*** ELECTRIC POLICY - Most houses in Granada charge you separately for electricity. We don't. However electric costs in Nicaragua are EXTREMELY HIGH; greater than $.55 per KW hr (the highest in Central America and 5X the US average). 15% of your rental rate is applied towards payment of electrical usage. Your meter will be read upon check-in and check-out and any excess of over 15% of your rent will be taken from your deposit. (For example: if you are paying $1,000.00 in rent, you have $150 in credit towards electricity. If the meter reads less than $150 used you owe nothing and receive your deposit back. If the meter reads $160 in electric costs, $10 would be taken from your deposit.) NOTE: if you simply use the air conditioning at night you should never go over the 15% and no we aren't going to ding you if you're over by $10.

About the host
Hosted by Ghislaine Sieveking
Our very first vacation together was to Granada and we both fell in love with the city and wanted to make a home for ourselves there. Our dream is that in a few years we can begin spending at least half the year in Granada, soaking up the culture, the sun and the warmth of the Nicaraguan people. We hope that when you come and stay in Casa Blanca you fall in love with Granada too.
Guillermo & Melanie
Why they chose this property
This is really a special place. It was built in the 1750s and is one of the oldest buildings in Granada. It underwent a 3-year restoration to bring it back to it's original splendor. The house has original floors, ceilings and doors dating back to it's construction along with all the modern amenities one would need.
What makes this property unique
Centrally located. Just one block off the main park. Casa Blanca is tucked in behind the town's main cathedral and on Granada's main pedestrian street and restaurant row, Calle Calzada. The house has the traditional colonial design with a central courtyard full of beautiful tropical plants and a deep and cool 40 ft long swimming pool. Once you step into the house, you're in your own little private paradise.
