Very cute and clean cabin! We loved that it was not near any other tourist and had privacy while there, and is definitely off the grid if that’s what you’re looking for. Hosts were very nice and helpful. Check in and out was super easy. We will definitely stay again for our future trips to Big Bend if available.
Off the grid cabin but well designed for efficientcy and green energy. Ideal for traveling to Big Bend. Cute, cozy, and comfortable and immaculate. Mike was superb host and can introduce you to his two favorite donkeys, Mary Lou and Walter. Quiet and perfect for stargazing. Would stay their again in a heartbeat.
We enjoyed our time there very much!It was very peaceful and relaxing. Mike is the perfect Host. The cabin is wonderful. We look forward to going back.
This was the best cabin renting experience I’ve ever had, Mike was a very generous host with great hospitality. The location of the cabin and the entire property was amazing with the best views around. I cannot wait to book again in the future
We had a great stay here. Mike was incredibly friendly and accommodating, which really made the experience. Everything was smooth, comfortable, and exactly what we were looking for. Would definitely stay again!
Hello! I am your host, Mike. I am a carpenter by trade and have been living off-grid in Terlingua for the last 12 years. I care for the animals here (2 donkeys and a horse) and also farm the land with Cactus. I am available 24/7 to all who stay! I built this cabin in my spare time, so please enjoy it and let me know if you have any questions. I am here to help!
Why they chose this property
While there isn't really a "neighborhood" per se. The Cabin at the Hill is about a 1/4 mile from the highway on 80 acres. There are no neighbors and most of the people that live around are about a .5 mile to a mile away. Peace and Quiet!
What makes this property unique
We are close to the highway, but far enough away that you won't get stuck if it rains. We are close to BBNP, but far enough away to have great dark skies, and you will not have neighbors. Oh, and the view! See Packsaddle Mountain from the front porch and the large picture window inside. Watch beautiful sunsets and sunrises. There is always star-gazing as well. And we are also a cactus farm! See all the newly planted pads around the cabin.
