy Mermaid each year for more than 6 years. We love the quiet neighborhood, convenience to the beach, shops & great dining. House always has everything we need & is super clean. Host is easy to communicate with. Will definitely be back!

Great House, Cool Village & Convenient

We would definitely return to this property. The owner is very easy to work with, the house is well cared for and clean, and this neighborhood is a hidden gem off 30A with easy access to Santa Rosa beach and restaurants.

Perfect in Every Way

This was my mother’s fourth stay at The Happy Mermaid and I’m so glad we joined her this year! The cottage is clean, beautifully decorated and has everything we needed. I loved the location inside the gated community, super close to great restaurants, shopping and especially the beach. Will definitely be back soon!

Wonderful Thanksgiving memories at Happy Mermaid!

We decided to spend Thanksgiving at the beach for the first time, and we could not have found a more perfect place than Happy Mermaid! Upon arrival, we were impressed with how clean the house was, and the owner communicated instructions to us that made checking in and out seamless. We enjoyed walks in the quaint neighborhood, enjoyed walking to several food options, and the beach was a short walk as well. We fell in love with Santa Rosa Beach and will definitely be back to Happy Mermaid! Pack your things, and go!

We're back...and we'll be coming back

This place is awesome for our family of four and feels like a home away from home. It is our second visit in four years and we'll back...hopefully sooner. The house is located in a friendly neighborhood that is a short bike ride away from the beach. There are many shops and restaurants options within walking distance of the house, which made for a fun place to go in addition to the beach. The house is very well maintained & clean and the Owner is very friendly and easy to work with. The Happy Mermaid is a great experience and fun vacation getaway!

Wonderful second visit to Happy Mermaid!

We had a wonderful second visit to Happy Mermaid, this time as a family of four! We loved the quiet of Old Florida Village and how close it is to the beach - even with a double stroller and beach cart it's an easy 10 minute walk over and so much quicker than trying to find parking. We spent lots of time at the pool and enjoying quiet mornings on the back porch looking over the beautiful pond and listening to the birds chirp. We were there over July 4th week and it was more crowded at the beaches then we've ever seen before, but thankfully Old Florida Village was still very quiet and peaceful. We love this beach escape and will be back!

First Time At The Happy Mermaid & Not The Last!

This was our first true family vacation and we were pleasantly surprised with the Happy Mermaid and the Old Florida Village. With two children (7&3), the size of the house was perfect. The spaciousness, colors and decor really made the house feel like home. The beds and furniture was comfortable, wifi, enough TVs to accommodate everyone at night, and every utensil and appliance you need. The parking was no problem, the neighbors were all friendly and the pool across the street was an added bonus. The house location was perfect for us too. Riding bikes to the beach was a fun daily adventure. We rent bikes from Big Daddy's who delivered and pick up the bikes at a reasonable cost...so convenient. The owners of the Happy Mermaid could not have been more accommodating. They quickly answered all my questions before and during our trip. We're making plans to return and will most definitely recommend the Happy Mermaid to family and friends. Thanks for sharing your home with us.

Happy Mermaid on 30A

We have been staying at rentals in this neighborhood for 10+ years. The Little Mermaid is perfect for two couples or someone with kids. Location to the pool is a quick walk across the street. Walking or driving to the beach access is less than ten minutes. Conveniently located close to shopping, restaurants and grocery store. The cottage was very clean and well kept. Will definitely book the Little Mermaid again! 5 STARS

The Happy Mermaid never disappoints! Our Mother/Daughter trip 2022 was fantastic. When we want to visit FL and bring our fur babies along this is the perfect spot. The house is so clean and kitchen has everything you need. It’s easy access to the beach, great restaurants and shopping. And right across the street from the pool. We rented a golf cart this time, which made it even easier to get around. We love Happy Mermaid and look forward to our next stay. ❤️❤️

Happiness at The Happy Mermaid

A wonderful 3 week stay at this lovely cottage! Clean, cheerful in a family friendly neighborhood with a very useable floor plan for 4-6 people. We were able to bring our 2 little fur babies who also had a blast on the beach after 6 pm. The host Mitzi was easily contacted & quickly responsive to a WiFi issue we had during the stay and she resolved the issue the same day. Beach is a 12-15 minute walk to the sand, front and back porches quiet respites & the kitchen is well stocked with cooking tools. We loved this idyllic home & would definitely book again.

Wonderful week at Happy Mermaid

We had a wonderful week at this lovely house. It’s even better than the photos show! It’s extremely well stocked with kitchen equipment, we had more than enough supplies to make Thanksgiving dinner there. The house is decorated so cutely and the beds are very comfortable foam mattresses. The location can’t be beat- we loved the neighborhood and how easy it was to walk to the beach. Great communication with owners as well We will definitely be back!! Thanks for a great visit!

We first heard about this area by reading an article in Coastal Living magazine in 2010. We didn’t get a chance to visit until June 2012. We immediately fell in love with the area, particularly the sugar white sand beaches, and decided we had to have our own place in the area. By the end of the summer of 2012 we fell in love and purchased “Happy Mermaid”. It is our pleasure to offer our cottage as 'home' to vacationing families. We take great pride in our property and we are pleased when our guests have a wonderful experience staying in our home.

Why they chose this property

We selected 'Old Florida Village' because of its wonderful location and appeal to families! It is close to everything but not commercial or congested like the more urban areas. Traffic on 30-A is slow and easy! We hope it stays that way for a very long time.

What makes this property unique

As we mentioned earlier we take great care in our cottage and keep it impeccably maintained. It is wonderfully appointed and tastefully decorated. The cottage is immediately across the street from one of the two neighborhood pools. The best part is the cottage is within walking distance to two public beach accesses so you don’t have to worry about finding parking on those busy beach days.
