About this property
Victorian Splendor Amidst the Mountains
Nestled at the base of Bois Mountain in Northern New Hampshire, our shingle style house has a commanding view of a spectacular mountain range. Originally built in the 1800s as part of the mountain resort community as a retreat from formal city living, this grand house is one of the few historic buildings left from that era. With 150 acres, Boismont offers land on which to hike and cross country ski. It is also within 30 minutes of major ski areas (Cannon, Wildcat, Attitash) as well as cross-country areas (Great Glenn Trails in Pinkham Notch, Mt. Washington Hotel). It is an ideal location for weddings, business retreats, and gatherings of family and friends.
The property includes enough bedrooms to fit the extended family or group. It also has a large living room with a fireplace, a screened-in porch, tennis court, swimming hole, barbecue, and laundry facilities. We also have a new electric car charger for those guests with electric cars!
The NH Rooms and Meals License #058313 A $350 cleaning fee is sent separately to the owner.

We are so glad that you, like so many others, enjoyed your stay. We hope you can come back some day and enjoy all aspects of the property.
We had a great family trip and it fit our family perfectly with plenty of room for everyone. The caretakers were wonderful and were there to help if needed. Thank you for opening up your home to us - it made for a memorable vacation for our entire family!
This beautiful property was the center of our family reunion for the past 3 days. With some of us staying down the road at a nearby motel, we totaled 29 people (plus 2 very little ones) enjoying the comfort and spaciousness of this amazing home. The games building saw some friendly pool and ping-pong games and the many seating areas inside and on the wide verandas were perfect for socializing and meals. Apart from the sometimes noisy traffic, it was perfect in every way. Thank you!

We are so glad your family reunion went well and that our property worked out well for you. I hope you connected a bit with the shared family history! Come back again!
We spent maybe our best experience in the Carter's house. We were 4 families with kids and it was more than enough big to enjoy the quiet, sturdy to not always prevent children from touching things and delightful to give a good spirit to the week end. I highly recommend for family gathering. I was especially surprised to notice how much it was clean for an old house. Landlords are very nice and chilly regarding our stay. The location is also great, with a wonderful view on Mont Washington. Thank you very much!!!

Great House with great views!
When my wife and I arrived to the Carters property we were taken aback with how large it was. Inside it appeared meticulously decorated with memories of grand get togethers. Our group of 18 fit right in. We had people drive in from all over the northeast and there was plenty of parking for 9 cars. Across the street was the watering hole. I was unsure how big it was from the pictures but it is about 10 large tire tubes across in length and about 5 to 6 feet deep. There was plenty of room for everyone to get in and cool off. Next to the hole was an outdoor grill but the best part of all was the view. The picturesque White Mountain View will leave you relaxed and yearning for more. We will definitely be going back. Thank you Carters!

We are so glad you enjoyed our wonderful family property. It has been in the family for four generations and has seen innumerable get-togethers, family reunions, birthday and anniversary celebrations, and even two generations of engagements! There is a lot of history within its walls and boundaries, and we are glad you added it to your experiences and memories. Come back for a ski trip sometime!

Wonderful Winter Weekend with Co-workers!
We had a great stay at the Victorian Splendor in Jefferson this past weekend. There were 14 of us in total, and there was plenty of room to hang out, cook, play board games, etc. There were a perfect amount of bedrooms for all of us, and each floor had a couple bathrooms so you never felt over crowded. The house definitely has an older, victorian feel, which our group really loved. The characteristics of the house made for even more fun memories to be made.
Some of our group skied at Bretton Woods (~25 min away) while the rest of us checked out Mt Washington Hotel. We made dinner together on Saturday night, and the table fit everyone for our "family" sit down dinner. The fire place in the living room was great, as it added some warmth as well as ambience to our get togethers.
Debbie was wonderful to communicate with leading up to our stay. She was very responsive and thorough with her answers to my questions. It's apparent that they take pride in their house, and want everyone to enjoy their stays there.
Thanks again for a great weekend!

Desperate Need of Upgrades
I was very disappointed in the property. I was there with my family to celebrate my son's wedding. When we arrived there was no heat on in the house and we had infants that had to be kept wrapped up until the house warmed up. The walls were dirty with 50+ year old wallpaper in every room and were stained with water marks. The carpets on the floors were stained. All the mattresses were so old and uncomfortable my wife and I had to sleep in separate beds. The window shades and curtains were dirty and old. One of the sinks in the second floor bathrooms was falling off the wall. We had a mouse run across the floor while eating breakfast on Sunday morning. My wife and I stopped by the property a few weeks before to check it out but it was too late to cancel and get our money back so we tried to make the best of it. Other members of the wedding party stayed at nearby VRBO houses that were beautiful and modern. When everything in the house is so old it never seems clean. I would never recommend this house to anyone in this condition.
Exactly what we hoped it would be….clean, spacious, obviously cared for with pride and love. We were a party of twenty including 10 grandkids aged 1-11….joyous chaos from the owners’ private pond through Santa’s Village! We’ve done a few of these week long gatherings and Jefferson property by far is the best
The house is a great place to gather a large group. With eleven bedrooms, we were able to fit all of our friends in one home. Debbie was great at communicating about the house and it was a fun space to relax and use as a home base to explore the local area, which is full of waterfalls and beautiful mountains. The property is also huge, with lots of outdoor space to explore. We hope to return sometime soon for a ski trip!
We stayed for a short family gathering. Everything was exactly as described. The host Debbie was very responsive and a pleasure to work with. I would recommend this house for other large families or groups.

A very memorable weekend with friends and their families. We were a big group of 6 families including many teenagers. We had a blast!! Very well maintained and kept house. The owner is very responsive and good. So is the custodian! Great stay! One small improvement suggestion is to have a fire-pit near the house rather than on the other side of the road.
Would love to go back there again !
Perfect property for our bridal party. We all loved we were in the same house-made bathrooms to get ready as well as sinks in the room. Old home charm is what I love and this house had it. My dads in construction and he loved looking at all this house had in it as well as my uncles also in the trades. Perfect location for our wedding as well.

So glad you enjoyed it! It really is an amazing old house. Glad your father and uncles had fun looking at how it was put together.
Congratulations on your wedding. Come back for a fifth anniversary party!!

We enjoy the stay. A lot of rooms for our large group. A small sugeetsion, if they can have a firepit close by instead of on the other side of the road, there will be perfect.
This was our best stay in nh so far, (we visit often the white Mountains). The hous is huge, clean, welcoming, lots lots of space for every one, the property is beautiful, it was all we asked for and more, if you looking for a place to get a reunion or big family gathering this is the perfect place for you, the owner debbie was very kind, and very eizi to communicate with. Thanks carter's for the opportunity you gave us to enjoy your piss of haven in the white Mountains.
The place perfectly accommodated a party of 24 people. Kids loved the pond and were excited to catch a frog.

Perfect!
What a wonderful house! So full of charm! I think the process of each person picking out their bedroom was the best. We had a few younger guests who loved the back stairway and also enjoyed a game of hide and go seek. A walk to the pond and beyond was perfect for all ages. We held a rehearsal dinner at the property and it worked out great. Thank you for a memorable vacation.

Great house... just uncomfortable beds!
My family and I stayed at this house for my cousin's wedding that was at the Mountain View Hotel. It was a good experience for the two nights we were there. I would just recommend that they change the mattresses on the beds because we all woke up with sore necks/backs!

This was an absolutely wonderful property. Everything you need.
This was a wonderful; property in a lovely location. The caretaker was nice and responsive when we arrived (although we didn't need him). Everything you need is there. It is clean. It has a lot of charm. The pool is actually a really nice slated lined frog pond. There are lots of tadpoles and frogs. You can take a dip, but you may want to shower after. The area down by the pond is fabulous. Views are spectacular, wildlife abounds, great areas to play games outside.

We are so glad you enjoyed your stay at our house. It is a wonderful old house that can fit a lot of family and friends.
The pool is always a bit hard to describe in that it is half pool and half pond. But it is a great place to cool off after a hike or to relax on a summer day - and to enjoy a cookout with a fantastic view.
We hope you can come back sometime!
Sincerely,
The Carters

About the host
Hosted by Debbie Carter
The Carter family has owned this property for four generations. Since the late 1800's the extended family has been gathering for winter ski vacations and summer hiking trips as well as to just enjoy each other's company.
What makes this property unique
This house is large enough to have an extended group of family or friends without crowding into bunkrooms. The large living room allows everyone to enjoy a winter fire while the screened-in porch provides a place for eating out in the summer air. Beautiful fall foliage on Mount Washington can be viewed from the front lawn.
